"Family Guy - The Quest For Stuff" game

Just some words of wisdom for those who start the quest where you fight King Butt by collecting Jell-O shots. Whatever you do, DON’T use the Airplane Mode trick to quickly collect the right color of shots. If anything, you should use the Airplane Mode trick to ensure you collect the wrong color of shots, as they will become increasingly important. You should try to take the maximum 24 hours to complete each day so you can maximize the off-color shots you collect.

I thought I was being so smart by rushing though days 1 and 2 of the shot collecting, only to find out the 3rd day you have to collect 14 shots. The only way to get 14 shots is to have a bunch of leftovers from days 1 and 2, which I didn’t have many of, because I used the Airplane Mode trick to ensure I got the right color for that day. The only way I can keep the streak going now is to spend clams to rush tasks.

I doubt it was intentional by the programmers but it really was an ingenious way to punish cheaters (like me!).

I’m only on day two of King Butt, and I’m already in danger of not having enough jello shots of the right color. This game is really requiring me to camp out an make sure I run Peter, Cleveland, and Quagmire through their routines as much as possible. I can’t doo anything with Cleveland’s new outfit, and I curse all that time I spend sleeping at night.

OK, i am going to ask…

Can you walk me through this cheating glitch one more time? I have not tried it yet, but since I have just discovered the jello-shot thing and I am woefully behind, I have to do something to catch up.

Now, as I understood the cheat, it was to get things to drop at a faster rate than they would normally, right? So how does the cheat help you with the jello shots, since they are ALWAYS going to be there whenever Peter, Cleveland, or Quagmire’s 4 hour task is finished.

Am I missing something? How would I use the airplane mode trick to collect the wrong color of shots?
Thanks in advance for any help.

So, this thread has been pretty quiet compared to the TSTO thread, but I know a few are still playing it. Has anyone come close to the 50k moons needed to get all the prizes? I just got enough to collect the red pyramid, and that is the last one I will probably get… unless of course a miracle occurs and I somehow get the guy with the machete.

I tried a moon-sarcophagus and got some trash dump. 4k moons for that. And I didn’t even want it. But I figured I’d give it one try.
Does anyone know if this moon currency goes away at the end of this event? Because I will spend the remaining moons I have on something, I guess.

This event has been weird. The strangest thing has been how the mummies have been allocated. First, they came out in packs, then, they came out 2 at a time each minute or so, and now, it is a pack of them again. It seemed that when they came more slowly, at least they were usually worth more moons, but now we are back to 2, 5, 10 or the occasional 20 moons for the girl mummies.

More strange things I’ve noticed.

I have reached level 40 and now I get no movement at all on my XP meter. Not that it really matters, since it doesn’t really matter what level I am on. But why keep giving out XP’s if they mean nothing?

Peter is still on level 17, but every other character that reached the max (which is 15, I believe) still shows they are at the max level.

I have no idea if it is going to work, but I am going to try the cheat the next time Cleveland is ready to give up Jello shots.

Well, I finally got the glitch to work.

However, I screwed up. Since i need 8 red shots, I should collect those first, and get them out of the way, right. I didn’t understand that based on the post by Erdosain, which states to NOT get the needed jello shots first.

But you have to have at least a shot at getting the red shots out of the way before the timer is up. If I gather 8 red shots, I can then collect all the other shots I need of different colors.

Correct me if. I am wrong, but just because I have the 8 red jello shots, it doesn’t mean I have to turn them in to satisfy the King tut requirement until I am ready, yes?

Hell, I don’t know any more. All I know is I have to do my best to gather 3 jello shots every 4 hours until the time runs out. That means I have to get 6 reds out of 12 possible chances (more likely I will only have 9 chances, since I won’t hit the 4 hours exactly when I need to.)

I think I am writing to myself out here!

One more thing… I now have 2 king butts walking around my town. No idea why, but one crashes the game, while the other one seems to work as intended.

I have deleted and reinstalled, with no help.
Also, when I deleted and reinstalled, I almost had a heart attack, as it came back at level 3. I closed it and came back in, and same thing. I thought I was done, but I tapped on Ollie, since his town was ready, and the game asked me if I wanted to use this game or the other game on level 40. I selected the 40, which brought me back to where I was before, still with 2 king butts.

Anyone else having these issues?

Better yet, anyone still playing this game?

I’m unhappy with the game. I spent idols on the booty box and got two of the wheelchair parks. Sigh. It’s just such a mess. I don’t even know if I’m doing things right.

I’m still playing ,but I’m sure I’m not doing the King Butt strategy right having put no thought into it. Maybe building up jello shots before clicking on his chair is better?
I might get the friendly monkey prize, but no way am I getting the 100k prize.

I had some moderate success with the booty box. I got a lot of useless items, but also 7k and 5k butt idol prizes.

Anyone else having problems with this game crashing alot?

Yes. Lately, crashes have been almost every time I log in.

A lot of my crashes occur when I accidentally touch the wrong king butt.

I still have two of them zipping around the town.

I also don’t understand this king butt game. What is the multiplier for? That 150 butts that come with getting the right amount of jello shots in a 24 hour period?

This part of the game has been so unclear to me. The place where his throne is sitting was available for three days before I discovered I had to tap the spot. I thought I had to figure out how to build the thing… No idea I just had to tap the spot. That shot 2-3 days of this stupid jello shot chasing game.

I will get the guy with the sword if I luck out. But there is no way I will get the last two unless I somehow get the multipliers and the butts gained from that take me over the top. I don’t see it happening.

This hasn’t been a bad event, but it isn’t great either. The crap I’ve added to my town is just that… Crap. Having two pyramids in the town, along with a junk yard I didn’t want?

And I still can’t find channel 5.

I guess it’s time to start buying stuff with my idols before this is over. I suppose I can’t pass up the evil monkey. Does anyone have the lotus pond or the oasis?

I bought a booty box and got ANOTHER wheelchair park. Thankfully the game had crashed during one of my boxes so I only have two.

I was ok with this update until the king booty showed up and now I hate it more than tsto easter 2014

Yeah, the King Booty thing is just odd. Plus, unless you are willing to use the cheat for getting the right color jello shot, you are in deep crap for making the number needed.

I tried the cheat, but it took so long for me to get one shot to flip to the right color, it just was ridiculous. I can see how this thing would save time if you were in need of a singular item, but it isn’t really viable for the jello shots.

At least not for me. Needing a red shot and getting a blue one, then trying again and getting a blue or purple one over and over was beyond frustrating, and pointless. Because I will never hit the 100,000 butts needed for the King Butt anyway.

And was the Egyptian theme actually in an episode of Family guy?

I a, also planning on spending all the butt currency. I did purchase the monkey. I like it as far as decorations go, but meh.

The comments to this post on this fan site describes a glitch that apparently floods one with Jelly-Yo shots, which are then translatable into a buttload (ahem) of idols.

I’m not going to try it. I might be willing to accept a bit of incremental help forward here and there, but this seems to be describing a full-on windfall.

Can you link to the exact page/article? Or better yet, just tell us what the glitch is? I read that whole page and didn’t see anything about a jello shot glitch.

Since the game ends today, I am not going to be able to use it anyway, bit I am always interested in glitches.

I read through that site and the crap people have collected is strange. One guy has something like 20 helicopters and planes, and 10 lincoln statues. WTF for?

I saw one guy’s town that is just amazing. He is either paying tiny Co. A fortune, or he is using glitches and cheats to accumulate everything and then some. One of these days, I am going To add up all the premium items in his town and see how many clams they are worth. It has to be thousands.

No one, from what I’ve been able to tell, completed this event or got close to it without glitching, cheating, or using clams.

Just like TSTO Easter. It wasn’t just a run of bad luck (like some people and the TSTO wheels), but truly, mathematically impossible. And that’s before you get into constant game crashes.

Well, it’s all over. And it’s a little weird how everybody is hating on the event.

Look at it this way. Let’s say an alternate universe event happened, identical to our universe’s event in every way, except that the highest tier prize on the pyramid only cost 50k idols, and it wasn’t king butt - instead king butt was for sale as a premium character for 300 clams.

In effect, these two events work out the same. Either way, free players only climb as high as 50k idols on the pyramid prizes, and if you want king butt you gotta shell out clams. But I think the alternative universe event would have made us all a lot happier. It would have given the sense that the event was primarily geared towards free players, even though premium players get some cool extras like the king. In the alternate universe, would anyone be complaining that they couldn’t get king butt? I doubt it. He’s not even a real family guy character! I mean, he’s kinda cool, and I’d grab him if he was there for the taking, but if you’re going to tell me he’s a premium character then that’s ok. TSTO has gotten me used to events coming with premium only minor characters.

So far all the complaints about this event, I think the only thing they really did wrong was presentation. The way they presented the event, we all feel like we were deprived of the big prize. We all feel like we didn’t get to complete it. The reality is that all the real prizes - Cleveland, the two new costumes, a bunch of buildings and decorations, and 20+ clams - were available to everyone and relatively easy to earn. It’s too bad that instead of making us feel like those were the prizes, they instead dangled this carrot in our faces by pretending king butt could be gettable for free when in reality he was a premium character. If not for that, I think we’d be calling this event a winner.

I got to about 75k by playing quite a bit and then shamelessly glitched my way past 100k to get king butt.
The glitch was to challenge King Butt (making him do the thing where he crawls inside the throne), then hard-closing the game. You then waited a minute before restarting the game. Enough time where he would be out of the throne again.

I didn’t pay too much attention to what happened at that point, but you seemed to gain jelly shots instead of losing and could keep repeating.

The guy with 20 helicopters, 10 lincoln statues, etc, probably got a ton of butt idols by glitching and then getting the ‘booty box’ from the sore for 4000 idols that gave you a random prize. My booty box seemed to love giving me skateboard parks.

Ah. Thanks. i missed that glitch.

I don’t miss not having King Butt. He isn’t a character I recognized from the show, and I found the entire Egypt/pyramid/mummy-themed game strange. This was in stark contrast to the stonecutter’s event on TSTO, which was directly related to a popular episode.

I really mis-played the last week or so of this event. I didn’t know about the “event within the event” with King Butt, so. I started late. I then wasted even more time not knowing how to make the throne appear. Once it appeared, I had already tasked Peter, Quagmire and Cleveland for 12-24 hours, delaying the collection of shots for another day. Once I started, I missed the first target… and I never got on track.

I also didn’t realize until after the event was over that each character gave out only 1 of 2 possible shots. That info would have come in very handy. But not knowing Cleveland would NEVER give a red shot was a real time waster for me.

Finally, I realized about a week ago that the butt currency would probably go away with the event, so i tried to spend it… But there wasn’t really anything I wanted in my town. I tried an Esophagus, and received an open trash dump.:dubious:, yet another POS “decoration” that I didn’t want in my town, so. I forgot about the esophagus as an option at the end of the game. So instead of using them to see if I could get a plane or a boat or a wheel chair park (none of which I am really attached to), i spent 45k butts on crap like a lotus flower pond, a bunch of flowers and a few other goofy things. None of which I particularly wanted or needed.

Oh well. I guess I have learned a few things to watch out for the next event, whenever that is.

I also think I need to do some more research on the internet. This thread has been my only connection to strategy discussions, and posting to this thread isn’t exactly robust. So, I think if I want more out of this game, I need to dedicate a bit more time to it.

The complaints I had on this event were few:

  1. directions were not often clear to me, and I felt like I was often doing something wrong.

  2. the sarcophagus things seemed a bit like the TSTO wheel to me, which is why I abandoned it after one try.

  3. I absolutely LOATHED the running mummies cluttering up my town.

  4. as mentioned, King Butt was poorly explained/executed from my POV.

  5. the jello shot collection was ridiculous. Without spending money, or setting your alarm for every 4 hours, you were never going to meet the quotas. Even the, I think you would still have to use the cheats/hacks to get enough of the right colors…

There is absolutely nothing going on in my town right now. No task list, no costumes or character being unlocked…
