Last I heard, she was paddling down a river in Egypt, but modeling a nice pair of metal bracelets anyway.
Her lesson learned today: Your friends may only be friends until they’re sitting in front of Johnny Law, then they turn on you.

doggie servant, I am well aware of what lost history book girl was smoking. It most definitely does not add to one’s IQ.
It is COOOOOOOLD here. They’re talking about snow around the Tuesday through Wednesday timeframe. Oh joy  .
I have some interesting news to report, but it’ll have to wait. I need to log for now. Hugs and smooches to all.
Weather update: It’s raining cats and dogs here, I just stepped in a poodle.(Hi Spats!)
Taters! Come back! You’re not allowed to post a teaser like that and then disappear!
Exciting evening continues. More jigsaws (I blame kai) and more Remington Steele (still amusing). And I’m ingesting liquids.
I know why you’re partial to that pattern, rosie… What do I win?
Sorry about the rough day, rigs.
Oh…and definitely no fair teasing us, Taters!
Off to beddie bye…

The on-ice presentation went very well. I didn’t fall down, but the President of the Booster Club did. Oops! I had a death grip on the boards all the way to the carpet!
We won the game 5-1, with a couple of rousing good fights. I love hockey!
I have to be ready at 10:30 tomorrow morning to leave for Huntsville - we’re meeting the caravan at noon. Our group has about 10 people and there is another group of 12 going, so we’ll make our presence heard. We all have cowbells in my group - Huntsville hates us. I am in the office getting my fill of kitty lovin’ since it will be late Sunday afternoon before I get back. I think I can go that long without kitty kisses…
Canine Manservant, the league officially severed ties with the Florida Seals today and held a dispersal draft via conference call. So 7 players have a team, and the others are free agents. I feel bad for them, and for the fans - especially the season ticket holders who don’t have a chance in hell of getting their money back. We’ll be due some refunds as well, because we still had games left to play them at home. I’ll just roll it over into my playoff package.
Since I may not get to post in the morning, everyone have a nice weekend!
I am very sleepy, my back is aching and have the beginning of a sinus headache (the barometer is dropping…again) so if I miss anyone, please forgive.
yeah, I said if…it should read “to those whom I miss, please forgive”!
Sean I think we have covered Stephen King lightly in the past, let me tell you in a little more depth how I feel about him and the role he has played in my life. I was in high school, part of a furiously dysfunctional family, when Carrie was published. As I progressed through school and into real life, I followed his writing, and a lot of time when my life sucked I was able to disassociate from my problems by immersing myself in his writing. I think, in my rational mind, that is why I am able to suspend disbelief and become invested with his characters as completely as I am, whereas I am not able to with other authors, like Dean Koontz. In all honesty the only book he’s published which I just have never been able to really care about is Tommyknockers, and I was not surprised in the least when he revealed that it was written while he was at his worst point in his addictions. I love Insomnia, and I love the ending, and it’s part of my countdown, reading all the books with Dark Tower allusions in preparation to my re-reading the Dark Tower series again. I enjoy a lot of fantasy, horror and suspense novels, but I do cut Mr. King a lot more slack than I do any other author. I also enjoy Tabitha’s Nodd’s Ridge series as well. I’m not quite a fangirl, but I would give up my eye teeth for the opportunity to spend an evening with the two of them!
Who has the Corell with the ivy pattern? I still have part of that set. See, my everyday dishes are a mismatch bunch from wildly different sets, and until the kids are grown and I am in charge of the kitchen again I don’t even try any more. I suppose that is part of my desire for a complete set of Johnson Bros. Rose Chintz. I would even settle for just enough for company tea. I love the pattern enough though that those five surviving dinner plates from my mother’s wedding china (the first wedding, which produced my brothers and I) were hand carried on the ferry from Seattle to Larsen Bay, and then back to Kodiak! My mom has also given me either five or six heavy stoneware (I think) dinner plates, each with a different botanical print. The reason I can’t remember precisely how many I have is because after my kids and the skiffman broke the one complete place setting she had given me I wrapped them up and stashed them away. It would be sweet if I had a complete set of those for everyday, and the Rose Chintz for special, but in my real world, it’s probably not gonna happen. A girl can dream though, right?
I love oatmeal and all other types of mush, porridge, whatever you want to call it. Now I have a craving for fried cornmeal mush, that may need to be Sunday’s breakfast.
McCellofellow I will echo what others have said, just be there for her. I have gone through this process too many times, not necessarily with very old pets, and not always with euthanasia, but grief is grief, and a beloved pet’s passing can be as heartbreaking as losing a family member. I am so sorry, but it sounds as if it’s a kindness to let Blitzen go peacefully. That won’t make it any less emotionally wrenching, but it helps in the long run to remember what she had been like as a younger dog, and to acknowledge that she’s old and in pain now, and that letting her go gently is a final act of kindness your SO can give her. my eyes are leaking again Just be there, and let her feelings determine when and if to add a new dog to her life.
Hey SCL! Have a good time, and I hope you don’t fall on the ice!
rosieposie since the pattern is called Naomi Rose, and I think the rose reference is too obvious, and if I remember correctly you are Jewish, I am guessing that your name is Naomi? Do I win? What about the fact that one of my daughters is named Naomi, do I get a bigger,. better prize if I am right?
I can’t sit here any longer, so I am off to my comfy bed to lounge and watch Law & Order. I’ll check in with y’all sometime tomorrow.
kai - the prize you get is the satisfaction of a puzzle solved.
But, uh-oh! now everyone knows my real name and can track me down! Oh NO!
I KNOW the IRL names and addresses of **Rosie, FCMom, Swampus, **and that soapy Bum who’s out slouching in Hawaii. I also know enough about Sean and the MIA Ellen Cherry that I can fill in the blanks in about 30 seconds.
Y’all are luckier than hell that I know what it’s like to be stalked.
I ain’t worried about Bobbio stalking me cause I know as much about him as he does me and he knows I’d stalk back.
There’s logic in that somewhere. I think.
Mornin’ Y’all! It’s a foggy mornin’ here in south Jawja. Should be sunny later on with a high in the mid 70s. We might even go do sump’n outside just cause. Or not. Ima make waffles and bacon in a little bit. I gots to motivate first. I have to do it cause I already hauled out the waffle maker. That means I’ve made the commitment. ACBG’s birthday supper will be breakfast. He made the official decision last night. Today I will go buy the special bacon from the burly butcher guy. That looks kinda dirty don’t it?
Oh well, a few more sips of caffiene and a waffle makin’ I will go. Later!
Oh, Kai that’s moi with the Corelle in the ivy pattern.
I’m up! I’m up! Having coffee and about to get to the Christmas cards… Should be exciting.
Back later.

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and it is 60 degrees outside. That being said, I am going to go watch a hockey practice.
I have to work today, otherwise it might just be a perfect day. UPS brought the gift I ordered for my mom. She’s a nurse, so I got her the flu
psst…rosie, we knew your name anyways, it’s in your online photo album.
The worst part of starting to get a head cold is the mornings. Ya’ know whaen you’re head fills up overnight with ick?
Ick.
Havin’ some muffins with cinnamon sprinkled on them and coffee, and I’m feeling better now that I’ve gotten a few noisy, messy honks oiut of the way. If I get to feeling much better after the cable guy comes by, I might venture a trip to the gym.
Wife has some errands to run, I’ll go with her so she has some eye candy to keep her occupied.
We’re debating whether this evening is a stay home and watch football while I grill a couple steaks night, or a movie/dinner date night.
I know you’re all on pins and needles so I’ll keep you informed.
Morning each! Well, it’s been a busy day here already. This morning we went on a guided walk around Tipton (jewel of the Black Country, “Pearl of the Birmingham Riviera”…) with a jenyoowine English Tourist Board Blue Badge Guide, finishing off with lunch at the infamous Pie Factory.
I had a veggie balti pie with mash and peas, and 'im indoors had steak and ale pie with peppercorn sauce. OK, they’re not proper pies, they’re baked in a casserole dish with a pastry top and everyone knows that a proper pie has a pastry base as well. Was very yummy though.
After that, we got the train back to Wolves and did a bit of shopping in town. I needed some new trainers because mine are almost coming apart at the seams due to being worn so often. I picked up a cheap pair just for casual wear, when my bank account can face it I have to go to the sports shop and get some serious trainers ready for when I go back to the gym.
Then it was back home for a cup of tea and a bath, and catch up with a few other things. I’ve just renewed our annual travel insurance because it ran out at the end of last year and I have to get a current policy number to send with our bookings for the Dead Rat Ball in March. So that’s out of the way now, and all I have left to do is finish wrapping a birthday present for Hazel and think of something to write in a card for Gill (the friend whose father passed away a couple of days ago).
This evening we’re heading back into Birmingham for Hazel’s birthday night out which starts at a pub called the Old Joint Stock, a converted bank building that’s rather impressive inside, and is also one of the few Fuller’s Brewery pubs outside London. Beerverages will ensue!
Must be careful not to drink much tonight nor to get led astray by 'im indoors because I’ve got some studying to do tomorrow ahead of whisper writing next weekend’s paper /whisper.
Since you all know so much about each other, I’m very happy to be too far away to be properly stalked!
Good morning everyone!
I’m sorry you’re feeling icky, kai. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
It was very stormy and windy here yesterday and last night. Looking outside this morning, though, you wouldn’t know it.
So, on to the interesting news. I find it somewhat prophetic that someone had asked about my daughter’s out of state “friend”.
Last night she informed me that she had asked him to her winter formal and he’s coming out to take her. I was somewhat taken aback. I asked her if she had told Mr. Taters yet, and she told me she hadn’t. She was relying on me to be the go-between. Greeeeaaaaaat.
So, I told the hubby. He is not happy. Not happy, AT ALL. We spoke about it over dinner. I think it’s still unresolved. Crap, there’s more to write, but I need to log again. I’ll come back later, I promise, with more tidbits.
But if he’s coming out to take her, surely you will meet him? And get to know him? It’s a dinner dance, not a marriage. I am confused?
I am back from groceries. Long day ahead. Too much to write about (none of it interesting anyways). have a good day, all.
Oh, and the day at work wasn’t bad yesterday–it was just weird to have people fired around me and find out that someone I thought I knew was actually doing illegal things at work. Not a normal Friday, for sure.
Mornin’ all!
Not doing much today (so what’s new, huh?)! I did actually manage to sweep and mop the kitchen yesterday, and today I’m, um, recovering. Yeah, that’s the ticket! I made biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast.
Mr. Rebo went out to get a haircut and browse the stores with gift cards in hand. He has to fix a leaky pipe under the sink sometime this weekend. He bought the parts last weekend! It’s not bad, and only on one side. He hates to put on his “plumber hat.” He much prefers his “running around goofing off” hat.
It’s icky and cloudy here today, but not cold, thank Og. But I’m still gonna grill some burgers and hot dogs for dinner.
I hope all you sickies feel better soon.
Who’s up for Monday? Y’all have been fighting so much for the privilege, I can’t remember! (No, I did NOT just volunteer!)
Taters I take it the big upset is over her inviting him without clearing with Mr. Taters and you first. IMO that’s what she should have done. Not a real good move on her part. But, what do I know.
We went to town after consuming waffles and bacon. I bought, brace yourselves, new bathroom and kitchen rugs! WOOHOO! Well, the old ones were lookin’ kinda ratty so it was time. They’re green. All of 'em. Different shades though for each room. Yeah, it was a struggle to decide which shade of green to put in which room but after much agonizing a decision was reached.
And that’s the excitement from swampland.
Thanks for all of the advice regarding my SO’s pet. And BooFae, I think I got a little something in my eye reading the story about your cat.
Sometimes I am forced to wonder why I even bother with PCs anymore. Normally I would be frothing angry at my desktop at this point, but really? I just don’t have the energy anymore. I give up, give in, it has won. I no longer even care. I have been struggling with these things for the last six years with a statistically improbable level of non-user related errors (ie I have had, over the years, a 60% failure rate for motherboards right out of the box. The standard failure rate for brand new motherboards is about 1%).
Oh, I’ll probably look at it again tomorrow. Swap out hard drives, re-install windows (third time in a week), fiddle with it until I get it working again. But the only real reason I am even going to bother is that there is about 500Gb of data that I cannot easily access with my Mac on that computer.
Strokes his iBook screen affectionately You’ll never abandon me, will you?
I’ve had a nap, and more coffe, time to head out to work.
Al, 500GB? To quote Fark.com “That’s a lotta dead kittens” ![]()
