Favicons and IE 7

Since The Zot disabled search, I have no way of knowing if this has been asked and answered (or, if I do, I don’t know about it, so lighten up):

Why don’t favicons work with Internet Explorer 7? Is it the same old story with the temporary files folder? Or am I doing something wrong? I’m not just talking about the favicons on the favorites menu (sometimes those work and sometimes they don’t, mostly they don’t), but the favicons I can get on the Google search results page in Firefox (with the help of the add-on)…

Ok, I’m an idiot, but I think the favicons on the search results page are the greatest help in avoiding web publishers I detest (almost anything with that orange BLOGGER B can be avoided like the plague), etc.

IE7 is much much faster than Firefox, but Microsoft keeps missing these gigantic boats they could use to make it a truly exceptional piece of software instead of crap.

IE has, for some reason I don’t understand, limited memory space assigned to favicons. Once it has filled that memory, any future favicons either don’t work, or push older ones out. I am not sure if anyone has figured out a fix for this inane behaviour.

Windows has a similar memory limitation on the ways it sets out the Windows Explorer folder view. Complete unfathomable nonsense.

Couldn’t say as I don’t use IE but the problem has been addressed here.
May just give you the answer until someone who knows what they are takling about shows up.
