My CC number got stolen, so I waiting for a new card. It will need to be signed for.
It’s coming FedX.
I’m hard of hearing, so may not hear the doorbell. Sigh. I left a note on the door to call me @ 555-5555 if I don’t answer the door. Do you think they will, or am I stuck sitting near the front door and doorbell?
I purchased a remote doorbell set up, but of course it doesn’t work. No credit card, new house and lots of things to do. Working full time still too. Juggling 10 balls with one hand.
In my limited experience, FedEx hasn’t been very good about special instructions. But maybe that’s not how it is in your delivery zone or whatever FedEx calls it.
AFAIK, if all else fails, they could either just leave the package at a door or try a few times and then leave a note telling you to come get the package yourself at their depot.
If FEDEX requires a signature for delivery and the recipient is not there to sign, won’t FEDEX leave an “Attempted Delivery” note that allows one to sign that and have the package redelivered?
I donno, about any of this. My new house gets deliveries, my old house (that I still own) does not. So, I’ve really not had delivery before. Not even mail.
I do know that I would like the new CC. I can travel to a bank about 8 miles away to get more cash, but that’s going to be problematic with my life.
And I also don’t know if the the card is supposed to come today, or maybe tomorrow. The person at the CC company could not speak clearly. At all. I could not understand her.
If you miss it, you can just drive to FedEx and pick it up there later that night. Or you can request (online or by phone) that they just hold it there and not even try to deliver.
Hopefully your delivery driver is feeling nice and just calls you though. Maybe tape a $10 by the note?
This. FedEx deliveries are a crapshoot here at The Home. I have delivery instructions (door code, etc.) in my FedEx profile and no driver yet has bothered to use them. Sometimes they’ll leave a sticker on the front door with NONE of the fields filled in, and a big mysterious number scrawled across it in Sharpie. Completely useless. I personally hate FedEx.
Maybe in an ideal world.
If I were you, I’d station myself by the front door with a big pitcher of iced tea (or beverage of choice), snacks, a book and/or iPad/kindle, etc., and just wait. Trying to get that delivery by some other means if you miss it today will be a whole lot more of a nuisance than just giving up a few hours of your day. And you’ll be without your new credit card for one more day. Voice of experience speaking here.
In my somewhat extensive experience, FedEx will never do anything more than ring the doorbell, and then put a note on the door saying that delivery was attempted.
When I am expecting a signature-required package, I make sure I’m their the whole day.
Yeah, that was gonna be my plan. The front yard needs mowed, so that’s what I’ll do I think. Work computer is down. Nobody seems to know what the hell is going on. ‘Systems’ says they are installing a new video card in my computer. It’s a freaking VM. A virtual machine. The guy I trust and was supposed to update the machine this weekend is at a wedding (An update the sys admin agree does not need to be done, a waste of time. Well that waste of time came a knocking)
He is the main sys admin. I get along with him very well. We ALL know that I going to retire soon, my systems are working fine. They will be wiped clean when I leave.
You really ought to get an additional credit card or two. I believe one should have at least 3 credit cards: two in a wallet/purse and one in your house. It’s not uncommon for a credit card to be rejected–so you need a backup. And some of us have lost our wallet/purse–so need a backup until new credit cards arrive.
Likewise I think you need a backup bank in case your primary bank account is frozen because of identity theft/fraud.
The card came, I had a note on the door that got ripped off by the driver. I was not but 25 feet away, went to get the door, and the truck had turned around and was leaving.
What ever.
Now I dealing with Lowes that my Wife and I have spent
10k at in the last month. They have delivered a bunch of stuff, but the work bench I want has them in a complete tizzy. It’s on their freaking website, I saw one in their store. It’s a bit more than I want to handle on my own though.
I don’t know how many times people have said “I’ll call you right back”.
Me, too. Although I’ve had mostly good luck lately (and not horrible service before – just a couple of minor aggravating situations). If a signature’s required, they always knock. So, I also hang around when I know it’s going to come. Fortunately, my desk with my PC is maybe six steps from my front door.
Could he have seen you coming toward the door? I don’t know if FedEx guys have the same time restraints as amazon delivery people.
