Field of Daisies (a Harnic RPG)

If it tries to bite me- bash it in the brains! Bork Bork Bork!

Clearing up a couple of things:

They didn’t come out of the hole. There are 4 tunnels that lead into this chamber, more or less equidistant from each other. Let’s call them, going clockwise around the room, tunnels A, B, C, and D. A is the narrow crawly one. B and C are unexplored. D is the one you just came out of. The hole in the floor is in the middle of the room and does not directly connect to any tunnel. The creatures came out of C.

They do indeed look like little T-Rexes. Sort of. They have no wings, so they can’t fly.

But they can leap! One leaps a good 20’, straight at Ingmar’s head.

Ingmar, you have 4 choices:

  1. Dodge the attack (get out of the way)
  2. Block it with either your axe or shield (shield gives more of a bonus)
  3. Counter attack, which leaves you defenseless
  4. Ignore it and let it hurt you willingly

Here arer your appropriate skills, higher is better:

Dodge 40, Axe 98, Shield 97

I’ve been kidnapped and taken to Disney World. My access is wildly intermittent. If I’m not on, Brunis will fight if attacked (can he use the sword and axe at the same time?), and will follow the decisions of the group. If there’s an arguement, he’ll tend to side with Cella and/or Ingmar.

Kidnapped, I tell you.

You can use it to counterattack giant mice!

Shield and another weapon is usually your best bet, but use either that you’d like. If you want, I can just choose whatever option I think is best. (I’m pretty well-versed in the combat system, so I know what works.)

“Maybe we should try and fight with our back us against the easy to fall into hole. Let’s move up to the wall and get our back against it, remember the closer we are to the hole the slipperier it is.”

Symon is going to take his own advice and try to move up to the wall trying to distract the critters and focusing mainly on dodging rather then attacking.

Good point.

We also might want to see if we can push those things into the hole. We just got to make sure we don’t fall in ourselves.

Considering how far they can jump and their claws, I don’t think that hole will be much of a nuisance to them.

All good ideas. In the meantime, though, one of these critters is headed for Ingmar’s head. He needs to declare an action.

Ingmar will make with the blockink with his shield and Shriekink like a girl!
Gee… 40 Dodge, 97 Shield. Which one should I got for? -_-

Yes, block.
Then crush immediately.

Don’t thinking about it too long!

The critter flies up towards your face. You manage to block it with your shield. It gets its claws right into the wood and hangs on. You try to shake it off, but are unable to. You finally try pushing it off with your axe. It leaps away, but you manage to graze its right leg.

The sucker is FAST, and it immediately tries to bite your leg. You block it again. It moves away with lightning speed, but your warrior-like reflexes bring your axe down to smash its tiny skull.

Nice work. For a toymaker. +1 to your axe skill.

The other one moves away from Brunis and goes over to the ledge below the crawly tunnel. It leaps up onto the edge and hides. You can see its snout poking out from the tunnel and sniffing at you.

Is thing 1 dead?

Its skull is smashed open and it’s not moving.

I poke the corpse with my Axe… No Acidy Blood or nuthink special, no?

Then Ingmar will turn to face the other wee beasties. “Ingmar did not vant to hurt you, but do NOT be makink with the bitink to a man who plays with toys for a livink! You all were so cute too! I vanted one of you to be my pet! But now with the bitink and the scratchink, perhaps it is time to finish this, no? Before they go run to their mommas and poppas.”

The blood does seem to be a sort of off color, but it’s hard to tell in this light. It seems a little pale and yellowish.

The other critter is blocking off your escape from tunnel A, but tunnel D is still behind you. The critters came from tunnel C, and tunnel B is directly opposite you.

Symon notices a carving on the wall behind him. It looks like a language. Half of you are illiterate, and two of you that can read don’t recognize the script. (Ingmar recognizes it as the script of his people, but most of them never bothered to learn to read.) Eren recognizes it as Runic, the language of the Orbaalese (like Ingmar) and the Khuzdul.

“Here Ended Jurdam’s Folly”, it says.

" Hey there. Those scribbles on de wall. That’s Ingmar’s people’s language, but Inmar no know how to read it too well. Ingmar merely humble toymakink man in this life. Speak softly and carry a big Ax. Anyways, these Creatures not so tough. Let’s get this over with so we can continue with the little child huntink, no? "

Stand aside, you unlettered animals…

Ingmar, ever heard of Jurdam? Know anything about a folly?
(Has he?)

"I’ve got your back Ingmar if you need it, but understand that my combat experience is more along the lines of fending off petty thieves and small animals.

“Is that your way of sayink you wants the Toymaker to go and squishy the other one too?”

No.

This may be very new graffiti and it just might say “Here’s where Jordan poked Sally in the butt” or “Huge Sale at Jordan-Marsh Holiday Event.” But the lettering and carving look very old, possibly by thousands of years.

Symon notices that some of the rock here contains traces of copper.
