I adore this look - I have the right body for it too.
I particularly like the little style of cap the gal on the left is wearing. With my new teeny tiny hair I could probably get away with that as well.

Oh yes to hat’s with veils! I love it in the old black and white movies when you see this little wisp of smoke coming out of a woman’s veil. Then she tilts her head up ever so slightly and you see her eyes glistening mysteriously…wow. You could pass out from how cool that is.
It may sound a bit prissy, but I would like gloves to come back in style for women. Women always look divine in gloves.
And I also like that 40s hair style that Gwen Stephani wears! I don’t know what it’s called either.
Top Hats with walking sticks.
Otto said, "I’m in total agreement about hats with veils. "
Ditto. My niece wore one to my sister-in-law’s funeral. It looked smashing. I don’t see much veil action other than that. But I love 'em.
. . . all you gals wishing for the return of cloche hats do realize that unless you have a Clara Bow heart-shaped face, they make you look like Mr. Ed?
The mall where I work REEKS of mallgoth/mallpunk due to not only the Hot Topic but the other dept stores’ junior/young miss fashion depts following the “I’m with Avril” trend.

I believe the style you are referring to is simply called a roll. Worn with a snood, it looks really cool.
So lovely, in fact, that I just ordered one … the prices were very nice too.
Another vote for hats. Although the big problem with hats is that the rest of your outfit has to be classy to match. Wide-brimmed sexy hat atop t-shirt and jeans just doesn’t seem to go.
Another for men’s hats.
Forget Oswald. I’m convinced that JFK was knocked off by a militant splinter faction of the Milliners & Haberdashers Association.
Oh…and hand-painted ties.
Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, velour shirts for men were a big thing. I miss them. I still have my first one. :::sniff:::
I like European-Style T-shirts. The necks are a bit more “open” although not as wide as what used to be called “boat-neck”, and their sleeves hug the upper arm, rather than flopping around loosely. I have wide and muscular shoulders and those t-shirts flatter that part of my bod.

I’m not sure if it counts as “fashion,” but I long for opportunities to dress up more. My office has gone casual dress, so I’m really longing for a chance to spiff up and dress to the nines! Sure, I like to be comfortable, but I love the really glamorous clothes I see people wearing to go out in old movies.
Speaking of old movies, I’m not sure why, but the fashions of the 1940’s seem like the most flattering things I can imagine. The shape of the dresses and the full pants really flatter the female form. The shoulder pads of that era nicely balance the hips and empahsize the waist without that 1980’s linebacker extreme. Also, the hairstyles and lip stick really work with womens faces. But the best are the stockings with seams down the back! I think they are too sexy for words–but not something I’d dare wear today.
Jodhpurs. I look like a god in jodhpurs.
Just to jump in with Maddy- it’s a “proven fact” that dress-down Friday reduces productivity. I firmly believe that, when you’re dressed a certain way, it shapes your attitude and therefore your actions.
When I’m dressed up, I feel more confident and act accordingly. There’s little opportunity to do that, even here in NYC. Except at Swing 46. God bless Swing 46.

I’d DIE to be able to wear the corset, bum roll, pocket, underskirt, overdress, and cloak of the late 17- early 1800s.
::sigh::
Flock of Seagulls hair. Got in himmel, yes! I am so going to single-handedly bring back the 80s come fall.
I yearn for women to bring back long-sleeved leotards as everyday outerwear. The one reason I miss the 1970s—but a major reason. What a look: sleek, simple, elegant lines. Pure womanhood. <sigh>
You sound like every high school principal that I ever worked with! And I still feel more confident in boots and jeans!
Someone mentioned inheriting her grandmother’s corset. So did I! But the last time that I could fit into it was as a child. I use it for decoration on one of my closet doors.
My fashion preferences change with my moods. I too love veiled hats. But they looked horrid with my cat’s eye glasses frames.
I love anything that reminds me of Audrey Hepburn – but I look awful in everything but the sunglasses.
I love hats so much that sometimes wear one while sitting at the computer. There are some great hats available on line. Just do a search on the features you like.
One of my favorite hats was the brown felt one in Crossing Delancey. I’ve looked for that ever since.
At the moment I have a bob and wear cloches but I may breakout into Western boots or a black lace mantilla at any moment. I guess it’s a good thing that I stay in a lot!
