Here is mine:
- Succession
- Slow Horses
- Bojack Horseman
- Lodge 49
- Mrs. Davis
Here is mine:
I was going to start talking about Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jessica Jones and The Good Place and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Poker Face, and suddenly I realized I maybe just like watching shows where a woman who’s got issues is, y’know, trying to do her best…
I’ll list a few:
Alice in Borderland
Derry Girls
His Dark Materials
Severance
Wheel of Time
Squid Game
The Mandalorian (season 1 and 2, anyway)
Legion
The Magicians
Mr. Robot
I’m sure I missed some, but those are some highlights.
The Good Place, which I’m currently rewatching A 4 year, 50 episode study in ethics and one of the funniest shows ever.
Strange New Worlds (Star Trek) Action adventure Star Trek Prequel to the Original Show and closest to the original show with many of the classic characters.
Stranger Things, An Homage to Stephen King and Spielberg movies of the 80s done to perfection. But seriously if you don’t know about this show to some degree, probably means you’re living under a rock.
Good Omens season 2 is coming this year on Prime, an incredible translation from book to show starring David Tennant with a great cast.
Ghosts (both versions) UK sitcom with a US sitcom remake but different. The wife inherits and old manor, suffers a head injury nearly killing her and she can now see Ghosts. The Ghosts are an eccentric group from many time periods.
Chernobyl (HBO miniseries) About the infamous nuclear disaster. Incredibly well done.
Loki on Disney+, *A time-whimey adventure show about the God of Mischief, or at least the MCU version of him.
I think it would be more useful if posters included brief descriptions and links.
Good Place would definitely be an honorable mention for me, also Last Week Tonight.
Last Week Tonight could be on my list too and I’m sure I’m forgetting a few others. Also a few shows where season 1 was awesome but then the show didn’t keep up the quality.
I had meant to ask for top five, but didn’t set a limit.
I’ll fixed your title by just putting Five in the front. Let me know if you want to change it to something else.
In no particular order:
Schitt’s Creek
Severance
Ted Lasso
Yellowstone
Miniseries:
Chernobyl
Station Eleven
Watchmen
A Small Light
Thanks, that’s be great.
Of course, us being dopers, most of us will not stick to 5. As proof I present almost every thread where dopers are asked to limit their replies to a small number. But at least you won’t get too many over 20.
The Good Place
Wednesday (Netflix)
The Umbrella Academy (Netflix)
The Boys (Amazon Prime)
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix)
On any given day, I could sub out a few others, and some that may or may not be mini-series such as Good Omens (which at least deserved an honorable mention).
Wednesday was really good and I forgot Only Murders in this Building.
This is hard to narrow it down.
Crap, the Boys, how could I forget the Boys? That bumps Mrs. Davis to honorable mention.
Mostly in order of how much I liked it:
The Good Place
I only stumbled upon it a few months ago and watched it twice. Hilarious and touching. And how do you not fall in love with Kristen Bell, D’Arcy Carden and Kirby Howell-Baptiste?
Veep
Perhaps the most cynical show ever, which is sad because it really echoes political reality. So, so funny despite Trump seemingly using a lot of plot points as a playbook.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Really great period piece. And again, how do you not fall in love with Rachel Brosnahan?
Better Call Saul
It’s all been said about this one by people more articulate than me.
For All Mankind
I’m a big space history buff, so this is right in my wheelhouse. Very interesting to think how things might have gone if certain events had been just a little different.
Veep was another great show, especially the first couple of seasons.
I keep meaning to watch television.
Those are almost certainly my top 4. Checking and it looks like Veep ended within 5 years, so that’d be my 5th or maybe 4th above Watchmen.
