Fantasy Football general discussion

Truth is, it doesn’t matter anyway since Eli is shitting the bed today.

I have absolutely no doubt that Eli will throw 2 TD passes in the fourth quarter.

I come to you, oh great Gronk, in my time of need…

As long as there are no stat corrections, I beat Wilson/Fourth and Nineteen by a score of 101.90 to 101.87 to advance to the championship game in the SDMB He Hate Me league.

Yes, that’s 0.03 points. One less passing yard (or one kneel down) by Philip Rivers or one more by Cam Newton and he would have won.

So I was in the semi-finals in the SDMB auction, big, and dynasty leagues and won in all of them. So three championship games.

I also would’ve crushed in the semi-finals in the all-pro league if I had managed to get the first round bye - I scored 50 points more than anyone else.

I got crushed. Most of my top guys had off weeks. Bad timing.

Told ya so.

In the championship game for my work league, I can start 2 RB and one flex. Pick 3 of 4 and I need maximum points from the RB and flex spots since my receivers suck. It is a money league, winner take all.

Reggie Bush, Steven Jackson, Ray Rice, Roy Helu.

Reggie Bush has been on fire the last couple of weeks, and Yahoo rates his matchup @ NE 4 out of 5 stars, so I’d start him in one of your spots.

Right now I’m thinking Bush and Rice. I’m torn between Jackson who is playing the Steelers, but he is just about all the Rams have on offense and Helu, who has been limited in practice, but is up against the Vikings.

I’m behind the 8 ball already, since I only got 5 points from the Texans D on Thursday.

Well Ray Rice isn’t an option, so it’s really 2 out of Bush/Jackson/Helu. It helps to list the matchup - Jackson is up against Pittsburgh this week and isn’t likely to have a good day. Rice/Bush/Helu, assuming Helu is starting/healthy. Then again, you might get Shanahanned with Helu.

I have to pick 2 out of Chris Johnson (jax), Shonn Grenne (nyg), and Darren Sproles . This is trickier than it sounds because every week one of them does something massively unexpected, either 0 or 20+ points.

Greene had 2 24+ point weeks but then did nothing against a vulnerable Philly D. Johnson only managed 10 points against Indy’s defense, although to be fair they did seem to play abnormally well. But still, if Chris Johnson can’t score on Indy, it’s hard to like him. But then every time I bench him he has a 20+ game. Sproles is very reliably putting up 12-16 point games all season… except the time he faced Atlanta earlier, where he put up less than 1.

I’d still start Sproles. He’s going to get his touches, barring injury. Guy is a huge chunk of the Saints playbook, returns kicks and punts, catches passes, and runs. Also, I think Ingram is going to be out again this week with turf toe.

Helu is out so that decision is easy.

Which kicker to use: Janikowski against the Chiefs or Kassay against the Falcons?

Scoring is:

Each PAT Made (PAT) 1 Each PAT Missed (PATM) -1
FG Made (0-39 yards) (FG0) 3 FG Made (40-49 yards) (FG40) 4
FG Made (50+ yards) (FG50) 5 FG Missed (0-39 yards) (FGM0)-3

Kasay. Dome game it’s going to have a lot of scoring.

Stattracker going nuts for anyone else?

Just to vent for one second. I’m in the playoffs in my money league. I lost in the first round last week (thanks to a career game by Brent Fucking Celek, but that’s another rant), so I was battling in the consolation round for 3rd place, which is still a good chunk of change. My opponent has a sub-average game, with Tom Brady scoring huge, but with no one in the rest of his crew scoring more than 8 points. Easily beatable.

I go with my usual starting lineup, and get some average points from MJD, Stevie Johnson, and others, and even a nice surprise TD from Ed Dickson.

I also started LaGarette Blount and Tony Romo. For those of you who don’t know, Blount was benched after one carry for a fumble that wasn’t his fault. He got me 1.1 points, thanks to 2 carries for 11 yards. Tony Romo gets me nothing, because he hurts his hand at the beginning of the first quarter without completing a single pass. My QB and flex play guys get me a total of 1.1 points, leading to a loss in the playoffs. Had either or both of them scored their average, I would have won. Had I had my backup QB (Matt Moore), I would have won easily. Had I had my backup flex guy (Kevin Smith), I would have won easily. Instead, I had a guy who gets hurt without scoring a point, and one who was benched by an idiot coach.

Fuck fantasy football. Fuck it hard with rusty barbed wire.

Them’s the breaks. I missed the playoffs in my league because I started Sanchez as my #2 QB in the final week of the regular season instead of Hasselbeck, who I’d played the week before, and he did virtually nothing. Had I played Hasselbeck, who put up decent numbers that week, not only would I have made the playoffs, I’d likely be playing for the league championship this weekend. Instead, I need heroics from Brees, Graham, Saints D and Michael Turner tomorrow night to salvage 5th place.

Barring a 20 point game by Mason Crosby, I won the He Hate Me for the first time. I also probably got relegated from the Super league.

I have leads in all 3 SDMB FF championships I’m in. But they’re all coming down to the MNF game.

In the auction league, I have a 3 point lead, with Lance Moore and Darren Sproles against Michael Turner.

In the big league, I have a 17 point lead and Colston against Turner and Kasay.

In the dynasty league I have a 21 point lead and Jimmy Graham still playing. Up against Colston and Kasay.

So I need bad games out of Turner and Kasay, good games out of Sproles, and Graham, and… I’m conflicted on Colston, since I have him in one league and he’s against me in another. Him having a solid 10 point day would probably be ideal for me. That’s the sort of situation that sucks when playing in multiple leagues.

So I imagine this is the most eventful single football game in fantasy football I’ve ever had.

Nailed it.
