Feud erupts between Chris Brown and CM Punk

You know those two kids have gotten back together, at least musically. Google it.

ETA: This post is purely informational.

Yup. Both these guys are promoting their careers this way. Not exactly the kind of attention the underlying issue needs.

Yeah I don’t see how a guy who fights in choreographed fights can “spontaneously” fight another guy in a paid event. Pro wrestlers ultimately have to be on the same side or someone is going to get hurt.

Perhaps this Mr. Punk can get a UFC guy to get mad at Chris Brown instead.

From what I can tell, Punk wants it to be a shoot fight, MMA rules or something. He knows better than to try to get a celebrity match. He knows and respects the business and knows that celebrity matches end up being embarrassing.

I guess we need to get a female wrestler to kick Chris’ ass.

I’m not sure that this was a publicity stunt. Punk is not afraid to speak his mind on Twitter and this is just an example. If Chris Brown had not responded no one would be talking about this today. #Aintnowomanbeater was tweeted on Feb 21 and since then the only think Punk has posted was a retweet about something Conan O’brien said on his show. If this was a publicity stunt there would be a lot more coming from Punk.

WWE did milk this for publicity by mentioning it on their shows but this was not a thing that Vince McMahon planned out. As much as a publicity hound McMahon is this just isn’t his style. But he might as well take advantage of it while he can.

I’m sure Kharma (Kia Stevens) or Beth Phoenix (Elizabeth Carolan) would be all over that.

But no way Brown would touch that.
You lose, you got your ass handed to you by a woman on national TV.
You win, you’re an even bigger douchebag.

Particularly look for the Brian Blair rant. Classic.

Okay, I spent a shameful amount of time watching those videos this morning, and the Brian Blair one did not come up, but I’ll look for it now. **Loach **is indeed correct: for such a manly man, he sure does spend a lot of time threatening to fuck other dudes in their assholes. Some of the “interviews” are entirely incoherent, but therein lies the charm!

Everything a professional wrestler does in public is a publicity stunt.

They also still have Stone Cold Steve Austin make appearances on an occasional basis. While he’s no Mike Tyson (at least he’s not a convicted rapist) he’s certainly got a track record with women at least as bad as this Chris Brown asshole.

Despite the choreographed nature of “sports entertainment” a lot of the guys really do know how to handle themselves in a legit fight. Maybe they couldn’t take on a top level MMA guy, but a chumpstain like Chris Brown who’s used to picking on girls wouldn’t cause them much sweat.

A lot of them do MMA training to keep in shape and gets ideas for new moves.

Right. Not nearly tasteless enough. Knowing Vince, at some point down the road, an angle where CM Punk beats up his girlfriend/wife will be pitched.

I doubt it. He would have back in 1998 or so, but not in the PG era.

Several of Chris Brown’s defenders have brought this up and asked why CM Punk hasn’t called out Stone Cold instead. I’m no expert on pro wrestling, so I can’t say if Austin has ever publically apologized or repented or what-have-you. AFAIK he’s never gotten into trouble again since the domestic violence incident with his ex-wife Debra. Perhaps he has truly reformed. CM Punk never said in any of his statements that woman-beaters can never be forgiven, just that Chris Brown’s own behavior did not show that he’s changed at all. As Punk knows Austin professionally, he may feel that Austin has reformed himself to a standard acceptable to Punk (whether or not that standard is acceptable to Debra, or you or I or anyone else, is beyond the scope of this thread).

Well, I haven’t watched it since about 2001, so if it’s toned down, I missed it. Still, I can’t see the organization that did the sort of things they did in the 90s, having an angle like this.

IIRC, he got arrested for beating up another girlfriend after Debra.

You are of course welcome to your own opinion, but it doesn’t seem to be based on reality.

Destiny’s Child - "Lose My Breath.

Prince - “Black Sweat.”

Justin Timberlake - “Sexy Back.”

Janet Jackson - “All Nite (Don’t Stop).”

There is a lot of weak-ass shit in all of modern music, but there is also a metric ton of amazing stuff out there right now, and anyone who is dismissing modern music is doing themselves a real dis-service.

I don’t listen to his music at all but you are right he is definitely not a rapper. But the difference between his music and new “rap” songs is not very big.

Is there a difference between hip-hop and R&B? Because the only song I recognize on that list is Sexy Back, which I would not have though of as “rhythm and blues.”

Back to the topic at hand, I think WWE performers should engage in more real life feuds with celebrities. The WWE should become the police of the entertainment world, calling out punks like Chris Brown. Also, this thread has inspired me to follow the Iron Shiek on twitter and WOW, what a riot!
