Explosions at Boston Marathon

MSNBC just reported that the Boston Marathon has released an official statement that two bombs exploded.

I’m not sure how conclusive that is. The people who run the marathon aren’t munitions experts.

I just heard someone official being interviewed by Brian Williams and he said that there are at least 50 injured, some gravely. I’ve also seen word of at least 6 dead, but haven’t seen any confirmation.

A third explosion just now.

Watching ABC - they just said that Mass. General confirmed two casualties. This just makes me sick at heart.

ElvisL1ves WHAT? They’re not saying anything on TV yet and they’re reporting live.

Twitter accounts saying police scanners said that devices were in trash cans.

I would hope they got the word from police or someone else in a position to know. A reporter on CBS is saying police just detonated a third device.

Fire at JFK library in Boston concurrent with the explosions.

The Achaemenids are still bitter I guess.

Nobody has claimed responsibility?

Scary shit. I have 2 friends who are running. I think it’s the first time for both of them.

At least my homeless friend, who normally hangs out right in that spot, is in CT today.

They’re saying it’s a controlled explosion by the bomb squad. It might just be precautionary.

Video of one of the explosions: http://www.nbcnews.com/video/nbc-news/51546956/#51546956.

Eyewitness accounts of missing limbs and traumatic lacerations.

Live link in post 31 says that was a bomb squad detonation of a suspicious package.

The police announced ahead of time they’d be doing a controlled explosion of some device. You can find it on Twitter. So at least nobody should have been hurt by that.

We don’t know if there’s anything to claim. But if there is, no claim of responsibility has been publicized.

15 seconds is about my count watching the video on NBC. You can see a timer for the race going at the bottom of the frame.

My in-laws are in Boston, but away from the finish line. Stay safe, ladies.

My niece has three friends running. She says she just heard and they are safe. No details from them.

This reminds me of CNN’s report from the Oklahoma City bombing, where pretty much everybody was blaming Syrian terrorists…“oh, and also, today’s the second anniversary of the Waco shooting, but they’re dismissing that as coincidence.”

When I heard the bombs went off near each other at pretty much the same time, which was about an hour after the winner crossed the line, my first thought was, somebody was targeting a runner.

Depends on the channel and where specifically their reporters are standing. That was from the Ch. 4 person.

Latest count: 2 dead, 22 injured.

Most recent report: 22 injured, 2 dead.
