It’s El Jefe’s Birthday Number 65. I’m not in the orifice today, so I’m joining the Zoo Meeting. I’ve been waiting for the host to start the meeting for over 10 minutes. They seem to be running late. I hope I didn’t put on this aloha shirt for nothing!
The rabbit has been pulling at the carpet again, so he’s been remanded to Bunny Jail. I did give him a head of broccoli, which should solve the chewing problem for a couple of days.
Magic what kind of bunny? Pics?
Brown mini lop. His name is Buttercup. His parents’ owners mis-sexed him. Seeing as how they originally thought they had two male rabbits, we’ve decided they are officially bad at sexing rabbits.
Here’s a photo from the Pet Pictures thread.
For some reason I read this as “the rabbi” and was wondering why your holy man was pulling at your carpet and eating your broccoli.
The day is still sunny and lovely. No sparkly vampires yet.
Silly Rabbi, kicks are for Trids!
I slept late, as I was awoke during the night aching all over, probably from the 8-mile urban hike yesterday. (Also the lupus, but I don’t want to give it credit.) Anyway, I was awake until 4 and slept until 10. Yikes.
As Taters said, it’s been screwy here. It’s too vague to be much help, but here’s the Washington State timeline. The only change they’ve made is to replace months with seasons, as we were so far behind schedule:
Washington Vaccination timeline.pdf (1.0 MB)
You can see it says people with two or more comorbidities are on there, but not people with one. The Phase Finder has a list of conditions that identifies people at highest risk and another that identifies people at increased risk, but neither is complete, and it’s unclear what tier they’re in, even to the hotline reps.
flyboy, a few years ago, my sister’s elderly cat had something that sounded like what Tonka has/had, and the blindness was temporary. Hopefully that’s the case with Tonka.
Magic, that’s one adorable bunny! Bunny jail with broccoli sounds like the rabbit equivalent of the Mayberry jail with Aunt Bea bringing in fried chicken and peach pie for the inmate (usually Otis).
nettie, that sounds like an aggravating work situation that leaves you in a bad spot. Hope it gets resolved soon.
nut, a red rainbow! How lovely! (I’m channeling Lili Von Shtupp.)
Great day for a walk between rain squalls! Can’t believe that there are already things flowering.
Got ambitious and decided to make brioche buns. They are the best for burgers and for breakfast sandwiches. This guy’s video a good guide:
I also decided to treat myself and ordered an electric proofing box that is collapsible. It can also double as a slow-cooker, apparently, but I’m getting it for the bread.
Momentous day today: DW got a totally unexpected cheque from HMRC. Only £30 but every little helps. We have been in a long-running dispute with them as they keep asking her to pay money she doesn’t owe. I suspect that this payment is not actually related to that but they are sending the explanation in a separate letter.
We had a phone call from DD to say that her baby, due in two weeks, has been successfully turned round by the midwife. She was almost resigned to a breech birth so much relief.
2bob, that’s great news on Daughter. And for those of us who are Americans, HMRC = IRS. Glad you got something out of them…
Magic nancy, cute floppy-eared bunny. Even if he is in Bunny jail.
Nut, enjoy the walk, wherever it takes you.
flyboy, will also cross appropriate appendages for Tonka.
FCM, One ton down, 15 to go… (for you young’uns, google Tennessee Ernie Ford)
Sunny, glad you got help with the cat maintenance. And while FCM has lost more weight, 41 lbs. is not bad at all.
Shopping was done this morning and nappage was accomplished this afternoon. A couple of bills to pay tomorrow, but 75% chance of rain so another day in the house.
On the COVID front, supposedly they’ll start taking folks in my group (64-75) around Monday, but there are only two centers that are giving the shots and they are both walk-ins, (no appointments), so we’ll see.
And if anyone is around Topeka area, my nephew’s young (about 9 months) bloodhound escaped; so if you see a 60-lb puppy gamboling about, please let me know and I’ll get the word to him…
Take care all.
Howdy Y’all! We managed to get our respective stuff done, achieve nappage, cook and eat sup, and clean up afterwards. We’re not used to such a busy pace! We are old and delicate after all! OYKW wants to go to the hog trough Golden Corral tomorrow, so we shall. He also impulse bought one of those Chef Boyardee pizza kits today. He said he had a flashback to his childhood and wanted one. I asked him why the childhood flashback did not include thinkin’ “YUCK!” and leavin’ it on the shelf. Sigh. So I guess we shall attempt to make the dang thing one day soon.
Die I’ve made cheese thangs with both self-risin’ and plain ol’ flour. Not much of a difference to me, but usually I use self-risin’ cause that’s what I mostly have on hand. Addin’ bakin’ soda and salt to all purpose flour makes it self-risin’, kinda sorta. I think you’re supposed to sift it or mix it really good however.
OK, I feel the need for some Netflix.
Laterz!
Sounds like fun! But I do have to say up front that it took some planning and prep work to get everything to start flowing in the right direction. Cafe Society, or is MPSIMS the correct forum for this conversation?
Thanks for the welcome, everyone! As long as the hazing doesn’t involve snakes, I’m good.
Heaved bags, bought some new work gloves, napped. Having a negroni, and watching Moonshiners.
: nods at screen :
You’re hired. Go unload the 53’ in Door 8.
Tell 'em to try some Barry White.
But cute bunny.
shoe, IIRC, the Cajun rice and green beans were on the list.
nettie, your supe is an hourly?
I’m thinking psych shirt for our newest mumper jungian_camisole
magic nancy, we have Bojangles around here. I’m thinking there’s one on Bell Road and I know that there are stores in Lebanon, Lavergne and Smyrna. Buttercup is a very nice looking bunny.
Yay for Tonka’s improvemt!
I’m glad that they got your grandkiddo turned around 2_bob.
metal mouse, it’s likely that your niece’s dog is following his hound doggy nose. Fred the bassett hound used to do that. I hope he’s found soon.
I got a nice package from Sis in the mail today. She sent ~40 masks, two toys for Nelson made from recycled blue jeans, some home grown bay leaves and some nice measuring spoons slim enough to fit into spice jars. It was like Christmas! We talked for about an hour on the phone.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
This earned a chuckle, and I didn’t need the spoiler, of course. ![]()
And doggio - shall I tell you what to do with that 53’ at door 8?? I expect you know… ![]()
Just got the RoxStar settled in bed, but I had to steal the night light from the hallway and put it in her room. I just hope she sleeps thru the night. I understand at home she often crawls into bed with her parents in the wee small hours.
FCD thinks he’s got his folks all set for their shots but he’s not confident that they’ll get there, even after today’s dry run. I’m selfishly glad that I don’t have to deal with this sort of thing with my mom. I’ve noticed of late she seems accepting of her limits, and it helps that my sister lives with her and my other sibs are close by to her. I’m the outlyer…
Now that it’s quiet, I’m going to crochet a bit before crawling under the covers. I’s tahred!!
Oh, yeah, and I’m sure I forgot, but welcome Magic Nancy and As Yet Unnicknamed Camisol! I’m aghast that no one mentioned the mandatory MMP rule that everyone has to send fine chocolates to me. Then again, no one ever has, which is probably why I’ve been able to shed some tonnage. Anyway, nighty-night!!
AYE!!!
Irk continues to be irksome. MUST find another job. DH insisted we had to buy a shredder that came through the thrift store he’s currently working at. He WILL be helping with backed-up shredding. I’ve got enough to do.
“Psycho Cami”
“Nameless Cami”
So the snow is mid thigh on me, which means chin high for the pup. I fought the way out to clear the snow from the satellite dish. Question is, should I clear the hund some space?
So glad to hear. Midwives are da best! Mazel tov to you and your expanding family!
Here it is. ol’ swampy bear is right~whisk it really well with a fork (the flour, salt and baking powder). Sifting is a big pain in the rear and that is what you’re trying to avoid).
