Anyone see this? It’s a standalone DCL of Far Cry 3 on Steam for fifteen bucks.
You know how Sega Genesis games would have awesome box art that the game never lived up to? This game is the game those games should have been. It’s a fever dream dreamed by a 13 year old in study hall in 1989 when he decided to come up with the best movie ever. Cyborgs! Explosions! Swearing! Neon! That cool gun from Robocop! Neon Dinosaurs that shoot eye lasers! Boobs! Tigers! Ancient artifacts of untold power! Training Montage! Zombies!
Seen it, played it. It’s as awesome as the trailer makes it out to be, and just long enough that the joke doesn’t wear out.
It truly is a gem. It’s like the Far Cry 3 programmers got drunkenly nostalgic one night, brainstormed the most ridiculously over the top ideas in between doing humongous lines of the good '80s coke, then made it all happen before sunrise because why the fuck not ?!
I made a thread about it before it came out over here: FarCry 3: Blood Dragon - The Game Room - Straight Dope Message Board
I’ve been playing it a bit in-between other games, and I love it.
Pretty fantastic. My only complaint is that the last act is messy – awesome cutscenes, but not enough interaction. The last thirty minutes or so practically plays itself.
