What are you drinking these days? Personally I’ve been hitting the Southern Comfort like it’s going out of style. 2 shots in the morning, 2 shots at night. I take 2 shots before I take 2 shots, and then I take 2 more.
You are all going to die from drinking crap. Now then…
For a smooth shot, I like to take my Stolichnaya vodka and shake it with ice, strain and shoot. Yummy, like getting hit on the inside with a snowball…
I’ve got a friend who has taught me how to make flavored vodka’s, and I will be setting up to make some peach flavored Stoli soon.
For just kicking back and having a refreshing drink, an ice cold Hard Core is very nice. Although, again, I will be attempting to make my own this winter… wish me luck!!
Never fear. There’s more than enough to go around.
Tristan: Crap is good for people, just like saturated fats are. I’ve sampled all the Stoly flavors, and the only one I didn’t love was kurant. To be honest, I’m not sure what that stuff is supposed to tast like. But it is bad.
Meephead my friend, tequilla is great. I highly recomend Don Eduardo, Don Julio, or Corallejo.
What’s my favorite hard liquor? That’s a hard one. It depends on my mood. Early in the evening I start with Tequilla. When I’m feeling surly I go for the whiskey. Gin keeps me going through the rainy nights. Vodka is nice on warm sunny days. Rum is excellent for clubs. Scotch is nice for when it’s cold.
My favorites?
Junipero Gin, followed by Tanqueray Ten, and then Bombay Saphire
Old Potrero Whiskey, Bookers, Basil Hayden, The watchamafuckit that comes in a square rectangular bottle (can’t remember the name), Knob Creek, and Maker’s Mark
Appleton Rum, Myer’s, and then Bacardi
Don Eduardo, Corallejo, Don Julio
Belvedere, Kettle One, Grey Goose, Absolute
Glen Livet, Johnny Wlaker Gold, Glenfiddich, and Glenmoragh
I like peaty, medicinal Islay malts. My favourite is Lagavulin. My partner’s family have introduced me to all sorts of lovely malts, but I can’t remember the names of any at the moment.
My favourite vodka is Zubrowka, flavoured with authentic bison grass, dontcha know.
Currently, I’ve developed a bit of a thing for Amaretto. I hope this isn’t the beginning of some awful “sweet drink” trend.
I’ll toast to Coldfire, LCP2972, Dr. Pinky and oldscratch with a dram (or two) of Bowmore or Bunnahaphain single malt scotch. Both are good medium bodied, and not heavily peated. Cheers.
Dave
Weird, isn’t it? Normally, I’m a vodka drinker (hand over the Stoli and you will come to no harm) but lately I’ve been on this weird kick for Amaretto sours. I usually don’t get into sweet/“tasty” stuff, but they’re just so…so…nummy! There ought to be a support group for this kind of thing.
For scotch, I like Laphroaig, for its strong Islay taste.
For bourbon, Wild Turkey 101 proof, because I like to drink to get drunk, and that gets me there pretty quickly.
As a general purpose drink, I usually go for Southern Comfort.
For gin, I like Bombay Sapphire, but really only as 90% of a martini. Though I tried Tanqueray No. 10 last night, and it was good. Good enough for three of them, which got interesting.
Aside from the vermouth for the martinis, I generally like my alcohol straight up or on the rocks. Mixers are for wusses.
Dark Rum…I’m an ex-navy man…what can I say. Captain Morgan’s is my fav. Lambs does in a pinch, and Contiki Rum for a long day standing marching around on Rememberance Day.
(Veterans Day)
Vodka is dandy. Rye makes me violent. I’ve been snokered on it just once…and was a madman. Scotch is evil. It smells of feet and rancid peanuts. Gin?? Gin?? Just hideous.
Right now, I’m hoarding a bottle of Old Bushmill, a rather nice single malt Irish whiskey. I like it with just enough ice to cool the glass.
That Glenmorangie sounds interesting though, I’ll have to try some if I can find it. The Oregon Liquor Control Commission has some very peculiar ideas about what can and cannot be sold in this state. May they rot in Hell! Ptui!
When I’m out and about though I just drink Margaritas 'cause I don’t like to get drunk in public.
