FBI Search and Seizure at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Residence, August 8, 2022, Case Dismissed July 15, 2024

Clear and direct. Rather refreshing.

You and me both.

So I may have missed discussion of it here, but it doesn’t seem a violation of the Espionage Act is among the charges? I didn’t see that listed on the screen on ABC just now.

Thirty one counts pertain to the Espionage Act, AIUI.

I understand that. My point is that we need the Breitbart crowd to understand that.

Ah got it. I see now C1-31 are willful retention of national defense information. That would be the Espionage Act stuff.

You know, I could visit websites where I could read, and engage, in reactionary political back and forth with people who feel strongly about their perception of what they’ve heard from their favorite news or “news” sources.
Here, posters notice that the actual indictment has been made public. They then read the indictment, and even post a link to it so that anyone else could read it. Then, discuss what’s in the actual indictment.
Sometimes I feel proud to be a member here among some of you others. You guys kick ass.

It’s chilling to read the indictment and realize that the documents he was keeping largely related to the military capabilities of various countries.

I have little doubt that he was intending on using this for material gain. It has obvious value to foreign actors.

But the disloyalty to our own country is also appallingly apparent.

CNN is talking about how Trump suggested to his lawyers that they destroy documents and tell the government ‘We don’t have them.’

Here’s a link to the poll, @OldOlds:

Trump’s attorney, Jim Trusty, appearing on NBC on Friday morning, said Trump is ready for a battle. “He’s a fighter, and he’s going to come out swinging, and he’ll be fine,” Trusty said. “He’s not afraid of this thing.”

Hours later, in a shocking turn of events, Trusty and another attorney on the team, John Rowley, resigned from the case.

Jim didn’t say who he was fighting.

True. I was thinking more of even getting anywhere close to even having a trial by the time of the 2024 election, which seems doubtful. But of course, if he’s elected he will pardon himself instantly. There’s no way this case will move forward if he’s inaugurated again. And my country will turn into a full-on banana republic at that point.

Pretty shattering that pretty much everything truly rides on a Democrat winning the presidency in 2024, and any Republican winner, not just trump, means an unabashed criminal goes free. And maybe even runs the country.

Trump really tried to keep those documents and Walt Nauta is up to his eyeballs in this, but it’s all on such shaky ground.

i’m still baffled on why att. 3 signed off on a search att. 1 did. seriously! att 1 did the search, why do i need to sign off! why wasn’t that a red flag for her?!

i also think mr smith’s “speedy trial” was a shot straight to judge cannon.

I honestly don’t think Loser Donald is smart enough to monetize stolen info. This looks more like hoarder behavior to me. There’s nothing more going on in his mind than “These are mine and I want them and I like having them”.

Wasn’t he floating the notion that Nixon sold documents back to the government?

The 31 counts all list the classifications of the relevant documents.

Some have subject line like TOP SECRET//[redacted][redcated]ORCON/NOFORN

Do we know what classifications could be so secret that their names have to be redacted?

As I read through the indictment I notice that Trump is referenced as TRUMP in all caps and bolded, just as he likes it, so he should at least feel flattered by that.
(Yeah, maybe it’s standard practice. I don’t know, I’m no lawyer.)

Seconded. I don’t know shit from shinola regarding the intricacies of the legal system and processes in this country. Fortunately, a whole bunch of you folks do.

I remember an article back in the fall of 2022 that speculated on that point. The journalist had been on Air Force One from time to time and commented that Trump always seemed to have a box of documents with him, all jammed together higgledy piggledy, and Trump would occasionally pull a document or two out to show to whoever was with him. The journalist said at the time that he thought it was hoarder behaviour. Trump just wanted the documents with him, as a show of his position or a comfort blanket.

bolding mine and off-topic: This word isn’t used enough. Kudos!
