Favorite Reality Show Artist

AMong the idols and the dancers and the ventriloquists and yodelers… who is your PERSONAL favorite artist, the one you genuinely enjoy, the person whose album or show you would pay to see?

I know I don’t know all of 'em but I’ll take a stab at a poll anyway

POLL COMING

I was going to limit it to one, but that would probably have been too boring…

If I had my vote would have gone to Michael Grimm.

You forgot a “none of the above” option.

I got to see those quick change artists (David & Dania) from America’s Got Talent.
They were one of a dozen acts at our local Shrine circus that I paid about $20 to see. They were really good.
I don’t think I’d pay to see any of the others you listed.

WTF is Sam Harris, the first winner on “Star Search”?

I notice you don’t have anyone from “So You Think You Can Dance” – most of my candidates would be from that show. (Loves me some Travis Wall.)

Lauren, Sabra and Twitch are all SYTYCD. I started watching in the third season, I think, and I love it. I wish I could see the first few seasons. Why don’t they syndicate or DVD reality shows, apart from some “greatest hits” compilations? Or do they and I missed it?

I get kinda sad sometimes about that show, that it doesn’t get the kind of love it deserves, or the kids don’t. A great voice is trainable, but it’s either there or not, you can sit around all day watching TV and walk on stage and knock it out of the park.

But the dancers, man…they deserve so much respect. They are top-notch athletes who have, one way or another, spent long, hard, sweaty years of injuries and pain working to be as good as they are, and once they are on the show they are doing amazing work, learning incredibly complex and demanding routines, at least 3 every week.

And for what? A dancer’s life is brutal, just like an athletes: hard work, huge potential for injuries large and small, very short careers, and, unlike the big sports leagues, hardly anyone really makes much money at it. Maybe the choreographers. But unless you use it as a springboard to something more lucrative (Hello Paula & Jennifer), it’s very little monetary reward for a whole boatload of work.

American Idol and the like…well, some I’m sure love their music, but still so many see it as a fast track to fame and riches, and it certainly is. But even the winners on SYTYCD generally fade into obscurity after the win.

At least there’s a helluva lot more work for dancers these days than there was many years back. Being a dancer in the 70’s was a really hard road.

Bianca Ryan rocks!!! I heard she is currently working on a bunch of her own songs with Quincy Jones… I know that Simon Cowell and the A&R dept at Sony Records tried to mess her career up in a BIG WAY when they made her sing a bunch of “White Bread” “Non Soulful” songs on her debut CD. The songs didn’t even come close to the singing style she was known for while on the show America’s Got Talent and the style we her fans expected the record label to recognize and develop (idiots)… but I guess thats what greedy record labels do huh…always trying to burn the artist to get that fast buck… but they are reaping what they’ve sown over the decades and are all losing their shirts thanks to the internet and free music download sites… who needs a record label or a television show to get famous nowadays??? NO ONE!!! that’s what YOUTUBE is for… hahaha…
