Family Guy 11/4/07

So, does anyone else think that the ST TNG style of the end credits is a clue? Not a bad episode overall, IMHO.

Meg likes hot dogs. A lot.

I’m not sure what it’s a clue to…but…it’s gotta be a dream, right? …right? Or something in the style of a Simpsons Halloween ep.

I forgot to set the DVR. Did Stewie kill his mom?

Yes…but she came back!

I am never eating hot dogs again. shudder

Well, they did a “Next time on Family Guy. . .” bit after the credits and it looks like Lois has got some kind of La Femm Nikita thing going on.

Though I liked the 100th episode itself, did anybody like the 1/2-hour clip show beforehand? I guess McFarlane didn’t want to risk a full clip show, since every “Family Guy” episode has been played at least 100 times by Adult Swim, TBS, and your local syndicator, but I found his preening persona to be somewhat revolting.

I also hope (and suspect) those “real people” he was interviewing about the show were a set-up. If so, it didn’t really come of all that funny; if not, it was also incredibly insulting.

I think they were real people who were selected because they actively don’t like Family Guy. He picked the worst they could find…

The clip show was just OK. For me, it just seems like Seth’s voice is a put on.

I like Family Guy, but I get a really creepy vibe from Seth. He is so smarmy and foul mouthed that I have a feeling I would find it very uncomfortable to talk to him.

I’ve seen Seth on other shows (like the Dinner show that used to be on IFC with that one guy), and unless he’s always “in character”, that’s his real voice.

I thought the clip show was hilarious. I love that Scrubs is apparently the show he hates this season (last season it was Desperate Housewives), and the “I forgot how funny I am” line made me laugh out loud. Oh, and the David Hyde Pierce bit.

If those were real people, I wonder if they were oblivious to the fact they were the butt of his joke? I guess they didn’t even know who Seth was.

Anyway, as far as Stewie Kills Lois, it wasn’t bad. But they couldn’t have let it end with her really dead?

I think they set their record for fastest 80’s reference- Lionel Richie within the first 15 seconds I think. And they referecend something so obscure (I forgot what it was) that I can’t imagine .01 percent of the audience knew what they hell were talking about- Iron Eagle IV is bad enough.

I think they were real, but I wonder if they were told to say that they didn’t like the show. Whatever, the bit wasn’t funny. It would have been a lot more entertaining if McFarlane had talked to fans.

Can you imagine sleeping with him? I would never be able to do it without thinking about Brian the dog.

Nah, it would have been funnier if he’d talked to people who hated the show, but didn’t present it as though they were idiots - paired with his self-congratulatory attitude in the non-interview sections, it would have added some much needed humour. As it was, it just made me wonder if Seth’s Ego Trip was actually supposed to be a joke.

I hope so! If not he’s gotten really full of himself.

I thought it was pretty obviously a joke about how funny he thinks he is. “Sometimes I forget how funny I am” is not a line said straight.

The line about being a Vietnamese immigrant and becoming a caucasian hollywood millionaire was a true story too.

Both Sucked - I don’t think I laughed one time during the 100th - a couple of times during the clip show - but then some of the clips were from the good old days.

It seems they’ve now gone out of their way to be “shocking” - so much so that its lost the entire edge it once had.

(all that being said, I will tune in for part 2, just in case it gets better).
