It’s the jigsaw puzzles that aren’t being updated, and I tried finding a comparable game from the drop down menus and can’t find one.
Thanks for the advice though - I’ll try again.

Which is the WalMart near you? I know there’s a KMart at Rt 2 and 214, but the nearest WalMart I could think of is in Bowie, and you’re right, that one’s cruddy…
I’m home and I opened the house for a little while. It’s 64 degrees outside and 62 inside, so why burn oil when I can let the sun do it? I’ll have to close up again soon, but for now, yay!
It really doth suck being back to work. I liked the taste of retirement I got during my break - liked it a LOT! 1116 days. That’s calendar days, not work days.
Din-din will be chickie tits, sesame green beans with onion, and maybe cabbage? Then I can used the leftovers to make a big pot o’soup, with additional veggies, of course. Sounds like a plan.
swampy, I know you said barefoot, but the mental image I got was bare butt, which is your fault entirely. Thankfully, tho, it’s not as bad as FCD’s dream that involved bears (the animal kind, not the gay kind) and Madeline Albright, which led me to say something about Madeline being bare, which gave **FCD ** an annoying tic. So just be glad you’re not dealing with that!
FCM Madeline Albright bare with bears is the perviest thing I have ever read. Prevert!
The Wal-Mart closest to me, in Milpitas, is pretty nasty and dirty. I went there twice, the last time quite a while ago, so it might be better by now, but I wouldn’t bet on it. I grew up with K-Mart (Dyn-O-Mite shoes!), but much prefer Target. They treat their customers like customers, not thieves. The Target near me is brand new, though, complete with a Starbucks and Pizza Hut, and I have been in Targets that are closer to the K-Mart/Wal-Mart end of the scale, though.
SOB was by, and we had talked for a bit. He totally understands why I’m leaving (and appears that they lied to him about me AGAIN). I don’t even understand why they would do that? Oh, wait, I know, they told him that I said I didn’t want to work with him, while they told me there was no absolutely no way I would ever work with him again. So that way it’s my fault. He’s going to see if he can get my exit interview to be with the office managing partner, instead of HR. He asked me if I would be truthful if he did, and I said I would, so we’ll see. He also agreed to be a reference, as long as I spoke with him first to let him know who would be calling and what I was interviewing for. That seems fair, and I know he’s a stand up guy. I have one more person that I really want as a reference, but I’m kind of waiting for the news to spread first. I want to avoid client service seeing me as a trouble maker, they’re where the contacts are.
Sean, that’s the kind of thing I kept getting in trouble for!
Oh, did I mention that they have a new program rolling out in February, which I will blessedly miss? They are going to have daily, mandatory “quality” meetings every morning, based on Ritz-Carlton training. You know, everyone can’t be away from their desk at the same time (their rules), so I’m kind of wondering how that will work out. Will they hold them in shifts? By floor? By function? One big meeting and if you miss it, too bad, so sad, you’re not a team player? I’m leaning towards the latter option. Don’t ask me why they are on this wild hare about Ritz-Carlton training, you’d think they’d have noticed by now that we are not a 5 star hotel.
Jahdra --that is terrible, but also terribly funny. How apt and how good that you are getting out.
I did leave a message with my former therapist, and I am going to call my doctor as well. I think my response to things might be a big exagerrated ie, I might be depressed. Certainly my behavior over the past week is not my baseline. This is not to say that hubby doesn’t have his own issues etc, but for my part of things, I think I’d best get some clincial feedback.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and your concern. It means alot.
In quickly reading over the past few pages, I see something about Swampus having a nekkid picture puzzle on the internet. Or something…I could live without that link…
There’s also a Wal-Mart about equally distant from us in Glen Burnie, FCM, just off I-97, which is old and cruddy but at least not as crowded and nasty as the Bowie one. We went to Target this morning at 9:15 and the place was empty, though, so it was a nice quick trip. Probably even the Bowie Wal-Mart would have been okay, but there was nothing we needed there enough for me to skip out working any longer to go there. So we didn’t.
I’m on the home stretch…closing arguments. One claimant, two respondents; claimant’s opening closing argument is done, as well as the first respondent, so I’ve got the second one and then the claimant’s “last word” argument. Frankly, I hope he wins everything he asks for – one reason I’ve probably struggled so much with this case is that it involves a broker who essentially ripped off his 88-year-old client in the early stages of Alzheimer’s of a million dollars, basically every penny she had in the world. Too bad this isn’t a criminal trial, I’d love to see him find out what happens to creeps who render helpless old ladies destitute. It’s easier when it’s a nice, boring case involving some obscure point of accounting that I neither know about nor care about, so that I can just half-sleep my way through it.
I have no idea what din-din is. All I know is I’m not cooking it; and my rule is, if I don’t cook it, I don’t complain about it, I just eat it.
Mama Tiggs a friend of mine worked as the manager at the Glen Burnie mall Record Bar way back in the late 80s. He said that mall was a dump then - I can’t imagine what it looks like now.
We have a brand new WalMart about 10 minutes away. The GF goes there all the time. I hate, and only go there when she sees something that’s too big or expensive for her to pick up, or if’n I need emergency repair stuff late at night. Took me forty minutes to get a toilet plunger there a few days before Christmas. I swear that a woman further up in line (three registers open, 80 people in line) was paying for her purchases a penny at a time. Or she bought several dozen gift cards.
My sister used to work for a KMart down somewhere between Hudson and Orlando in Flahduh. She hated the company. Now she mispells the closed captioning on television shows.
Sean and all along I thought brain damaged bonobos did all that mispelled closed captioning.
I wish it would just hurry up and rain already! My bones ache, my sinuses hurt, how many more symptoms must I endure before it rains!
[del]ACSA[/del]ACBG has a meeting tonight. Good thing. I’m still not over what he said to me last night. When I talked with him earlier he said he really believes breakfast is what he wants for his bday supper. Of all the culinary treats in the world, the man wants bacon, eggs, grits and biscuits??? It’s a good thing for him I see weird as a good trait.
Yay!!! I found a big honkin’ bowl of frozen, leftover turkey chili here, so dinner’s going to be just that easy tonight!
yay!
And goon on ya rigs, talk to someone, it helps and it’s good that you see it. Maybe sit and have a cuppa tea while you’re there?
Thanks for the warm thoughts everyone. I am still without hot water, and have the cold blasting in the tub and kitchen sink. I have the space heater aimed under the sink and blasting away (my electric bill isn’t gonna like it) but that has done the trick before. I really don’t want to send any of my versions of li-li’s assorted husbands under the house to thaw the water, but I can only go one day with an icy sponge bath before I turn very cranky! The temperature is up to +20 with a windchill of +12 and the sky is snowing. A flock of snowbirds just flew past the window, I don’t know what their scientific name is, they are tiny birds which turn white in the winter. No, not ptarmigan, these are far too small to bother trying to eat, but they fly en mass, and perform amazing aerial maneuvers.
rebo are you familiar with Jig Zone? There are thousands of photos which can be arranged into multiple pieces and assorted shapes and worked, and you can also use your own photos and work them as puzzles. It’s one of my fav game places on the net!
Good on you rigs for instigating positive action for yourself. Living under the conditions you have been, in addition to winter, the holidays, and any other stressors in your life could very well be affecting (effecting?) your response to your husband’s issues. Hugs and prayers and lots of happy thoughts from me to you.
Now I am gonna have a plate of last night’s dinner. I was gonna wait until dinnertime, but some bear made me hungry talking about his beef stew.
Oh, you’ll enjoy this, I was talking with a friend about my bamboo/tropical/arctic decor theme, and my smart mouth daughter began laughing and said “Mom’s not a grizzly anymore, she’s turning into a panda!” to which I borrowed part of an FCM classic retort…“Bite me!”
I was going to mention JigZone too… Can’t remember how I found it originally and I haven’t been out there in a while, but it’s always fun.
Good on you for calling the therapist, rigs. Sounds like you’re definitely in a spot where it would be helpful to have a professional give you some feedback.
Add me to the list of those who pictured swampy nekkid.
Hope you survive the SIL OK, LiLi. Nothing more annoying than having to be polite to someone you don’t really like.
I’ve been thinking about being polite all afternoon because our governor-elect is in the process of appointing his cabinet. Unfortunately, I’m not impressed so far. He seems to be naming people who don’t have sufficient experience to lead large organizations. We’ve heard rumors about who might be our new big boss and all of them have been pretty disappointing. A couple of them are people I know and actively disrespect. I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but it’s not something I have control over, so I guess I’ll just deal with whatever comes…
I’m a great fan of Target. Partly because they treat you nicely and partly because you can get decent-quality stuff for a reasonable price. It always scares me to see how much I’ve spent annually in that place.
I’d just like to take a moment to recommend Mini Chicken Tacos from Trader Joe’s. They are teh yummmmmmmm.
These are my dishes.. They go with everything and are indestructible. My mom bought them in the seventies.
I also have some simple china that’s got a couple of little flowers that my parents bought just after they were married. I’d really like to have some dishes that I picked out myself, but I’m not sure what I’d pick. Seems silly for one person to have three sets of dishes. So, for the moment, the black mugs I bought at Target last year are serving as my personalized selection… I like everyone else’s China. I think my favorite was kai’s; not sure why the roses struck my fancy.
That partner story was appalling, Jah. The way companies can throw away money for no apparent reason makes me grrrr . But to wind up letting an innocent person almost be the scapegoat… Truly awful. So, once again, congrats on leaving!
Where’s Drae? She’s hardly been around this week, has she?
I’m taking tomorrow off to loll about banishing The Sick from me and to catch up on some of the stuff I wanted to get done on Monday.
Guess I should think about doing something semi-productive. Or maybe read a book or something.

Well, we’re in Hawaii, at the Kona Makai. Unfortunately, my FTP program refuses to connect to anywhere, so I can’t upload any pictures. Maybe because we’ve got a dial-up connection. There’s a bunch of unsecured wireless networks in the complex, but none are strong enough for us to connect to.
Yesterday we spent getting re-aquainted with the neighborhood and buying foodstuffs. We had dinner at Rocky’s Pizza & BBQ, Wifey had eggplant parmeson and I had some of the best carbonara I’ve had in a long time.
Today we laid around for a while and then went to the farmer’s market up in Kona. Then we came back to the condo and had Gack-a-moley and salsa with chips, and margarhitas(sp?) on the lanai. Later we’ll have some scampi and a salad.
We have no particular plans except that we’ll probably go snorkling at least once, and we might drive around to Hilo, I dunno.
Traffic here is much worse this time, dunno why. Maybe the time of year. On the other hand, what have we got to hurry for?
Aloha
Where’s my fricking snow? It’s January! It’s raining, and I don’t have to wear gloves!
Hello and goodbye to everyone. Jah, congrats. Bob, no giving old ladies heart attacks. I may pop in tomorrow morning, but then I’m away all weekend. Kisses all around.
I’m home. I missed the game tonight because of work, but it sucked so its not so bad. More work in the morning, then maybe I’ll clean the car. Th Wally world near me just expanded, so it and the Targets are fairly clean. I go to Wally World, because it’s in the same center as work.
FCM, Albright bare with a bear (N.O.S.), isn’t that furry territory?
Kai, hope you get defrosted soon. K.C. is a girl pom, she even like to get ribbons in her hair at the groomers.
Glad you got an appointment, rigs. Just don’t mention bare Bears or humping hose.
LiLi, it’s 58 Amurikin right now. Which is about right for N.C. in January.
The interview went well. I think I will have the job if the girl who has it now doesn’t mend her ways. The boss said he halfway expects her to quit when he gives her the verbal warnings she has coming for her lack of work, behavior, attitude and violations of the dress code. Who in the world would think hiphuggers and a belly shirt were appropriate office attire?
Then off to the game, which we won 4-3 in overtime. With a really good goalie fight thrown in for extra excitement!
Tomorrow night we are retiring the jersey of one of our former players, and I get to be part of an on-ice presentation before the game when the Booster Club is giving him an engraved watch. I hope I don’t slip on the ice and make a fool of myself!
Swampy, your earlier posts made me hungry for beef stew, so I’ll have to make a pot when I get back from Huntville on Sunday.
And I don’t know what is up with the temperature here, but it’s 11:30 pm and 65 degrees. Something just isn’t right about this. I’m not a fan of cold weather but it’s not right to be hot in January.
Good, SCL!
kai, Taters, yesterday I got an extremely short call from Mom. She knew it was going to be short but she had to tell this to someone or explode and as she said “if I went and exploded in the living room, who would clean the walls? Your brothers? HAH!” So apparently she’s not planning on exploding in the living room unless I’m nearby and can do the cleaning.
Anyway. The Nephew was born Oct 18, 2005 (I know, I know, I owe y’all pics, I promise I’ll find an uploading-place as soon as I get 'net at the apartment!). So he’s 14 1/2 months old, not exactly ancient.
Yesterday both his Mom and her Mom complained that “he is already too old! They’re so much cutier when they’re babies!”
Oooo-k… so, now that he’s learning at the speed of lightning and he can already communicate and his uncle is able to spend quality time with him rather than look at him and ask “uh, do they come with a manual? You guys mind if I don’t hold him much till he can talk?” He’s too big.
Imagine what they’ll say when he breaks 6’? :smack:
Morning all! It’s mild, wet and windy here…just perfect weather for being stuck in the office all day. We have a big science education expo going on which involves about 3,000 visitors so our part of campus is a bit busy. The expo is taking place in the Great Hall, with a bunch of marquees and stuff set up outside in Chancellor’s Court, and the associated admin staff are using some of the committee rooms on the corridor outside the part of Aston Webb where I work so there’s a constant stream of people wandering around looking lost and confused.
Last night I made a fab veggie stew and served it on these dishes which I really only have half a set of! Reason being, they were a wedding present and got shared between the two of us when I packed up and left, having found out the Ideal Man was in fact a drunken wife-beater. Hmm…no sensible person’s going to stand for that, are they? Or even fall down the stairs for it.
Anyhow, the stew was yummy, 'im indoors turned his nose up at it because it had no dead stuff in, so that means I’ve got one portion in the freezer and another one in the fridge for tonight.
It’s really quiet here so I brought my course books with me today, thought I might get a bit of quiet reading done as I’ve got a fair bit of work to do and there’s a whisper paper to write /whisper next weekend.
It’s my friend Hazel’s birthday on Monday so there’s the possibility of buffday drinks in Brummijam on Saturday night too…that’ll be a fun-packed weekend!
Nava, he’ll have to move out and get a job and an apartment by 4. In other news, it’s raining here, so no car cleaning today(drat).
Well, then, I guess if his uncle hasn’t been able to get hisself married by then he can always adopt a Nephew. Mom’s going to have the Oldsters (or one at a minimum) living with her by then.
Can I say it? Can I, can I, can I?
Iiiiiiiiiit’s FRIIIIIIIIIDAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Someone else do it pretty, I’m leaving work already. I like this idea of working 9h M-Th and then only 4 on Friday, it’s nice having the afternoon off.
Aren’t the veggies in the stew dead? Or has English cuisine really changed?
SNL -there are nurses who wear low rise scrub bottoms and cropped tops. Ugh, ick and ew.
Off to work (again)-am off the weekend, but back at the insanity on Monday…I did tell the library that I would only be in once a week thru January-this is too insane for me. Kids go back Monday as well (thank God-I love my kids, but.).
