This one is a bit bigger. About 15 feet in, you can see some light from above. The is a small shaft leading up about 10 feet, and some small cracks in the top are showing faint daylight. Ahead, there is a steep dropoff.
I guess I’ll go first again holding the torch in front of me as best I’m able and just having everyone touch the foot of the person in front of them so we can stay together. Maybe we can rig our bed rolls so Brunis doesn’t have to leave his armor behind either that or he should go with the other group and we can bring Ingmar instead since we need a warrior and he might fit better
The bedroll thing will work.
Alright then, onward into the darkness.
Looks like I’m going through third, sans mail. I’m putting it back on as soon as it’s obvious that we have room. However it’s stored, it’s as near to hand as I can manage.
You crawl through what turns out to be a fairly long and claustophobia-inducing tunnel. When you come out the other side, you’re facing a drop of a good 8 feet. There’s not really a way to turn around and go feet first. The room you enter is quite large, probably 40 feet across. The floor slopes down towards the middle of the room, all the way around. The closer to the center, the steeper the slope gets. It’s like a big funnel. (If you walked around the edge, though, you probably wouldn’t fall in.)
There are a few other tunnels out of this room. One is way off to your right. Someone is in that one. You can see their torchlight.
After a quick scan of the room, I’d motion for silence, put my mail back on, and slowly and quietly check out the torchlight.
I’d be expecting that maybe these tunnels twist, so that it might be the torch from the other group. But then it might not be. Ax away and sword out.
Not yet. Right now you’re staring at Cella’s butt. Or you would be, if there was any light.
Ingmar will be very quiet. And try to make with the sneakink to get closer to the light. But no risks… If he can try to catch a view of inside the room with the reflection on his Axe, it would be better, no?
Ah. The pile up in the tunnel. We all get to drop 8 feet in the dark.
Looks like it’s Symon first.
How steep and how far?
About 80 degrees and 10 feet.
There’s someone in here. You can see torchlight coming from a passage to the left.
Is there a way to the left passage that avoids the drop off?
I mean a 10 ft. drop-off when intentionally navigating it is harmless, but the problem is once we get down it, it’s going to be difficult to get back up.
(And OOC, I think our two parties are going to be reuniting in short time. They see torchlight to the right and we see torchlight to the left.)
True, that. But there is always the trick of cupping your hands for someone to step in, or having someone step on your back.
It’s a bitch, but it’s not insurmountable.
And no, there’s no other way around.
How far does the torch’s light reach. (I.e. there’s not something hiding in the bottom of the drop-off, is there?)
It has a radius of 20 feet.
Okay, I’ll hand the torch off to one of my companions and have them shine it so I can see where I’m coing down as I lower myself down by my arms into the pit. When my arms are fully extended, I’ll ask for the torch back, (I should be able to support myself briefly enough with one arm to grab the torch with the other) and then drop the last few feet .
You ungracefully fall on your butt, but you’re unharmed.
Who’s next? Me?
You’re still waiting for Symon, as you’re in the other tunnel.
