Family Guy Song question

In the Family Guy named “The Kiss seen round the World”, Meg has a fantasy which is a spoof off of Fast times at Ridgemont High in which Tom Tucker jumps in a swimming pool and climbs out tearing off his shirt. The music in the background seemed familiar and as far as I can tell, the begining lyrics goes something like: “Lifes a sin, live it in stereo”, though a google search does not come up with the lyrics let alone the artist. Anybody have an Idea of what this song is? It is bugging the crap out of me!

It was the same song they played in the actual Fast Times movie, I remember that. I don’t know what that song was called though.

Moving in Stereo by The Cars?

It’s on the soundtrack…

Whew… I am SO glad you didn’t ask if Stewie sings “'effin cry” in the title sequence.

LOL captB- I actually figured out he was saying “laugh and cry.”

Thanks for the info and the links GMR.

They actually re-recorded the “effin cry” portion for some of season 3, though it barely sounded like Stewie.

Truth be told, at times it sounds like either “effing” or “laugh and”, which suggests a change was made at some point.

[sub]effing simulposts…[/sub]

I was always confused over that dilema. From the very beginning it sounded like “laugh and cry” to me, and “effin cry” never occured to me because it doesn’t really make sense in the context of the song.

Though I’ve had one complete stranger to the show watching it on DVD with me ask me if he said “Effin Cry.” It’s not just an urban legend.

The FamilyGuyFiles website says it was “effin’ cry” at first, and was changed later. They actually say at which episode the change was made, though I don’t recall which one it was.

Back in the day, the closed captions said “effin cry” too. That’s how I confirmed that was actually what Stewie was saying.

Seth says on the commentary though that it’s always been “laugh and cry”.

Seth? You quote this Seth person as an argument against Stewie? I would pity you, but it’s probably not worth the effort. Seth will suffer the same fate as the Man in White, and rest assured, you shall not be far down the list.

Closed captions are wrong all the time, though.

Am I the only person who thinks Stewie’s bluegrass number “My big ass baby” is the greatest song in the entire Family Guy series?

I’ve got blistahs on mah fingahs!

Sure, it does. The song is about the loss of “good old-fashioned values” and claims we’re lucky “there’s the Family Guy”. Trouble is, the show has nothing do with gool old-fashioned values, and gets almost all of its humour from violence, sex and crudity, so taking off the sanctimony of the theme song with the baby saying “effing” is perfectly in line with the premise.

Buit as duderdude says, the creator of th eshow, Seth McFarlene says it was always “laugh and cry.” And for someone that loves a good controversy to stop a controversy must mean he’s telling the truth.

Well, considering that at the time of that interview, Fox was threatening to cancel Family Guy (which they ended up doing recently), I can imagine MacFarlane deciding to play it safe.

I’m mildly hoping the show can continue on cable and can go for all-out raunch, though it’ll never be as clever or amusing as The Simpsons.

If he was “playing it safe”, why would he mention it at all?
