Fantasy Football general discussion

Gates was in PPR in… 2004, maybe? Gronk doesn’t get any credit because he didn’t do anything between the 20s last year. Hernandez got the yardage, Gronkowski got the scores. I don’t think he can produce like this next year, but I’ve been wrong before.

Gronk is now has a 15 point lead over the #2 scoring WR/TE. To think I was trying to sell him pretty hard in the dynasty league just because I was loaded at the position.

So I finished my regular season 10 - 4, tied for top seed in the 2-round playoffs. This week four of my WR are ranked in ESPN’s top 8. I can only play three of Hakeem Nicks, V. Cruz, Colston and Steve Smith (the one that’s still good.)

Since Eli is my QB, I have been playing both Cruz and Nicks and it’s been working well. Colston went off Sunday and they play the porous Viking secondary this week, but NO has so many weapons you never know who’ll get the ball. Smith has come back down to Earth recently but is still Cam’s #1 target.

Thoughts?

Steve Smith is the odd man out.

I’d bench Colston. It is unlikely that he’s going to have a second consecutive big week when the Saints are known to spread the ball around so much.

I have been losing running backs left and right in one of my leagues so I am stuck playing one of these scrubs in the semifinals. I’m leaning towards Hillis or Hunter but any advice would be appreciated.

Hillis @ Ari
Gerhart vs NO
Ingram @ Min
Hunter vs Pit
Ricky Williams @ SD
Kuhn @ KC

Ugh. The Steelers D is damn good against the run, so I’d worry about Hunter. Williams doesn’t get enough touches, and Kuhn is little more than a TD vulture, and he only has 4 so far this year. Gerhart’s value takes a hit if Peterson comes back (why, when they’re so bad they’d rush him back is beyond me, but a lot of what Frazier does is beyond me), Ingram’s injury and splitting carries is a problem, and Hillis hasn’t done much since returning.

I’d likely go with Hillis, just because he’s likely to get the most touches against a team that isn’t too impressive against the run. If Peterson is out, I’d likely take Gerhart, but if he’s in, I think Hillis is the guy.

I’m leaning towards starting Colston. I watch every Panthers game, and as much as I appreciate Smitty, the team really has been struggling to get him a lot of grabs lately. Olsen and Shockey get a lot of looks, and LaFell has been coming on. Cam gets to run in a lot of TDs and he still has Williams and Stewart (if this team had any D and Special Teams they’d be in the playoffs.)

Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll roll with Hillis barring any news about reduced touches.

That’s pretty much my situation. I had McFadden, Forte, Hightower and DeMarco Murray. In the playoffs with nary a chance of winning.

I’ve got CJ Spiller in one spot and get to choose between Tomlinson, Daniel Thomas, Chris Ivory, John Kuhn and Kahlil Bell in the other. Woo.

Bell isn’t a bad play after the Barber meltdown last week.

Seconded. Does Colston ever have two big weeks in a row?

You only have to go back to Weeks 6 and 7 of this season- 7/118/1 and 7/98/2. Hell, he has 24 catches for ~350 yards over the past 4 games. If anything, he’s an especially good option this week because Graham is banged up.

Is the word out of Chicago that he’ll get more carries and Barber’s in the doghouse? It doesn’t help that Seattle has a tough run D.

No, but that’s little surprise, Lovie never says anything about anything. Just an educated guess, Bell looked good and more dynamic than Barber last week even though Barber was pretty potent himself. Bell is better in the passing game than Barber, and Lovie/Martz has expressed his displeasure with guys via playing time often before. Seattles D is good, but so was the Broncos and the Bears ran the ball in spite of it to protect Hanie.

And Smith scores a few minutes into the game… from my bench.

Brees has 3 TDS today. Graham, Moore and Sproles.

Four. Gilmore, whoever that is.

Journeyman blocking tight end.

  1. Moore with another. :smack:
