I believe he’s saying if you have a PO Box & package/box delivered to it that is too big to fit in it you have to stand in line behind everyone buying stamps, shipping (large) envelopes or packages, getting passport forms, etc. until it’s your turn at the front of the line for the clerk to retrieve your package.
Okay. But my post was about sending mail, not receiving it. So it didn’t seem to follow.
I understood that, but I sometimes still have to wait for my packages. Mostly stuff my wife orders.
You sometimes get caught in a ‘line’ at UPS, but they are very fast.
Sometimes. Other times they’ve been as slow as the USPS. If I have to go to either I try to time it for fairly early morning.
what about letters?
Assuming you need that letter to be there overnight, I suppose it’s possible that Fedex might be cheaper. But as you are no doubt aware, they really don’t compete for regular mail delivery.
Plus those other services often drop stuff off with the USPS to deliver the last leg. If the USPS dies, people in the boonies might have to drive 20 or 30 miles to pick up a package.
Heh. Already there. We don’t get USPS mail delivery. Period. Never have.
As far as utilities go, we have electricity.
Our own well and septic, no landline. Cell phones have come a long way though, I have an antenna on the house pointing at a cell location. And Starlink for internet and TV. And fun times, I often have to plow the snow off the road.
