Fantasy Football Sit/Start Thread, 2014

I’d probably go Reed until Donnell demonstrates he’s back.

I’m just curious how many people had Joe Flacco on their bench today. Now there’s a fantasy performance for you.

Just a followup to this, I actually started the Steelers but it didn’t much matter. I didn’t even list my fourth option, which was Jets DEF against Denver. Here’s how they did:

5.00 Giants
2.00 Jets
-1.00 Steelers
-6.00 Bills

I was largely screwed mo matter what, but I was surprised that the two NY teams ended up faring the best. I ended up losing my matchup by around 50 points, so meh.

Welker, Ridley and Asiata were all terrible, but at least I had Forsett in there. Planning to pick up McKinnon and Vereen asap

Asiata lost his job, so you can safely drop him. I think Welker is officially Manning’s 4th or 5th target at this point.

Vereen hasn’t been seeing much play either. I don’t really want to own a NE RB at this point.

PPR in a flex position:
Chris Johnson @NE this Thursday
Jermaine Kearse @StL

Since I’m playing the highest-scoring team in the league this week and I’m 14th of 16, I’m actually thinking of starting Kearse since he might actually score instead of Johnson’s 7 runs for 25 yards and a couple of receptions. Also, if A.J. Green somehow manages to recover enough to play*, I could start Green over Kearse.

Am I insane?

*Ian Rapoport said Green would be out, but Marvin Lewis still says Green’s day-to-day.

I agree if you need big points you should roll the dice on Kearse, or Green if he is healthy (but I doubt he will be)

I was able to snag both McKinnon and Vereen. Vereen hasn’t been getting much action lately, but Ridley is hurt so he should get a lot more touches now. The NE RB situation is very fluid but they are actually more predictable this year than in the past. It has paid off tremendously to use Ridley some of these past weeks, when the matchup is good.

Defense: Cleveland @Jax, or Arizona @Oak?

Tom Brady or Andy Dalton? I’m worried that Brady might sit the 2nd half if the Pats get up to a good lead. I’m probably more worried about the bad Andy Dalton showing up.

Brady. The Jets pass defense isn’t as bad as the numbers would suggest since they’ve had a ridiculously tough schedule to start the season (Carr, Rodgers, Cutler, Stafford, Rivers, P. Manning), but they haven’t really come close to stopping any of those last five guys, so just take the points. If Brady’s sitting late in the game, odds are very good that it’s because he’s already thrown3 TDs.

Arizona. Jax is a somewhat better matchup, but Arizona has been one the best defenses in the league so far (real world, not fantasy), while Cleveland has been toward the bottom. There’s a bigger difference there.

QB
Matt Ryan (@Bal)
Tony Romo (NYG)
Cam Newton (@GB)

Flex spots (pick any two, including no more than 1 RB)
Michael Crabtree (@Den)
Larry Fitzgerald (@Oak)
DeAndre Hopkins (@Pit)
Zac Stacy (Sea) [questionable]
Reggie Bush (NO)
Sammy Watkins (Min)
Jonathan Stewart (@GB) [questionable]

Defense
Baltimore (Atl)
Carolina (@GB)

I would go with:
Cam Newton (although Romo is pretty much a coin flip)
Michael Crabtree
Larry Fitzgerald
Baltimore D (GB could explode at home, ATL on the road less likely)

Two flex slots. 1 WR/TE, one WR/RB.

Jordan Cameron vs Oak
Trent Richardson @ Pit
Andre Holmes @ Cle
Andrew Hawkins vs Oak
Cordarelle Patterson @ TB
Bobby Rainey vs Min
Allen Robinson vs Mia
Denard Robinson vs Mia
Bryce Brown @ NYJ

Is this the waiver wire? I think Cameron and D robinson.

No, it’s my bench in a deep dynasty league. My flex decisions have been tough this year.

Ronnie Hillman @ Patriots
Ingram @ Carolina

Apparently Hillman is questionable after hurting his shoulder on Tuesday, and Ingram’s playing in the Thursday game so I can’t wait for more info on Hillman’s status. I guess Ingram is the safer play as I don’t have anyone else to plug in if I skip Ingram and then Hillman doesn’t play.

3 WR slots. Demaryius Thomas is obviously in, but for the other two slots I’ve god Brandon Marshall, Mike Wallace, Odell Beckham, and DeAndre Hopkins. Marshall and Wallace have been my base studs, and have been frankly underwhelming. Some good games from each, but very hit or miss. Both of their QBs look like shit recently. Am I crazy to want to start both Beckham and Hopkins over them?

Marshall’s kinda banged up - he’ll likely play, but it’s something to be aware of.

Probably not. Though I’d at least consider Wallace. Alshon Jeffery has been stealing catches from Marshall all year and Beckham is definitely number one on the Giants now. So a Beckham/Hopkins combo is probably smart.
