First two episodes available now. I enjoyed them, look forward to more (though the six-eyed alien is already getting really old.) The style of humor makes me think of a bit of a cross between Futurama and Star vs. the Forces of Evil.
DUDE!!! Just found this entire first season on Netflix “international” (set your VPN to not USA). This really deserves some praise! Excellent animation, story, and is the best cartoon I’ve seen since Rick and Morty! Great voice acting and with each episode around 20 minutes, easily binged! Dopers, I’m telling you…watch this!
Loved it, can’t wait for more.
You mean–it wasn’t all in my head!
…I didn’t think I was going to like it at all.
Gary Goodspeed IS NOT the kind of character I normally like. I hate smartarses like him.
But there was a moment in the first episode that made me flip. When he goes to rescue Mooncake, and he is given a choice: let Mooncake die and he will survive, or try and rescue Mooncake even though it would probably result in his own death.
And he picks Mooncake.
Not because he thinks he actually has a chance of beating the odds. But because in his heart he is not the kind of person who gives up on his friends. No matter what. Its not something he aspires too. Its part of his DNA.
So Gary Goodspeed won me over. I love Final Space.
Then I watched some of the behind the scenes videos.
And I realized that the creator and showrunner, Olan Rogers, **is **Gary Goodspeed. Holy crap. It would be good to be his friend.
I compare this to Matt Groening’s latest effort Disenchantment and the differences couldn’t be more stark. Disenchantment is tired and lazy (IMHO). I struggled through the first episode of that Disenchantment and didn’t bother with the rest. Its good to see fresh blood like Olan Rogers making stuff, and seeing networks like TBS (and international distributor Netflix) give new guys a chance.
I just accidentally stumbled into the fact that season 2 has started and is 6 episodes in. Really snuck up on me.
Disenchantment gets much better than its first episode.
No it doesn’t. Struggled, really, really struggled, to get thru about 7 episodes. No, it doesn’t get better. If anything the first episode was the “best” of the ones I watched.
I disagree. A lot.
Loved it, cant wait for Season 2 to drop on Netflix Germany.
I loved this too even though the humor was hit and miss, the story was interesting enough to keep me hooked. Chookity pok!
