I wanted to start a new thread for FF 2010 because the other thread seems to be focused on just the SMDB leagues, not discussion in general.
I’ve been doing mocks at Fantasy football calculator.com, and so far my 2010 strategy is something like this:
-
The position tiers this year are very, very small. I would say there are 3-4 top RB’s, 2-4 top WR’s, and 5-6 top QB’s, which means, potentially, all the top tier players could be gone by the beginning of the 2nd round, and just about the only way to get 2 top tier players in any position would be a mistake by another player, RB/QB if you have an early position, or WR/WR in a late position. I rarely go RB/RB but this year it seems impossible. Rounds 4-8 seems to be the key this year: do you think you can find good-great WR’s or RB’s in those rounds? Personally, I always find good RB’s in that range (and they usually end up starting anyway because of injuries) but not many good WR’s (I’m looking at you, Stallworth.)
-
So far, everybody this year is drafting a backup QB by the 9-10th round. Would you take one of the QB’s on new teams (e.g. McNabb) as this backup? Imho, I would rather take a mediocre QB like Vince Young than a good qb in a new system. I think it’s a gamble.

What do you think are the top DEF’s? I checked the Jets stats from last year, and they don’t have many sacks/ints/scores, which would be relevant for fantasy scoring. The only outstanding stat I see is passes defended, but that doesn’t mean a higher FF score. Minnesota, Baltimore, Green Bay, and the Steelers would be much higher, imho. I love Revis to death, but he doesn’t get that many int’s.
