Explosions at Boston Marathon

Yeah, but he had to stoop to doing nude roles

If that turns out to be a correct report, I think that’s totally awesome.

I hope he holes up somewhere, and then gives himself up without hurting himself or anyone else.

Have they had any interviews with either of sisters? And have they confirmed that the mother left Massachusetts for Russia (?) recently?

A sister of the suspects, Alina Tsarnaev, has released a statement expressing her disbelief, just obtained by WBZ-Boston, the local CBS station:

They were great people. I never would have expected it. They are smart – I don't now what's gotten into them.

They interviewed some Russian woman with an accent…but I never saw who exactly she was…but she was saying they were innocent and law enforcement doesn’t have evidence to link them.
I just saw a pic on twitter (that I won’t link to here) claiming it is suspect 1 post mortem (on a slab)

They have interviewed their uncle. I didn’t catch much of it, but he didn’t seem sympathetic to his nephews.

I don’t doubt it for a second. It seems very weird to me that there isn’t like obvious clues as to what happened here. I mean no history of Tweeting or Facebook likes that give a clear intention. No friends or relatives coming out and saying, “Yeah he was always talking about how he hated America.” No notes or manifestos. Maybe it is normal, but the motivation seems to have been pretty private.

That we know of. And while we’ve heard a lot about how great the Younger Brother was, I’ve not heard anybody really say anything about the Older Brother.

Except quoting his hardline statements about his religion, which isn’t a damning fact, but is suspicious, based on American experience with these types of events in the past.

I would bet we get reports in the coming days about how Older Brother used to be okay, then he got weird and withdrawn. And the subsequent discovery of the manifesto writings, weirdness, etc. He’s crazy pants.

Now they just showed the aunt who has the same last name. I have to wonder why the uncle has a different last name. Did he change his name or shorten it for some reason?

The uncle could be their mother’s brother, or he could be either parent’s sister’s husband.

Here’s a good collection of photos.

There’s a real photo that’s been making the rounds.

I’ve been catching up on last nights events. Glad they managed to stop the older brother. Was it confirmed that he was wearing a explosive vest or something? Anyway he sounds like the psycho leader.

Little brother was a pre-med student. He’s in this now and just as dangerous. I hope he turns himself in. There’s been enough killing this week.

Not confirmed. Tamerlan had “blast injuries” as well as bullet wounds. They had other IED’s with them, anyway.

From the New York Times:

I thought Older Brother had only been in the US for a year. He probably doesn’t have close acquaintances is my guess.

No, they were both here for years. The older one became a citizen last year on September 11th, which sounds like a detail would have been cut out of an anti-immigrant propaganda film because it’s too unbelievable.

One of my favorite quotes from this board (apologies for not remembering who) is “Truth is stranger than fiction because truth doesn’t have to make sense.”

I’ve seen varying news reports saying they came here in 2002 or '03 and that they came to the States 5 years ago. I haven’t seen anything saying it was as recent as a year ago. A school friend of the 19 year old said he spoke English without an accent and he was surprised to find out he wasn’t born here.

The uncle said that his brother is the men’s father. He even badmouthed his brother, saying he didn’t have much of an influence on his sons. Their father also confirmed the uncle is his brother, although they haven’t spoken to each other in several years.

Excuse me for asking a dumb question, but IANAL. If Dzhokar Tsarnaev is captured and brought to trial, he should be charged with at least four counts of murder, the three Marathon victims and the MIT cop. If an autopsy determines that his running over his brother contributed to his death, could he be charged for that, too? Or otherwise charged in his brother’s death due to it occurring during the commission of a felony?

The dad is pretty clueless about his sons.
