FBI Search and Seizure at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Residence, August 8, 2022, Case Dismissed July 15, 2024

Wonder if it would be a military tribunal?

Naw, let’s not go there…

Ehhh, Probably not going to get very many bites.

I do, but I can’t talk about it, any more than What Wikipedia says. Suffice it to say that you need the required security clearance, plus Need To Know; and you have to be cleared for access.

Shit. Am I going to get killed just by asking the question? I hate it when that happens…

Probably not. Probably.

It’s been almost 30 years since I’ve had SAP/SAR (it’s OK to say you’ve had it), but I’ve never been debriefed on the programs allowing their existence. Undue interest in a particular project, even today, would warrant a report to authorities.

Made my day!

It’s anything that requires Special Access - basically if it’s something you want to limit who knows about it, you put it in a SAP. SAP is not a level of classification, it’s just an additional level of controls. Something can be Secret//SAR or Top Secret//SAR, or various other flavors.

So by itself it basically means something that rises above the standard requirements to label something Secret, and thus justifies having higher levels of controls placed on it. Just having a clearance isn’t enough to have access - you have to be explicitly granted access.

There is no doubt that the President sees tons and tons of stuff marked SAR all day long. Why he would grab a box of it and keep it in the basement, I’m not sure…

Although the Wiki mentions that “Presidential support activities” are a SAP, so it’s entirely possible that a daily schedule or something mundane like that might be marked SAR.

You have a way with getting to the heart of the matter.

Trump just announced he isn’t going to fight it. Which is just as well as it isn’t his decision and he would likely be ruled against by a judge who likely knows their ruling as I type this.

It’s actually both Don Henley and Bruce Hornsby, written and performed by both (Hornsby on keyboards, Henley on vocals).

Though the Wiki page for the song doesn’t split credit between music and lyrics)

Maybe he thinks it will be as “perfect” as the transcript of his phone call.

Roswell? Area 51? The Ark of the Covanent? Location of Jimmy Hoffa?

It’s the piano that made me think, Yea that’s Bruce.

From the article:

The people, who also spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the investigation, said that as authorities engaged in months of discussions on the subject, some officials came to suspect the Trump team was not being truthful.

Good heavens! Say it isn’t so! :astonished:

Was it in this thread or somewhere else that there was a report that Republican operatives were being told by more senior Republicans to cool their jets on how the search was purely partisan?

I like how this song has weaved in and out of the thread with its unbefore recognized duality of ownership. Like its the threads themesong.

This is the ennnd, of the innocence . . .

And he is also in possession of it now. He could have disclosed it since Monday.

The Republican leaders are backing Trump’s claims.

The only one I see pushing back is Liz Cheney.

Two thoughts:

  1. Telling the world that there are nuclear secrets out in the wild, in Trump’s general region, seems like a pretty bad idea. What if the FBI didn’t get them all? You’ve just narrowed the circle pretty tightly.
  2. I’m curious - for purposes of hopeful schadenfreude - when Mr. Bratt was appointed/promoted into his current position?

and atomic energy. This could be hilarious if The Former Guy has information about generating nuclear power and does not realize it is not the same thing as nuclear weapons.

Now enough serious people are involved in this to discourage me from honestly thinking that is actually the case, but the word nuclear tends have a very specific connotation when paired with national security. Actually, many US Naval ships have nuclear power plants and I am quite sure nefarious foreign actors would like to know more about that nearly as much as they would like the kind of atomic weapons information the intelligence agencies were likely to entrust to Trump.

Without doubt Trump has done some very damaging and criminal acts - - - - - and the net result will be that he will more or less escape serious consequences. Perhaps enough to limit his influence, and I would love to see him criminally convicted (even if only gets house arrest!), but never will he ever get what he actually deserves.

But with the upswing in good news on the left, plus Trump providing us with this scandal to make his views appalling to any sensible voter might be enough to make this mid-term cycle unique in favoring the party in power. In addition to this scandal for team Trump, I am hoping when the Select Committee holds new hearings they will be able to reveal not only things that make Trump appear as evil as he is – but also to make his extreme and certifiably insane supported candidates seem a bridge too far - even to many devout Republicans.

There is far too much uncertainty at this point to put very much faith in this investigation – however Merrick Garland is to be applauded for handling this nearly perfectly so far and I DO wish him well in prosecuting Trump in this matter as well as many other matters.
