Finding message board threads.

This is different than Chronos’ thread.

I see people being encouraged to do a search because it’s already been discussed in a previous thread.

Lately, I’ve been learning how to post and reply better, i.e., a firm understanding of vB code and whatnot (I’ve been nailed on this more than once.).

Now, I’m getting better at posting but still stink at trying to find old posts, or recent posts for that matter.

The problem is, I type in a search for the topic I’m thinking about and get back reams of threads that are not even close to my original search criteria. I know how to refine the searches down to key terms, but I still get back pages of threads. Unless I know the poster or the exact title of the thread, how am I supposed to find it relatively quickly? Is there a technique I’m missing? Or do the others have to wade through the pages like I’ve had to do?

Again, thanks for your help.
Chris

I’m afraid our search engine sieves pretty large.

I’ve found what works best is to try to think of something about what I’m looking for that is so unique to the situation (name of the poster, relevant information) that the search engine isolates somewhat. It’s not always easy to find that unique qualifier, so when I can’t, I do just what you do, look and look and look.

Sorry.
