FBI Search and Seizure at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Residence, August 8, 2022, Case Dismissed July 15, 2024

AIUI, the only method to remove a Federal judge is via the impeachment/conviction process by the House and Senate. This is what should happen, but won’t.

Just in case anybody missed it, that is a parody site. Much as we all wish this were true.

He thinks he’s still President but is in fact not, so his magical mental powers apparently have limits.

But if the Feds were actually looking for Hillary’s emails at Mar-a-Lago, wouldn’t Trump be glad? Wouldn’t he be cooperating as much as possible?

What makes it tricky is that the fake part of the article is no more ridiculous than the true part of the article.

I’ve always considered him as something of a mutant, so that tracks. Professor Trump and the Q-Men.

A couple of things stood out to me in the order. First, the consistent referral to the United States (rather than the government / the National Archives / the FBI &c); and second, the statement that the documents “properly belonged to the people of the United States, not to Plaintiff.”

Probably more symbolic than legally significant, though the first point is almost certainly due to the fact that the United States is the defendant in the original suit. But to me, they helped to highlight who the players are, and what’s at stake.

You’re joking, but don’t be surprised when he actually claims that.

And as for an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court… Nope. What are they going to do… Agree that Trump declassified everything with his Jedi Mind Powers? Even so, as we understand (but Trump apparently does not) it makes no difference if the materials were classified or not. They bore classified markings, and Trump claimed that he had sent the materials back. He had no right to keep ANY presidential materials. He lied. He obstructed justice. The Supreme Court is not going to make a special “Trump is God” rule.

And we’re also talking military secrets. There are few Americans who, even in 2022, don’t like being top War Dog. He’s fucking with our ability to keep our lead, which doesn’t help the general overall attitude of support for him in this issue.

Cannon Fodder responds with a filing:

She strikes the part of her order which allows the Trump team access to the classified docs.

Here, in its entirety:

Seems she got the message.

I can think of few things (any?) more embarrassing to a judge than to be told on the national stage that you abused your discretion.

She deserved no less for that garbage ruling.

As far as I can tell, this officially puts the kibosh on the idea that the classified documents go back to trump, or have anything to do with the special master.

In two weeks: “Hey, we found your 2020 Snoopy calendar?”

Hey, there’s nothing in the Constitution that says that the President can’t mentally declassify anything he wants, or that he has to tell anyone about it if he does. /Thomas, Alito, et al.

Just finished reading. I’m not an attorney, but you don’t need to be one to read this as a complete smack down of Cannon’s decisions.

The DOJ narrowly tailored their appeal, which was smart, but given the response, I wonder if they should have gone nuclear and appealed all the bullshit. I guess not, but I can daydream.

I can’t bring myself to watch it. He really said that? I had assumed that was a joke.

I just read the caption again and it struck me as a great summary of the last 6 years
Donald Trump vs. The United States of America

There’s no need. Biden doesn’t hold a grudge, he will pardon Trump in two weeks.

More trouble for DJT- Biden announced he has mentally reclassified those items that were mentally unclassified. (just kidding, if it wasn’t obvious)

Ha! I hadn’t thought of that, but I agree, a very ironic caption.

I believe they still reserve the right to appeal the full decision. But honestly, having a Special Master go through the non-classified stuff isn’t really a big deal. They still might appeal other parts of it to get rid of this notion that former Presidents get any sort of special treatment in these cases.

They filed the more narrowly tailored appeal to get a quick ruling to continue using the documents marked classified. Seems like a smart and successful strategy.
