puggy I’m grrrrrrrr… right along with ya on that. No reason at all why they should be draggin’ their feet on that info.
MBG it’s tales of stoopid that just make my day.
This is my everyday, or as Corelle likes to say casual dinnerware.

I have a lunch date and it is pouring rain. Us kitties don’t like going out in the rain. It will be worth it for stuffed shrimps from Rose Hill Seafood!
Found out last night that one of the teams in our league, the Florida Seals, have been locked out of the Silver Spurs Arena for non-payment. The players have been kicked out of their apartments and are stuffed in a couple of motel rooms. I hate stuff like this - it is so unfair to the players and the fans. The players haven’t been paid in a couple of weeks, and I don’t even know if they were able to get their gear out of the Arena. We were scheduled to play them (at Silver Spurs) three times in the next couple of weeks so I don’t know what is going to happen with that.
My lunch date just got postponed by half an hour - maybe the rain will have tapered off by then. This kind of heavy rain just makes me want to sleeeeeeeeeeep.
Congrats on the raise, Bobbio!
Why am I drinking my oatmeal?
I’ll tell ya… The place I occasionally get a breakfast bagel sandwich at offers “Not Instant” oatmeal. So, for a change of pace, I get some. I’m expecting nice hearty stuff, but instead, it’s oatmeal soup, and I’ll be pointing that out to them the next time I go there. Tastes OK, but it’s way too liquid. Bah.
Further proof that oatmeal is satanic in nature.
It’s waaaaaay too warm outside. A tornado watch has been issued. The sky is a weird grayish green.
Snakes I’m jealous! You know why.
Yay, Bobbio!
Nava, my mom feels the same way about kids over the age of 2. She gets bored with 'em after that.
Puggy, I hate it when people act like you are inconveniencing them by asking them to do their job.
I went to Target last night, and got off lightly, only $28. And my deoderant was on sale AND had instant coupons attached. Made my night. However, I discovered that Panera makes much better bread than salads. Blech. Then I was off to Michael’s for a Kacha-Kacha. I had forgotten until I got the checkstand that I still had a Michael’s gift card.
This is my regular dinnerware, which leads to another work story. When I was with my old group, I used to bake a lot. Mostly cookies, brownies and cakes, and occasionally candy. I usually brought brownies in their pan and cookies on paper plates, but my cakes are pretty hefty, generally being the pound cake type. So for cakes, I used my actual plates. One Christmas, my mom gave me a fantastic basket full of stuff, but I was primarily interested in the basket, which was in the shape of a large tray. I could fit 2 cakes, or a cake and a couple of dozen cookies, or a whole lot of cookies on it. So one day I used it to bring in 2 cakes and a large tin of candy. I dropped the food off in break area, and toted my basket back to my desk and went about my day. When I came back from lunch, the tray was gone. Vanished. That really ticked me off, and since I sat in an isolated area, there wasn’t any one around to see anything. No one confessed and the tray never showed up again. At the end of the day, I went to the kitchen and they’d polished off one cake and most of the candy, and there was half of the other cake left. So I covered the cake up and left it. I left late-ish, so there weren’t many people still in the office. The next day, it was gone, plate and all. I know very well what happened, somebody took the cake, plate and all, home. I didn’t care about the cake, eat it, have food fights, take it home and freeze it, but I wanted my plate back! So I quit baking for the ungrateful bastids and that’s why I only have 3 dinner plates.
Satanic? Nah. I don’t get into a mood for the stuff often, but today’s bowl was a buzzkill.
At least my coffee is good, now that I have a personal french press at work. It even makes the free stuff palatable.
If it’s Oatmeal Stout, I understand completely, and a bit jealous…
Oatmeal is good for the following:

The weather radio just went off again. It does that when there’s watches and warnings. Everytime it does that I almost fall out of my chair. The dang thing is LOUD when it does that.
See previous post concerning Oatmeal Stout. I’m ashamed of you, not considering one of the royal members of the beerverage family.
Sounds very tornado-ey, swampy (the green is the giveaway). Stay safe.
That situation sucks, Puggy. Hope you can find someone in that office who actually cares and will get the job done. Make sure you’ve got names of the people who have failed to do their jobs and try to get a hold of their higher-ups. It drives me crazy when people forget that they’re supposed to help people who are probably having all kinds of difficulties anyway (cuz otherwise they wouldn’t be calling). Is there a way to contact the “legal” department directly to find out whether they really have Barbee Doll’s POA? (Cuz I’m picturing the paperwork in an OUT tray labeled “Legal.”)
I love oatmeal. I make non-instant oatmeal in the microwave. Turns out perfectly every time: 1/3 c. rolled oats, handful of raisins/dried cranberries/dried cherries, cinnamon or Penzey’s Baking Spice (to taste), 2/3 c. water. Zap at full power 2 minutes. Stir. Add sugar and milk. Yum. Sometimes I mix in some Greek yogurt. That’s yum too.
::Pause as GT retrieves oatmeal from microwave and eats it::
Mmmm that was good.
Now I’m off to run the errands I mentioned upthread…

That better Bobbio?
The greenish-gray is gone but it’s gettin’ dark again. Storms a’comin’ I’m afeered. Ima go give a lesson in billing. Yet again. I’m supposed to be rid of billing, dangit! Gotta learn them younguns though, I guess. Well, she’s a year younger, so that makes her a youngun.
I love Oatmeal Stout. That is some goooooood stuff.
I also happen to like oatmeal. But, cooked in MILK. I like to add brown sugar and butter. Not exactly slimming, but I do use SKIM milk.
Off to mappoint again. I am really hating this program today.
Kai and gt, thanks for the info on JigZone! It’s great! I can now get my daily fix.
Congrats, Bobbio! Glad to hear the interview went well, SCL. It’s about 65° F here and absolutely beautiful. Swampy, those storms just went through here, and I heard they killed a couple of people in Louisiana. Be careful!
I already forgot everything else I read. I hope when I get off this medicine my brain will come back. Number 45 of 48 tonight! Almost done, thank Og.
Ok - off to get out the vacuum and the mop, right after I do just one more jigsaw puzzle.
Happy Friday, all!
Well that was easy. I went up to see what was the problem with the billing, but whilst I was betwixt my office and hers (in separate buildings) she figured it out. I am glad. So was she. This particular program is quirky and is sometimes tough to figure out, so it’s like a small victory to be able to work around the quirks. Anywho… YAY! no problems for me.
As I type this I am watching the dawn through the black lace of the spruce branches. The sky above is a deep charcoal fading into a dove grey. There is a fog layer lying just above the tree line which is indigo, below that the horizon is an ocher which I know will soon flame into coral, peach and rose, with a line of green at the horizon. Then the sun will spill shafts of gold as it begins it’s dance low across the sky, and the shadows from the spruce will begin long and blue against the snow, shorten mid day only to stretch long again by 3:30 as the sun sinks behind Spruce Island. It’s cold, +10 degrees, no wind chill factor, but the bitterness has left for now. Jeff came by last night after work just as the hot water began to run. He checked all of my pipes and connections (oh dear…) and checked under the house to make sure there was no leak, and then went on his way. I got a very hot shower before bed and was thankful.
I’ve more to comment on, but I am at the end of Insommnia and need to finish it. I’ll be back, y’all behave while I’m gone!
It is pouring! No thunderboomers but RAINING!!! And warm. Still weirdly warm.
If that’s the Stephen King book, I hope you aren’t as disappointed in the ending as I remember being.
It’s kind of raining here too.
Any tornadies? I just looked at the map, and there were a few Jawjuh counties colored red down your way…
Good heavens, I don’t think I have had oatmeal in almost eight years. And I like oatmeal! I so rarely eat breakfast that I often forget about breakfast foods. I am going to have to head to the grocery today, though I don’t like beer so I won’t be mixing it with stout. I wonder how well it would mix with vodka… … … no. No that woud be a bad idea.
Its not quite raining here at the moment, but it has been on and off for the last couple of days. At this is freaking Michigan! Normally we are heaped in snow around now, yet I don’t think it has snowed in almost a month. Not that I am complaining, I much prefer things this way.
Now on to the sad stuff…
I know that a lot of the MMPers are pet people, and I need some advice from pet people right about now. Next week my SO’s dog, Blitzen, is being put to sleep. The decision was made in early December because Blitzen is simply getting to old, she is already 14 (or it might have been 15) and has increasingly severe arthritis and other bone and muscle problems that are begining to cause her constant pain (you can see her visibly wince whenever she has to stand up). My SO has had Blitzen since she was 4 (my SO was 4 that is, Blitzen was a puppy), so she can hardly recall not having her around. I have only known Blitzen for a few months now and I am fairly depressed about this, but having never had a pet of my own I can’t even imagine what my SO is feeling like. I plan on being with her as much as I can next week, but I really have no idea of what I can do for her besides that. Is there any advice that people who have gone through this before could give me?
Yay, Bobbio! I still haven’t had my end-of-period review, since my former branch head isn’t a branch head any more, he doesn’t seem to care. But he has to get it done in the next 2 weeks, and I’m currently scheduled with him on Thursday (again!!) I still have no idea what my raise will be.
It’s been rainy and mild here, more of the same for tomorrow, and rumor has it that Sunday will see 70 degrees!!! yoiks!
