I’m with Gaudere. I love a good margarita but can’t stand all those frozen fruity flavors. You just get way too much water when the ice melts.
I do have a good recipe for a plain old frozen margartia though.
24 oz. Cuervo Gold.
16 oz. Rose’s Lime Juice.
8 oz. Triple Sec.
2 oz. Sour Mix.
Squeeze in the juice of 4 fresh limes.
Shake well and throw the whole mess in a very cold freezer for at least 24 hours.
This lets the flavors mellow and mingle. If your freezer is cold enough you’ll get a nice slushy margarita without all that ice. And no blender required.
The bar where I worked once paid me a lot of money to develop that recipe; they just don’t know it.
You’re right about the rusty nail, too. I find it to be an excellent winter drink.
