taxi, my purse came from WalMart, and it was either $12 or $14. I really like it - size, compartments, style - but the doggone straps are splitting. GRRRRR! Guess that’s what you get for cheap. However, I do intend to go to a better store and try to find a decent bag.
Honestly, if it’d last 8-10 years, I wouldn’t mind spending a lot more. As it is, I have to replace mine every year or so. The biggest problem is finding a style that I like - not too big, a shoulder bag with a shorter strap, a couple of interior compartments, and an exterior pouch where I can pop my keys. Preferably black. Is that too much to ask??
As soon as **FCD **finishes tidying after supper, daughter and I will roll some snickerdoodles. Then I need to play with some clay. Or maybe I’ll do it tomorrow afternoon. I need to make a few pieces of stag horn coral before class tomorrow night.
I like your stuff, FCM, but no room over here in casa Rigs. I also need to declutter.
I like the bucket purse. I need a new purse, but no $. We are back from our trip to Mt Vernon and Normal, IL (for ISU). #1 son does not want to go to ISU, but we thought the campus was much nicer than we had thought it would be (if that makes sense). There are some very nice little towns in rural IL, but some of them–the ENTIRE town looks like a meth lab.
Am off to take a long hot bath, whilst reading a book on medical libraries. Do I know how to have fun or what?
Haze- I hear ya on the dreams. My dreams are very disturbing at times, and they do color my day (for a bit). TH never “got” that, either. BooFae is right–it’s like being colorblind or something. They just don’t get it. <shrugs>
No, I liked that one so well I made it twice, once with the pale pink/peach floral, and again with a mulberry tone on tone floral. It didn’t photograph well at all, but it really was quite nice. Neither of those ever made it to a show–I gave one to my best friend for her birthday, and the women at DoctorJ’s office nearly had a fist fight over the other one. And, of course, when I went to get more of that material for other things, it had been discontinued. I was desolated.
Most of the ones in that set have actually sold; I went through a big thing of (badly) photographing most of them when I first started making purses to sell, and then my LJ peeps got tired of looking at them all and I got tired of fooling with it. Most of the ones I was pretty meh about didn’t actually get pictures taken. I may round some of them up and do photos and have a little clearance thingy in the next few weeks.
Huzzahs for everyone who has good stuff going on, sympathies for everyone who has crappy stuff going on.
I had to go to the store, despite not wanting to, because the fridge has only some beer and a single pie crust and I don’t drink beer and don’t want pie.
Soooo, I drove to the supermarket.
Slight problem–I left my purse at work.
I said screw it and came home. I’m eating popcorn and drinking Kool-Aid.
Tomorrow I’ll be furious with myself for not going and getting my purse and going back to the store. For tonight, though, popcorn and Kool-Aid it is.
VBob - those puppies are still too rat-like for me to appreciate their cuteness. Please post new pics in a month or so, then I will squee.
Three day weekends throw my sleep schedule off. I awoke at 6 this morning, sat on the edge of the bed, realized I had the day off and went back to sleep until 3pm.
In other words - blurf
First, I had to drive my daughter to Tacoma so she could do some observations at a women’s employment and education center. The place was closed. I wasn’t surprised, but my daughter’s professor had this on the calendar for today. So, now she needs to reschedule this one. If she misses one, she loses a full letter grade in the class. She is full of grrrrr.
After that, we drove to the post office, mailed off transcripts, and then drove to Borders where I looked at many books, and purchased two for myself, along with a calendar. I also purchased one for my daughter. I had a fifty dollar gift card, so when it was all said and done, I only had to spend about 12 bucks out of my pocket.
After that, it was off to Ted Brown Music Company so my daughter could buy a replacement mouthpiece for her clarinet. Finally, we ran to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things.
I’m home now, but am supposed to go running. I’m not feeling it, to tell you the truth. I’d just like to relax for a bit.
Dotty, I’d just get the purse. Everyone has their indulgences and if you like it and can afford it, why the hell not? I don’t really have a thing for bags, but I’ve spent over $300 on nice sunglasses. A silly luxury, but I was quite happy with them.
Actually, I do have a thing for bags, but I treat my bags so roughly that I can’t trust myself with a one that’s too nice. :smack:
I will not even look at the pics. I’ll want something, and we don’t need knicknacks. We really don’t.
We vacuumed and mopped and dusted today, and dropped Nat off at the grandparents and went to the pub for dinner. Alone. No baby. It was very nice.
I’m probably going to grab an adult beverage from the fridge, lie around a lot, and go to bed soon. It’s been very nice to have Mr. Lissar home for five days, even if he was deathly sick for two of them. It ends tomorrow morning. Sniff. I should pack his lunch and breakfast.
rosie, it’s yours! Send me your address, and it’ll be on its way by the end of the week.
One pan of snickerdoodles burned - bummer. Three of my pans are the non-burn kind, the 4th, obviously, wasn’t. Guess I need to get some more of the better pans.
For the record, I don’t want to go to work tomorrow. I deserve to be independently wealthy, dammit! Stoopit non-richness. But I do have to get to bed. I need my beauty sleep.
Concerning purses, my current one cost $5 at the thrift store and is nearly new. My expensive one was $40. I can’t imagine dropping hundreds on one, but if that’s what somebody wants to do and has the money, then go for it!
FCM, I’ll look at what you have later tonight or tomorrow and decide which I want. I’m thinking the star candle holders unless they’ve already been claimed, but I need to look at everything again to be sure.
Oh, and I don’t have to work tomorrow. (But I did Saturday. Such are the perils of working in an office that is open every day, year-round.)
Yay, Bobbio! Congratulations on passing!!! Cute puppies, too.
That’s a pretty purse, Dotty. My purses generally come from Target or Kohls. Although when I’ve spent a bit more it’s been at somewhere like Macy’s and the bags have tended to last a bit longer. I keep looking for nice purses at thrift stores, though, because I’d be happier to get a really good purse at a lower price.
I’ve been quite industrious today. Got lots of laundry done (including the sweaters I’m going to reclaim yarn from) and also finally started the great recaulking of the tub (I’ve been putting that off for…a while). FTR: I hate removing caulk. Also got a bunch of recycling together and also clipped a bunch of coupons.
Now I’m going to sit back and relax for a while.
Don’t feel like going to work tomorrow, but I guess I’ll go anyway. Why haven’t we all won the lottery yet???
Somebody posted a link to a Julia Child video on Youtube, which reminded me of camp and my summer as a kitchen aid (not to be confused with KitchenAide, okay?). Piper, for that was her camp name, is a wonderful woman and the camp cook / kitchen boss for years and years. What reminded me was Ms. Child cracking one in each hand - Piper could do two. I learned how to crack eggs one-handed after that, cuz it was so cool.
I miss camp sometimes, but Piper retired, then the camp director retired, and now they’ve moved to a new location. And of course, I’m a filthy heathen now, but that didn’t stop me last time I worked there. The only staff member I could count on seeing would be Pepper, the archery instructor and the toughest woman I’ve ever met. I had a lot of friends there, but a lot of the younger staff end up not coming back, and, frankly, a lot of the older staff is too conservative and drives me nuts (even when I was a Christian).
Howdy! It’s cold again. Gordie is chewing on one of Maggie’s old rawhides. God knows where it was buried. I wish I’d win the lottery, I’d become a hockey Deadhead.
FCM, I’ll take the blue mug, and the lizard thing.
