Family Guy 100th Episode - Major character dies? <SPOILERS>

Check out this article. Stewie kills Lois?!?

I thought he gave up on that after the first few seasons. Wow.

Although it is true the 100th episode is called Stewie Kills Lois, it’s part of a two-parter. The second part is called…Lois Kills Stewie.

Personally, I’m kind of skeptical about how recent episodes of Family Guy have been panning out. It has definitely changed, but for the better? I’m worried that the writers are running out of steam. When Family Guy first arrived on the scene it was a fresh source of commentary on everything, particularly American ignorance. I also enjoy the references to obscure films and television shows, with time it began to establish it’s presence, becoming more and more sure of itself and it’s brand of humor. With the 100th episode and the “huh?” that arose with Stewie actually killing Lois left me scratching my head. Come on, really.

The show seems to have gone from witty humor and good satire to everyones mean to Meg, followed by Stewie acting gay, followed by an obscure 80’s reference, and repeat.

Followed by off-color jokes and either a musical number from an obscure Broadway musical with new lyrics or a verbatim performance of a musical number from a well-known Broadway musical in an unusual setting.

Shipoopi, anyone?

I often wondered how many people got the musical numbers references- I mean I watch a lot of old film, but have never had a clue what any of them were referring to. Is the audience for musical theatre acutally large, and I’m just not clued in, or is it just a fetish of one of the writers?

That’s exactly what I was thinking of for the latter. For the former, I was thinking of Sweet Charity from Bob Merrill’s (aka "The guy who wrote that song about the doggie in the window) Take Me Along, or as you probably better know it, The Freakin’ FCC.

Pretty much. You can spot the changes emerging in Season 3, which as also the last season I enjoyed. The seasons since their second cancellation have been abysmal. And year, Stewie is no longer the character he used to be.

In summary, seasons 1 and 2 were classics, 3 was respectable, but the rest are completely forgettable.
