FairyChatPots – a MMP ceramics giveaway, and stuff.

You go cj!

I have a beastloaf cookin’ away and it smells so nummy! Need to get the mac&cheese goin’ in a bit. I’s gettin’ hongry cause I ate only a turkey sammich for lunch.

Other than that, it’s a quiet, cool day at da cave.

Carry on.

We haz clean goggies, hooray! And on the plus side, the dog wash we went to is fabulous, with excellent tubs arranged intelligently, clean as a whistle and the proprietor has been in business for ten years. Bear was really stellar, hardly even wet Himself down with shaking off the water, and was just fine with having his ears cleaned. Widget didn’t like the blow dryer since it wasn’t warm air so I just doubled up on towels. Now his butt is extravagantly curly and they’re both all shiny and fluffy and they smell lovely! Thirty bucks VERY well spent…

It was getting down to the wire to get them cleaned up because they’re going to be babysat by a friend next week while Himself and I abscond to the beach for my birfday celebration–I so have my fingers crossed the weather stays nice! Iz gonna be fun, haven’t been on a trip without the kids for quite a while! Said friend is a dog enthusiast, but his wife is much less so and I think he’s using our pups to influence her a bit more toward letting him get the dog she swore he could get several years ago after their old Lab died… Therefore, they must be on their bestest behavior and be pettable, not stinky.

My hands really need some lotion, though!

Whew - finally caught up. I missed yesterday because of busy busy busy and stuff.

First off, thanks, puggy, for catching my N.O.Typo… I blame my defective keyboard.

Second, I sent off a bunch of ceramics today and the recipients have been sent emails with postage costs. Other promised pottery should go out tomorrow, I hope. If not, then Monday for sure.

Third - I made a clay moray eel last night! My project is looking muy cool!! All I have to do is make some stag horn coral, and maybe a fish, and it’ll be built. Then it needs color. Then firing…

Fourth - we had a pot luck at work today. It was supposed to be part of a team-building event, and the team leader was going to have us finish with a team building exercise. Lucky for us, the conference room was reserved for a retirement after our to-do, and they barged in early, preventing whatever hokey nonsense Jim had in mind. With luck, he won’t get around to building our team.

Fifth - I went to the Dr yesterday - he’s doubling my cholesterol meds dosage. :frowning: I need to eat better and start exercising. I know, I know. Stoopit cholesterol.

TGIF. That’s all for now.

Just found out a dear friend of mine has breast cancer. No lump, so signs- picked up on a routine mammogram. :frowning: I feel numb.

Get your mammograms ladies…

It’s snowing. I’m really glad I have a super short drive home. The roads are already parking lots and it’s not 5pm yet.

Have a good weekend!

Soapy I’m so sorry about your friend.

My praises have been sung. Ol’ y’all know who was one happy bear with his dindin tonight. It was a large and in charge good ol’ fashioned comfort meal. Plus he got peach cobbler. He’s a fool for peach cobbler.

Hope everyone’s Firday evenin’ is goin’ well. We’re goin’ to hottub for a bit. It’s a perfect cool evenin’ for some hot tub time. Plus some nicely chilled bubbly. AHHHHHH!!! “Appreciation” to follow.

TGIFIRDAY!

Congrats, Dotty on your debt-free state - woo and hoo! Hugs for those in the House at Grrr Corner or the BIGFYSU house (oooh… did I get that right?! LOL). Aww, how cute that Mr.Rebo is calling Rebo - he does miss ya!

I took off today so that I could go get blood work and a chest x-ray done. Good thing, too, because radiology was some kind of a mess today. I didn’t get out of there until nearly 11 AM. FCM, I can sympathsize about the cholesterol; I just got the results of some of my blood work and while my cholesterol is better (down overall, the good is up and the bad is down), the triglicerides are higher, unfortunately. I dunno what the doctor will do about that …:frowning: And my A1C blood sugar was 6.2, up from 6.1 - still in borderline diabetes territory, unfortunately. Grr … I’ll say one thing, though: I read food labels much more carefully than I used to and I have been really trying to avoid prepared foods.

I am so ready for the weekend! Hope y’all enjoy your weekends as much as I’m looking forward to enjoying this one. And don’t tell me about that chocolate cake, please … I dunno if I can hold myself back from trying to make one. LOL

And oh yes, Haze, you look perfectly loverly in the new hair cut!

:smack: Of course! Very important to align the ducks carefully.

Very cute cut, Haze!

I giggled at the condom slogans.

Sorry about your friend, Soapy.

I’ve been reading the MMP while tearing a sweater apart. It’s quite therapeutic to unravel things, I have to say.

Went to a new-ish Mexican restaurant for lunch and had chicken fajitas. Yum. But very filling. I’m not really feeling the need for dinner.

So I guess I’ll do something yarn-related and maybe watch a movie or something.

Back later, I’m sure…

GT

I do believe that one is my favorite.

I bow to your superior money managing skills

Very cute.

The positive side is, it sounds like it’s probably early enough that she’ll be fine. I could put you in touch with my BCSurvivor friend - she went through 2 bouts and is now better than ever.

<nods head, madly>

Am home from work. Must go in through pending blizzard tomorrow: an Alberta Clipper which is sending us more than the usual amount of snow. Thanks, Canada. :dubious: I like winter and snow, but I don’t want to have to drive in it tomorrow early morning…

Haze–hair is lovely.

Re the foodie police: I LIKE Baker’s Chocolate Brownies and even Hershey’s cocoa (in food). And you’ll pry my Chantal from my cold, dead fingers.

Soapy–sorry about your friend.
Off to read in bed after a bath. 0530 comes mighty early round here.

So sorry to read about your friend, Soapy.

I’ve spent the day running around like a chicken with my head cut off, yet I feel like I haven’t accomplished a thing.

I still have mass cleaning to do, along with purchasing the food for tomorrow’s shindig.

I did manage to hit Costco, where I bought four folding chairs and a new kitchen garbage can. This one has one of those lids that has a sensor on it, so hopefully the stoopit dog will now stay out of the trash. I actually bought two garbage cans, because there was bathroom can too. The folding chairs are the padded type. Yep, we’re real DE-LUXE around here.

I had to buy the chairs because we never have enough chairs to go around the table when we have these 99 parties. So, we end up having to pull out our two big office chairs, the stool from upstairs, the ottoman, and sometimes our outside chairs.

With the purchase of these chairs, hopefully, all we’ll have pull over is the ottoman and maybe the stool. That’ll give us seating for 13. With the office chairs, we’d have seating for 15.

Anyway, I still need to steam clean the hallway carpet and finish straightening my room, along with scrubbing my bathroom. I need to finish cleaning up the kitchen and I need to dust and vacuum the great room as well. The powder room is scrubbed, but I need to wash the floor in there.

Well, I suppose I should get off my hiney and get to the chores at hand.

Found out why my computer is being a POS: it has Windoze Service Pack 3 on it. I have no idea how that got on there. Complicated Roommate gave me A Look when he found it. I got all my files transferred over to my new external drive, so once CR finds the installation cds he needs we can kill it with fire and reformat the evil off.

Conference tomorrow. Am slightly nervous, but not very.

Mornin’ all. HRH woke up at oh-dark-thirty this morning. Yaaaawwwnnnnnn.

{{{Soapy and friend}}} Hopefully, the docs caught it early enough!

Haze, nice haircut. It reminds me of an Asian actress, whose name I do not recall (or perhaps never knew) - I am seeing her/you standing on the red carpet, wearing a beautiful, off-the-shoulder, draped silk-satin, floor-length gown in ivory.

Today will be a busy day. We are going to one mall to buy my bag, then a second to pick up HRH’s new car-seat, then a third to visit the only real hardware/home store on the island (which is the one place that sells those “fit over the top of the door” thingies, so hubby can hang up his towel (don’t ask me to explain - I am too sleep deprived)). Finally, we will need to have some lunch, by which stage the child will be grumpy as all get-out! FUN!

Yay for being debt free, Dotty! (I think I forgot that last time…)

I need to find my friend a birthday present tomorrow. Her husband is having a surprise party for her tomorrow.

Watched Burn Notice, Psych, a German cooking show and news, all the while dismantling a sweater. I’m almost done and have an impressive amount of yarn to show for it. Not great quality, but pretty. And cheap.

Sleepy. Off to beddie-bye.

GT

Pretty good day today.

I went to work and set up a bunch of things to print. Got two big ones done, plus some miscellaneous stuff cuz of course nobody would leave me alone. Found out that I can’t use the new computer to actually print, so the tech guy is going to get called out to fix that. Had to explain to the boss that when Windows Explorer crashes, that means you can’t do anything. No, it’s not Internet Explorer. And when Windows Explorer crashes from you trying to change print preferences, that means I won’t be printing from that computer. And no, it’s not the bloody drivers (okay, I suppose it could theoretically be, but since I had just installed them, it’s not likely).

During work sewed up an accessory for my kimono to make my project for that afternoon easier. Photography project - dressing in kimono! Yay! Did fairly good with the obi considering I had no instructions and no mirror. And the chikara nuno (that’s the accessory I was sewing) made it SO much easier to get my collars right. No more pretending ‘well if I lean forward all the time I can totally fit my hand between my collar and the nape of my neck.’ I’ll be posting the photos on my livejournal soon and will let you all know.

Discovered earlier that breaking out the stem of a white mushroom and then filling it with spinach and garlic spreadable cheese is absolutely yummy. So had that for dinner along with two packs of peanut butter M&Ms and a big glass of milk.

Didn’t get anything else done. Room is a giant mess and I can’t sleep in my bed cuz it’s covered in stuff. Haven’t packed up to switch rooms either. Started working on a TiddlyWiki to keep track of my kimono and as a knowledge base for myself (and I might share it.) Going to go play Guitar Hero instead of working.

pronouns are for pedants

Hi all, I have been either too ill or too busy to do more than glance in here before bed, and then I am too tired to post.

Life is…what it is, I guess. My son may not live to see his 17th birthday unless he straightens up. For the time being he is staying with skiffman, again, and it’s so nice being here with just the daughter and myself. Well, and the zoo.

The last root canal, the one that was infected again? Well, the tooth had cracked, so out the tooth came. The dentist wants to put an implant in, but I don’t know. He described the procedure and quite frankly I don’t see why we can’t just do a bridge. (scary procedure…)

Who posted the recipe for the Blue Balls drink? I checked the recipe blog and didn’t see it listed, at least not by name. I have a bartender friend who is jonesing for it, so if I could get it again, I would surely appreciate it!

I do recall that a Yay VunderBob!!! is in order! Go you! And the pups are adorable, I love that you and VWife do this sort of thing. (Isn’t it about time for the Spring kittens again? :D)

Sleepy now, and there is water aerobics in the early am, so bye for now. Just remember, I am like The Police, I’ll be watching you! :stuck_out_tongue:

Today, like an idiot, I dropped my cell phone and cracked the LCD screen. :smack:

Snowing like hell here and I’m off to work in about 5 minutes. I could not get to sleep last night (no clue as to why) and so am working on about 4 hours of it. Blargh.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Actually, I’ve even been productive. Go me.

I have two Boston <snerk> Butts <snerk> on the smoker along with some chicken boobs. One of the <snerk> butts <snerk> is for tonight. We have some friends comin’ over for dindin and general hangin’ out so the menu shall be bbq sammiches, baked beans, coleslaw and a homemade cake a friend who is a wunnerful baker is bringin’. Oh and chili cheese dip with those big corn chip scoop things as an appetizer. It’s a cold day, so I figure all this is good cold weather type food.

The other <snerk> butt <snerk> will be frozen for later purposes and the chicken boobs will be a part of dindin one night this next week. When I get smoker goin’ I tend to do more than one thing bein’ as I have room to do smoke two or three different things if’n I choose to.

Ok, need to go figure out some brekkies.

Later Y’all!

Gotta go to work today. With the kids on vacation last week, I stayed home more than usual and Must Catch Up.

Those little bacteria just don’t grow themselves, y’know!
