Families -- a New Year's MMP

You don’t fool me MBG! Not for one minute, young man! You’re as addicted to Jig[del]Crack[/del]Zone as the rest of us. Fess up! :stuck_out_tongue:

BooFae don’t think I haven’t noticed you have a paper to write, young lady! You say you’re studying, getting your notes together and such? Well, you better be. Next weekend I expect you to get in your room, buckle down and get that paper done! You hear me? Don’t look at me like that! You have all this week to get prepared and I expect you to do so. By this time next week, I expect a finished paper no excuses, young lady! You better listen to me! Or there’ll be no movies or mall for you for a month. I mean it! Sigh Guess I best stock up on nerve tonic again.

Canned potatoes belong only in school lunchrooms. There’s no excuse for 'em elsewhere.

Canned potatoes have to be some kind of commie plot. Plus they just sound icky. ICK!

I’m taking a break from the kitchen, but I’ve been very productive. I made a dozen mini-spinach-n-mushroom-quiches, nuked a bunch of turkey bacon for **FCD ** (a favorite snack of his), picked a chickie carcass and tossed the pickin’s into the broth - chickie soup to follow. Plus I rotissed a pork roast for dinner, and steamed some broccoli, and sauteed onions-n-mushrooms - it was a yummy dinner! Oh, and I made some cherry-strawberry sugar-free gelatin. Dishwasher is doing its thing right now, and when I’m rested, I’m going to pack our breakfasts and lunches for tomorrow.

This eating healthy is a lot of work!!! But I figure with all we used to spend eating out, it should be worth it. Both of us could stand to shed some poundage, and doing it together makes it easier. We shall see.

And another weekend winds down. <sigh>

Nope, am not am not am NOT!!!

Ok, a little, but not a lot.

I wish the working area was bigger so you could put the unused pieces off to the side somewhere.

ugh, work tomorrow, but then FREEDOM for two days. [sub]perhaps I shouldn’t be so excited about such a small thing[/sub]
Kids go back to school tomorrow! Yippee!

I’m home? Did ya’ll miss me?

We lost to Huntsville 6-5 in overtime. We were behind 5-2, and our coach got thrown out of the game for lobbing three water bottles at the referee. Asswipe deserved it - on of the H’ville players had his stick between the legs of one of our players, who was down on the ice, and damn near de-nutted him. Ref didn’t call anything (as usual for the game so far) and Coach went ballistic. After he left the bench, our guys came back and tied up the game.

I’m not sure I will go back to H’ville. I am really tired of their rude, classless fans and last night was the icing on the cake. Their team mascot is a 'wolf", named “Chaos”, and I looked around to find him miming taking a dump on my head. Of course, the home fans just thought that was the funniest thing they had ever seen. I raised enough hell that I got a conference with the team owner, who promised to send the mascot out to the team bus to apologize to me after the game. He never showed. The team owner did apologize, and told me to contact him for free tickets next time I come back. He will be getting a letter from me thanking him for taking the time to talk with me, and letting him know that his employee didn’t follow his instructions. I hope the kid gets fired for it. I can take taunting and joking as well as the next person, but that was too much. I don’t have a lot of interest in going back. but I’m not going to say I won’t go because that would be cutting off my nose to spite my face. Our Booster Club is probably going to do a bus trip up there before this season is over.

I finally got to go to a resturant some friends of mine have raved about for years. It sucked. The steaks were ok, but waaaaaaaaay overpriced, and the service was beyond bad. Merely bad service would have been an improvement on this girl. There was no excuse - the resturant was not busy. I had to tell her four times what kind of salad dressing I wanted - feta, the house dressing. I ended up with blu cheese. Not even good blu cheese. The bar didn’t have Parrot Bay rum. A very disappointing and expensive dinner.

I did make the trip with some good friends and other that the above we had a great time. We got back about 4:30 this afternoon and I took a nap. Bad, bad idea - I know I won’t sleep tonight now. I guess I’ll have to check out Jigzone.

I got chicken in the oven, and sports on the tube and PC. Since I am doing the MMP, do you want A. the much delayed MMP from last year, or B. a random cat typing MMP?

Like it matters, db! :stuck_out_tongue:

How about doing the MMP all in rhyme? Or from the point of view of a chair rail? Or not - whatever. You’ve been here long enough to know how it goes.

Looks like the computer ate my masterpiece, so I’ll have to throw some crap together.

sigh and no one recalls my noob MMP OP? sob

Is everyone working on the same puzzle and “forgot” to clue me in?

Canned potatoes are right up there with dried potatoes (as in the scalloped etc. mixes) and the horrid instant mashed potatoes. I grew up growing potatoes, and anything but fresh just ain’t right!

Last night the weather channel said that it was gonna be clear and cold today. The first time I got up it was snowing. It was rather early, so I thought I’d nap a bit longer and the sun would be out when I got up again. Nope, snoing harder, and it’s Freezing A** Cold. My friend Jeff is house watching for my best girlfriend, and her water froze up. He got it running again, but he is concerned as the condos on either side of her are empty, and last year the pipes burst in one of them and flooded my friend’s basement. Needless to say I have all my faucets blasting, and am thankful that skiffman is home to deal with any problems.

I just sent skiffman and #3 to the grocery to get some essentials…like ibuprophen, I ran out last night, not good with this weather. He is making halibut coated in Panko and sauteed, (the halibut was caught yesterday, yum!) with sides of some pasta and corn, #3’s favorites. I’m thinking about oatmeal raisin cookies, #3 will help me bake. I’ll get the venison stew started tonight and finish it off tomorrow. I have to cook the octopus tomorrow as well, yum! I also need to rummage around for enough glass jars so I can make a batch of pickled fish. (salmon)

Other than that I am going to begin working up the pedigrees for my dogs to put up on the website I am building. Woo hoo, I live such an on the edge lifestyle…sheesh!

Kai, I remember your first MMP–you’re part of the reason I joined. That and learning to bake bread by Lissla!

Canned potatoes are for camping…

kai, don’t feel bad, I don’t remember my first MMP, either. It was only 60 today, so I went and bought a snow shovel. :dubious: That should guarantee that it will never snow in Raleigh ever again. I hate dehydrated/canned/boxed taters(N.O.T.) too.

SCL, sorry the road trip sucked. Buffalo fans are like that, except they come to your arena to act like hooligans.

Of course we remember your noob MMP, kai…silly kai. I almost added it to my examples and then decided that you couldn’t have been all that new when you wrote it. So I was wrong, was I?

Well, I made soup and just ate some. Yum. It’s going to be lunch tomorrow as well.

Glad you made it back safely, SCL. Too bad it wasn’t a better experience. I’m always scared to recommend restaurants, vacation spots, just about anything where taste and quality could vary.

I agree that the workspace could be bigger, MBG, but it’s free and the pictures are pretty and after a while, you develop a sense for how much space you actually need for the puzzle and …voila…there’s space to put unused pieces. I tried one of the Tetris puzzles and gave up pretty quickly. I can do the classic and bulb-shaped ones pretty well, but I’m not quite up to some of the others. Yet. And, no, kai, AFAIK we’re all working on different ones, just for an extended period of time. We are all blaming you and Rebo for this. Lemmie and I are completely innocent as we were the ones who didn’t mention JigZone until you’d ever-so-kindly provided a link. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I’m sleepy and it’s moving on towards bedtime, so I’m going to toddle off and read for a while before facing the challenge of a new week… (How can it almost be Monday already!!!)

GT

Hi and Bye - dealt with another migraine today - after my friend called this morning, I crawled back into bed, watched Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, slept til my brother called to tell me that younger nephew, having never taken a pre law class in his life, scored a 175 (out of 180) on a practice LSAT, (His newlywed wife is on full scholarship at a Boston law school (not Harvard, but in the biz just as prestigeous) and if he does as well on the actual as on the practice (he’s going to take a few more practice tests just to make sure it’s not a fluke) he should be able to get a scholarship as well.) watched Howl’s Moving Castle (in English, as opposed to in Japanese with subtitles) and now I am off to beddiebye.

Evenin’ all.

Not much accomplished today, other than bunches o’ laundry. We sketti and meatballs for dinner.

I’ve never eaten canned taters, and don’t plan to. They squick me out too.

I’m not a huge fan of instant potatoes, but have run across a brand, hold on a sec, lemme check; Paradise Valley All Natural Mashed potatoes. They are actually pretty damn decent for instant.

Oh, time to WoW it up again. I’ll read you all tomorrow!

I have…lemme count 'em…8 of the Kid’s friends on the family room floor playing some card game, Independence Day is blasting on the T & V and I’m on my whatever number beerverage this is.

Her pal Rachedl, who is spending the night and so has permission to drink here (and is also 21) brought replacement beerverages, and I have e-mailed in my sick day for tomorrow just in case.
