I don’t know if this is a feature that’s already there but I can’t find it, or something that would be requested from Jelsoft.
It would be very useful to be able to mark a thread to be never shown to you again. I particulary want this feature for when the yahoo who started the thread made an asinine non-descriptive title, and I end up opening the thread several times before I remember it’s not something I’m interested in.
There is no feature like that in the current version of the software. I am unaware if vBulletin 3.0 has that in it, but I know it exists as a hack. The SDMB Staff have said many times they will not implement these hacks so they don’t get swamped with work, revision control, and potential new “undesired features”, so it’s not going to happen.
I would put said “yahoo” on Ignore. The thread title will still be displayed, but at least you won’t have to read anything they write ever again.
Actually, it might increase the board CPU usage, because now whenever you view a forum, it’s got to pull all the threads, cross-reference them with your ignore list, and run from the leftovers. Sure, you’d open fewer threads, but given the low proportion of available threads that any one member is going to open, the savings wouldn’t be enough to offset the cost.
