Not to mention heart failure or HIV…
FBI Search and Seizure at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Residence, August 8, 2022, Case Dismissed July 15, 2024
And recognize an elephant and a RINO.
Dr_Paprika, I’m sure you’re familiar with this test, but I’m posting it because I think it’s interesting (and others might find it interesting as well). A few years ago I posted it on another board for reasons I no longer recall and someone mentioned that it’s the same test their mother took as part of her dementia screening.
I wouldn’t have guessed things like ‘can you draw a clock’ would judged based on so many metrics, as opposed to the doctor giving a quick yes/no answer like a grade school teacher would.
Those clock drawings were in Oliver Sacks’ book “The Man who Mistook His Wife for a Hat,” IIRC.
I have administered this test hundreds of times. It is not unusual for scoring systems to seem complicated. The test is mainly as a screening tool, to support a diagnosis (and assess degree) of dementia (of which there are many types).
Unlike a school test, you are trying to come to a conclusion and that is more complicated than just a bunch of yes/no things, since there is more information to be gleaned than the mere score.
The test tries to do this independently of literacy, cultural background, education level, and things which might be superficially similar to dementia but are different beasts (low blood sugar, uremia, stupor, drug effects, being drunk, etc.). Even depression.
For example, if you are drunk your drawing may look different from sober, but not necessarily like that of someone with dementia.

While Trump’s competency is an interesting topic, I think we’ve hijacked sufficiently on it. Please start a new thread to discuss Trump’s competency if you wish to, but stop discussing it in this thread. It is only tangentially related to the this topic. Thanks.
nm. Seen note above.
Just saw the mod instructions. Deleting my post, which is a shame 'cause it was awesome.
Thank you. Appreciated, truly.
Yes, everytime I hear the words “librarian” and “archivists”, i think of bomb-throwing radical lefties, practising the Propaganda of the Deed.
I’m guessing the Trump kids are being put to work writing all these justifications.
To Trumpistas, anyone who panders in accumulated knowledge is a dangerous radical.
At some point, one of his kids is going to feel cornered, and then shit gets real.
Don Junior speaks fluent Czech because he was raised by his mom and rarely even saw his dad. There’s a bond, but it isn’t super strong.
I’d find that a lot more believable if the DOJ hadn’t informed her of the actual law in question, and if she hadn’t substituted her own logic in place of what Trump said. And if we didn’t have so much evidence that Trump went judge shopping for her.
You propose she is incompetent. I agree. But then I’d say that the fact she could have helped him in more subtle ways doesn’t say anything about her intent.
The best I can give her is the possibility that she was personally biased towards Trump, and wasn’t aware of how much that was influencing her actions, rather than intentionally bending things towards Trump. And perhaps having other Trump appointed judges side against her will wake her up.
Do, BTW, note that experience is a double edged sword here. Sure, having been a judge yourself gives you insight into judge things, but it also makes one more likely to be biased in favor of a fellow judge, even if only a little. That’s just a normal psychological bias, and one many people forget about.
So Cannon, to the right of them, follied and blundered?
sorry not sorry
You are probably right in all respects. I think rather that bias in favor of judges, it is more that after years of seeing federal judges issue wacky rulings all the time, I’ve stopped trying to attribute them to nefarious intentions.
Thanks for the good post.
AAH!
I missed the mod note about the threadjack.
Apologies. NM.
I have such a huge crush on Sarah Cooper.
I’m on my phone and don’t know how to link an article. But I just read that the special master has brought on an assistant and Trump is bound to pay the assistant 500 bucks an hour.
