Anyone have any idea what a cab from the wharf to Alameda might run? I see that the last ferry to leave SF leaves at 7:00 pm, so I was thinking ferry there, cab back. Any thoughts?
There is (again) an ever-so slim chance that we’ll be able to attend. Mrs. WeHaveCookies is ill, so our White Elephant hunt and visit to my dear old Mom up in Humboldt is being postponed till next weekend. If her head cold clears up a bit, and we end up not being as broke as we fear we are after springing for a last-minute flight for my mother-in-unlawful-lesbian-sin to come out here from North Dakota for Christmas…maybe we will see y’all there.
I’d say cab from FW to Alameda should run at least $40-$50, depending on where on the island you’re headed. You could try the San Francisco Taxi Fare Finder, but that just sticks on “Calculating…” for me (after I’ve entered suitable start and destination addresses and clicked “Go”).
The Yellow Cab fare estimator gives $41 (City Hall SF - City Hall Alameda), which should be a ballpark figure.
By public transit, you could take Muni’s F streetcar or 10-Townsend bus (both of which stop a couple of blocks from Jack’s Cannery Bar) [$1.50 fare] to the Transbay Terminal (for the F, get off at 1st and Market and walk one block; the 10-Townsend goes all the way there). Then take the AC Transit Line O [$3.50] from the Transbay Terminal to Alameda (goes along Webster Ave then Santa Clara Ave, so easy walking to anywhere on the island). $5 total bar-to-home!
Alternatively, Muni F (or 10-Townsend) to Market St, then BART to 12th St - Oakland [$2.75] then cab [~$10?] to Alameda, but getting the cab in downtown Oakland may not be trivial depending on timing.
