(“What’s that say? I CAN’T READ!”)
You’d like our house, then. My boyfriend and I routinely call each other doodie heads. ![]()
Oh, I can’t believe I forgot to mention my current favorite, especially since I’ve stolen that last line and use it all the time.
Progressive insurance’s commercial where the guy is at the cash register and tells the cashier he saved $350 dollars. The cashier announces his savings and then starts giving him all these boxes and cans of services.
“Wow.”
“WOW!-- I say it louder.”
Again, it’s the delivery that gets me.
I love that one, too! I always wonder what my dogs are thinking. ![]()
McDonald’s sweet ice tea with the guy, the cup, and the TV set. Simple concept, complex execution, and very effective.
It’s actually Push It by Salt n Peppa that’s playing on the boombox in the Nextel commercial. Great 80s song.
Can’t do Youtube at work, but the line reminds me of a commercial for Rainier beer that had some of my old shipmates in stitches.
Why’n’cha see if a search under Rainier beer turns up anything.
ETA, or, if Dr. Rieux is accurate, my shipmates misinformed me again… try Stroh’s, like he said.
Except when it’s amazingly touching and sad
My current favorite is for Gerber Graduates. There’s a lady in a park watching her little boy and talking about the product. She says something to the effect of, “They’re great for when … [upon seeing her son, off-camera] big boys don’t pull their pants down in public!” Then she does the “I’m watching you” thing with her hand. Cracks me up every time.
Ha! I was at a dog rescue event on Saturday and titled one of the dog photos “I know it’s not bacon.”
A commercial for Denny’s featured Tony Sirico’s character Paulie ‘Walnuts’ Gualtieri, of Sopranos fame. He swaggers into a fast food restaurant and orders breakfast. His order comes up, looking small, pathetic, and not nearly like what one might expect a breakfast to look like. Paulie pulls out a wad of bills and with his bejeweled mobster fingers, slides them across the counter. The clerk looks awkwardly at the cash, realizing it is Monopoly money, reluctantly telling him “Sir, you can’t pay with that.” Paulie begins to get get cross, asking “Why not?” The clerk says “Because it’s not real money?” Paulie points an accusatory finger at his order, telling the clerk with his trademark cockeyed glare, “Well dat’s not a real breakfast.”
Video is here for those who wish to see. Absolutely cracks me up.
I love, love, love this commercial (great carryover of a TV character into an effective ad campaign (we’re talking about it).
The one where he pulls down the sign, I only love[sup]2[/sup] though.
Seconding Discovery Channel’s Boomdiada. The best part is definitely Stephen Hawking’s “boomdiada” line, although the Mythbusters’ appearance is a close second.
The BEST !
Beer Commercial for Greene King IPE. Guy keeps dying in different ways and keeps waking up - because the Grim reaper is busy having a beer at the pub
200 Dachsunds (Sprint) Best line at the end: STAMPEDE!!!
EDS presents Cat Herding Hilarious.
A few years ago Office Max had a campaign using the song “Rubber Band Man.” There were a few of them. Here’s the “Back to School” one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JaaZl4ZDz6M&feature=related
I can’t find it online, but Jack In The Box has always done some winner commercials. The one I am thinking of was to introduce some new burger. Let’s call it the Bacon Deluxe. The commercial shows Jack and an ad exec behind one-way glass as they try to distract a group of guys from the sandwich. First, they show a car. Nothing. The guys are still huddled around the sandwich. Then they show them sports. Nothing. Then they offer them a stack of cold beers. Nothing. The last offering is three girls in neligees having a pillow fight. The guys are riveted on the burger. Jack looks dumb-founded as the ad exec murmers “We can rule the world!”
Honda’s Cog took 606 takes, no camera tricks, miniscule amount of CGI: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGngcQb_0qg
