Field of Daisies (a Harnic RPG)

You have to touch him. And you need some peace and quiet to do so.

Symon drops the chest down the chimney and jumps after it trying to distract the lizard from Ingmar. He draws his dagger and mainly tries to dodge around and annoy the critter until someone who can kill it joins in.

OK, you’re doing that.

I’m going to assume that Ingmar will axe it a question. He swings low and manages to catch a piece of it. Between that and your annoying dance, you manage to chase it off. You don’t know how far away it went (you can’t see without crouching down), but it doesn’t sound like it was very far.

I’ll drop down as soon as possible as well.

There’s not much room left in the hole. There are already two men and a chest there. Someone will need to crawl through to the other side in order to make room. (And where will the torch be when that happens?)

Since Ingmar is hurt I’ll go. I’ve got a second torch so I’ll light that so there will still be light for the others to climb down with but I’ll leave the chest for someone else to bring along.

I might as well have the chest if I can, since I’m about the least useful in a fight.

OK, Symon, you start to crawl through. Just as you do, your little friend tries to take a nip at your face. Someone with slower reflexes would have gotten a nasty bite. You are able to pull back, but not without getting a little bite to your neck. Your armor protects you.

(Sorry guys, I only have time really to check this site about 1-2x a day).

Ingmar is hurt, but will carry on and hopefully once they are in a quiet place/out of the cave, he can get some healing. Until then he will follow along with the others.

Sounds good.

So that basic challenge you are now facing is that to get out of here, you have to make yourself very vulnerable to the creature.

I’m still the best bet. I’ll try again just trying to get past the critter so I can make some room for others to get through.

Using your impressive dodge skill, no doubt? Will you be doing anything with either your dagger or torch as you pass through?

I’ll use the dagger to try and clear a little space and the torch is so I can see where the attack is coming from and hopefully dodge it easier. I’m mainly trying to get through so the real fighters can get out without problems.

You crawl in and immediately get attacked. You get all stabby with it and manage to injure it a bit, but then it counterattacks and gets on your face. It tries to eat your left eyeball but inflicts only minor damage. You pull it off of you and toss it back into the cave a little. Then your try your best to scramble through the hole. You make it through and onto your feet. You’re now squared off with the creature.

Great just what I always wanted

I’m going to just try and dance with it and distract it so the others can crawl through unmolested mainly focusing on not taking any more damage.

I’m going to try to get through as quickly as possible.

I’ll let the fighters go ahead of me and then I’ll follow to assist them.

(Something tells me my powers of singing and rhetoric aren’t going to be too effective against this thing. And I highly doubt it’s interested in trading.)

I’ll check behind to be sure it’s still quiet there. If it is, then:

“Coming through!”

As soon as there’s room, I’ll more forward as fast as I can.

We’re going to break this up into rounds of 10 seconds each. During each round you may:

*Engage in combat, which includes 1 attack, 1 defense, or a number of other options such as engaging, disengaging, etc.

*Crawling through the hole. This will involve a dice roll, but an easy one.

*Jumping or climbing down the chimney, also involves an easy roll.

*Casting a spell or ritual, most of which take more than one round.

*Whatever else you may want to do.

We’ll start each round with the combat. The critter always gets initiative. Symon, it leaps at your face. You dodge successfully. You stab back at it. You fail to connect.

Eren, you extreme master of caving, you shoot through the hole like a wet bar of soap through a clenched fist. You are up and ready for whatever action you want to take next round.

Brunis, Eren goes through so quickly that you can get in there ASAP. And… your armor gets snagged on a rocky protrusion. Try unsticking yourself next round.

Cella, Ingmar, Gered? Waiting to jump down? Looking backwards for signs of a threat? Protecting the boy?

I would say put the boy second to last, with Ingmar bringing up the rear. I’ll be waiting to jump down, and Cella can follow me.
