Sounds to me like someone still has work to do! :dubious: Now get busy!

Did I kill the MMP?
Da cave smells sooooo good! It smells like bbq, baked beans and chili cheese dip. Company is due around five-thirty. I’s hongry! Methinks the dip might need samplin’, you know, just to make sure it’s good enough to serve company. I’ll all carin’ and concerned like that.
Your house should meet my house. Mine smells like snickerdoodle cookies. Not because I’m baking, but because I have a snickerdoodle candle in the warmer. Mm.
… okay I was reading that way too early. Somehow I was thinking England…
I’ve learned a new way of tying obi! Yay! I knew there was one that looked like the clams’ mouth tie that’s used for men’s and half-width obi. It’s basically a square knot (which is why it annoys me to see pre-tied men’s obi.) So I found the link and tried it. I don’t think I did it exactly right, but it looks fine, and it’s nice and flat (unlike the drum bow which has a pillow there to keep the bow looking nice, and to keep you from being able to sit normally in chairs.)
I’d take a picture but I can’t find my camera right now. I also need to be doing housework.
Hullo! I’m here. It’s been a great day. We ran a few errands then went to the Solomon’s Yachting Center to reserve a slip. Originally, we didn’t think we’d be able to move there till next year, but **FCD **decided to forego his new storage shed, and we’re paying for a new slip instead. It’s a lovely marina with new floating docks, really nice facilities, including a pool, and our slip is one of the most sheltered. We move 1 April! Yay!!
Then we went to West Marine and bought bottom paint - we’ve got to sand and paint the hull before we go back into the water. On the way home, we stopped at Penney’s and I got a new purse. It’s black leather, and was marked $59.99, but it was on sale for $34.99 - SCORE! It’s got 2 large zippered compartments, one snap compartment, a couple of small outside pockets, and a separate cell phone holder, that I won’t use since I can’t take my cell into work anyway.
I’m now knitting another helmet liner. A guy I know at work has a friend in Afghanistan, and I’m going to send a couple to him, along with some goodies to munch on.
Daughter and SIL are doing DC today, so they won’t be home till late. We went to Salsa’s for a late lunch, early supper, and we’re in for the day. We’ve got a fire going so this room is toasty warm. As soon as I post this, I’m going to take the doggies out, then back to knitting.
Air kisses all around!! MWAH!!
Well, crud. Stupid all in Japanese pages. It’s actually one for the half-width obi. I’m going to stall some more and try to learn another one that’s actually for the formal obi.
I’ll take “What’s the #1 law that will never be passed in North-by-God Kakalak” for $1000, Alex. There would be mass protesting, looting, arson, murders, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria if that sort of thing was even thought of here in the State of Pork Production and Barbecue.
I’m doing something similar for Lent even though I’m an Evil Heathen. I have a bracelet I use as a “chant rosary” and I’m going to say three bracelets worth of Buddhist chants each day throughout Lent. If anything it will help me to not killabitch when I’m tempted.
Conference was interesting and intellectually stimulating. Now I wish I was an ESL teacher. I thought grad school would help me decide what I wanted to be when I grow up. It’s only made it worse. I could be a librarian or an archivist or an ESL teacher or a regular English teacher or a composition teacher or…you see? Accursed indecision. Of course, considering these Harsh Economic Tymes, that may play out in my favor.
My house smells like sketties and meatballs. Yum!
The dogs were sufficiently worn out from the park that after baths we all had a 1-1/2 hr nap. Well, I did. They’ve been napping all day. 'Cept when they were cadging bites of meatballs.
Y’all have been working so hard all day! I have a load of clothes in the dryer that have been dry since about 2:30. Screw it. There’s always tomorrow!
I did do one mundane chore. I ironed the newly washed (last week! :D) curtains for the newly installed kitchen window, and put them up. They look great! The window looks great, too. Mr Rebo put in the new blinds before he left.
I miss him.
He told me he saw his brother at the hospice yesterday, and he hardly recognized him. He spoke with a nurse who said Ken (the brother) may have 3-5 days left. Poor guy. Poor family. Good thoughts are welcomed for Mr Rebo’s family.
Mr Rebo has been cleaning out his brother’s trailer, which is full of junk. He said the transients are raiding the dumpster whenever he dumps a load.
Gotta make a salad and garlic toast. Later, Mumpers!
Good thoughts to the** Rebo **and **Mr. Rebo’s **family. I’m sorry you all are going through that.
Whew! House is clean and presentable. I’m presentable. I’m tired and the party hasn’t even started!
I made a new type of pasta salad today. I shouldn’t have done that. Mr. Taters doesn’t like it, and I think it’s sort of “meh”. Hopefully, because it’s been sitting the flavors will sort of “meld” and give it a little punch. I hope so, anyway.
I don’t recall seeing
“Prego Condoms - it’s in there.”
TMI update (you’ve been warned)
I forgot to call the surgeon on Thursday, and again yesterday. I remembered today but they weren’t open. Anyway - after 2000 mg of Keflex - when I changed the bandage Thursday (after I posted here) what came off attached to the gauze pad was a wad of nastiness about the size of 3 pieces of chewed gum. I was utterly fascinated by it - After I cleaned and redressed the area, I stared at the old gauze for a full five minutes. Yes, i am weird. I concluded that out is much much better than in, and last night at changing time, it looked every so much better. Not nearly as angry looking and certainly not as yuck filled. Thus endeth the TMI
That is so pretty!
Well, I figured out another obi bow, but it’s not a flat one.
I got moved into my new room (me and a suitemate were switching rooms.) I’m nearly all set up - I need to hang up my clothes, make my bed, and put away all my desk stuff. I weeded out some stuff to take to the thrift store too (I had a lot of towels. And some books. And a set of sheets.) And my lava lamp is plugged in! Yay! And I took down nearly all the things I needed to - some to go to the thrift store, some to go into storage, some to sit in my car for when I have project days with my mom.
Tired. Feet hurt.
Home, gotta work tomorrow. I spent $50 on beer and dog stuff at Kroger on the way home.
Nike condoms: Just do it!
McCondom: I’m loving it!
BASF: We don’t make the condom, we make it better!
Neat kimonno, **Tyger]/b]!
{{{{Mr. Rebo and Brother}}}}
Taters, I cleaned the toy and box bits off the living room floor.
Soapy ,sorry about your friend.
Pretty scarf, taxi. And I like the pattern of the scarf you’re knitting now. I went to Barnes and Noble today and drooled over the Vogue stitch books. There is a four-volume set of stitch dictionaries that’s really fun to look through. I want to learn how to knit all different kinds of patterns and learn how to design and fit items properly.
Glad the wound seems to be getting better, rosie. But ick…
Hugs for the whole Rebo family.
Friend’s birthday party was a great success. She was genuinely surprised and very pleased to have her kids and friends there to celebrate with her. All kinds of yummy food, good friends, fun pictures. Great time.
I’ve finished unraveling the sweater. Still need to wash and hang the hanks to straighten out the yarn.
I’m sleepy now. Guess I could wander into bed…
Nitey night…

I would blurf, but I have been up already for four hours (after another night of insomnia) and been to water aerobics. Trish and I made the husbands go too this time, and there will be no more “Oh please, you aren’t tired/sore, you just went to the pool”! That will teach them! Coffee is on, and skiffman is making breakfast. Bacon and eggs, and I am hongrey!
It’s a beautiful morning, as we were leaving the house the sun made it’s appearance and quickly rose in the sky. The mountains are a glistening white, and the sea is deep blue. We saw over a hundred eagles, easily. One actually swooped down in front of the car and snatched a hare from the side of the road and barely cleared the car as we passed. We also saw seven deer right next to the road, one buck was standing on the road. Lots of deer tracks in the snow, but no bear sign yet.
Thanks for the thoughts regarding the tooth. The gum is healing, but I was not feeling too spiffy for almost a week after he yanked it. I have found a great dentist who has declared that I am going to let him fix up my mouth. Last week I had my teeth cleaned, and considering how long it’s been the hygienist was impressed at how little cleaning she had to do. The downside to that is that I have brushed my teeth so thoroughly over the years that I have completely worn the enamel off in places. Only a couple of cavities. The implant is around $3,000, but what insurance won’t cover the dentist will let me make payments. I told you he was a good dentist!
The Son is in such deep trouble at this point. He went to school yesterday, and neither of us have heard from him since. I called his best friend’s mom this morning, and apparently there was a sleepover at another friend’s house out on Aviation Hill (Coast Guard Housing). He hangs with a good bunch of kids, but he needs to moderate the teenage attitude. At this point he has lost his ipod and is majorly grounded.
Well, I got busy geeking my desktop (and fixed the problem) and then spent the day ditzing from one project to another and never got back to the laptop to post this. I’m in bed now, after a nummy meal of venison in gravy over rice with broccoli…nom nom nom. Perhaps I’ll get my act together tomorrow and post promptly. Yeah, that’s likely.
Anyway, all the appropriate responses, see ya later!
Dang, **kai **- sounds like you live in a nature preserve! I get all excited when I happen to see one eagle! Just as an aside, I never saw a bald eagle in the wild till we moved here. It’s quite the thrill, oddly enough. I do see a fair number of deer - we even had a group of 5 in our back yard one time. And there was a bunny in the front yard once, also. Mostly what we see at home, tho, is a grey and white cat who’s been hanging around since we first moved it. It freaked us out because it looks something like our now-departed grey and white kitteh, and we thought it was him!
Anyway, I’m up, after a reasonably decent night’s sleep. I should have the helmet liner done in no time, then I can box the 2 of them up with the couple of treats I bought and send it all to Afghanistan on Monday. Back when I was on active duty, I didn’t recall everyone being so doggone young! But, at least from my advanced age, I see that our military is full of kids!! These 18 to twenty-somethings shouldn’t be fighting in foreign countries. So maybe my little bit of knitting will make things a bit more comfortable for a few of them.
Other plans (brace yourselves): laundry!!! woo and hoo. I should tidy my desk area and do some filing. When I pay the few bills that still come by mail, I toss the stubs into this here red plastic box. Well, ol’ Red is overflowing. I hate filing, but I guess I gotta. Stoopit filing.
We were supposed to get some rain and/or snow overnight, but we didn’t. It’s cold out, but not bitter. I do wish we would get some rain - won’t someone think about the watertable?!?!?
OK, that’s enough. Must caffeinate. Happy Sunday, all!
Up,caffeinated, off to work.
Blurf.
I stayed up too late last night. I still can’t sleep past 7:00. Dogs are fed and I’m caffeinatin’.
It does sound really beautiful up there on Kodiak Island, kai. The most wildlife I see are squirrels and lizards. Oh! I did see the first robin of the spring the other day!
It’s a beautiful day here. Cold (ok, cold for me! 42°) and clear and it promises to be a spectacularly sunny day! Highs in the 60s.
I’m going to go to WallyWorld and Garden Ridge Pottery. I need a new electric skillet, and I need some big pots to replant some houseplants.
And I have laundry to finish, and the grocery store to visit. I haven’t finished my list yet, either. And I really should dust something.
::sits here sipping coffee::
That sounds so beautiful, kai. It’s hard to imagine seeing hundreds of eagles.
Sorry about the son with the attitude.
I didn’t sleep quite as much as I wanted to, But I have all kinds of stuff I want to do today, so I’m up.
Gotta get moving on breakfast and cleaning and church and filing and yarn washing and knitting and putting stuff away and other stuff I’m forgetting.
Back later…

Skimmed. Urgh, tired.
Second (almost third) day of almost-houseguests. Got stomach flu on Thursday night, had company come Friday, internet went down on Friday and Thursday, have been running full tilt.
Tired.
Must get up enthusiasm to go to Mass.
swampy, I’m taking Nat to daily Mass at least once a week. It will be exciting. Read: a circus.
Good morning everyone. I’m up, but not because I want to be. The radio portion of my alarm clock kept going off. I don’t know why, because I did not set my alarm. It was doing that yesterday too. I guess it’s time for a new alarm clock. I’ve had it for about 15 years, so it’s not like I didn’t get my money’s worth out of it.
The party was blast and everyone had a great time and enjoyed the dinner we prepared for them. We didn’t win any money this time around, but it’s all good.
We’re supposed to meet for breakfast, but frankly, I’d like to just keep my butt home and not go anywhere or do anything. Hopefully, the coffee I’ve got brewing will wake me up and make me change my attitude.
Pretty scarf, taxi.
Time to get some go-juice.
