I didn’t need to say that twice, I just kept getting an error message.
You are a big dman baby…worse than me and that’s saying a lot.
Surely the rest of the teeming millions are getting a big damn giggle out of this.
Whine, Whine, Whine…you are worse than I am…so sad…
Ya WUSS.
Bye, at least I have staying power despite my whiney so-called departures.
Fer God’s Sake, for a woman that is reportedly in her 50s you’d think you’d have more of a back bone.
Where’s the pukey emoticon?
er DAMN…stupid preview didn’t even net me that correction.
In either case…she can go take her little temper tantrum and go to hell…that’s my arena, not hers, damnit.
Bitch.
Ta-ta!
I am starting to wonder if this is how she leaves every situation.
Ladyrose at the deli
Ladyrose: HELLO! I am Ladyrose! I like to talk in the third person!
Counter Guy: Umm, ok. What would you like?
Ladyrose: Ladyrose would like some spiced ham!
Ladyrose reaches over the counter and pokes the ham
Counter Guy: Ma’am. Store policy states Do Not Touch the Food
Ladyrose: Too many rules! Ladyrose is leaving!
Ladyrose dramatically flounces two steps towards the door, then turns around and goes back to the counter
Counter Guy slices the ham and hands it over
Counter Guy: Anything else?
Ladyrose: Ladyrose needs mustard potato salad!
Ladyrose goes behind the counter and dips her toes in the potato salad
Counter Guy: MA’AM, DON’T TOUCH THE FOOD.
Ladyrose: All these rules make Ladyrose a sad panda! Ladyrose is really leaving now!
Ladyrose does another round of the dramatic 'walk two steps and then turn right around
You don’t want to know what happens to the salami…
You know, at some point these repeated “leaving” threads have got to be a clear violation of “Don’t be a jerk.”
Let’s make sure we’re all following this clearly. Here is LadyRose threatening to leave for, if I recall, the second time. Here’s the saga so far for those not following:
Referring to this.
referring to this.
Referring to this. (In all fairness she didn’t do it again, but then it is sort of a one trick pony.)
This and this are glurge so we’re not counting that, until we find a copyright, but we’ll leave that alone…
Of course there was this:
For this.
While I was searching, I checked this and found this.
What say ye fellas? I vote we make sure the door is locked this time. Plagiarism pisses me off.

On that last one, BTW. Go ahead Ask Philippa if she minds…
It really bugs me because going on a message board for a popular question and answer column and posting the work of another author from another question and answer column takes stones LadyRose. If you don’t realise that at your age, there’s something wrong with you.
With all the plagiarism that she did, are we sure she didn’t stealthe car too? :dubious:
Sorry - couldn’t resist.
Ok, for some reason that caught me as being particularly funny at that moment. As pissed as I was, it was very welcomed.
Thanks, DeVena!
Oh, and don’t forget, © DeVena
I think she apparently follows that toddler rule – you know, the one that says, “What’s mine is mine. What’s yours is mine, too.”
It’s really not all that hard to follow the rules around here, Ladyrose. If you haven’t written the words yourself as an original work, (1) only quote a snippet to get people interested, (2) give the real author credit, and (3) link to the original source. If you don’t know how to link to stuff, guess what? Click on the little “vB code” link at the bottom of every page and it will tell you exactly how to do it.
Sheesh. I don’t think this place is for you.
Let’s not be mean. I know it’s exasperating to explain that posting copyrighted material in its entirety, or posting bits of it without accrediting it to the author, is a violation of civil law and opens the owners of the forum to civil suits; but some people think that anything on the internet is free for public use. I can understand how people could think that. I mean, everything is there in a few mouse clicks. The reader doesn’t have to pay for it, unlike a book or a DVD. “If it’s on the internet, I can do what I want with it!”
But internet content is copyrighted just as a printed manuscript is. The ease of finding things on the net and the fact that most of it is free for the reading tends to confuse some people about how it can be used. These people know that they cannot type up the entire Harry Potter series and put their name on it as the author. But for some reason they can’t grasp that doing the same on the internet is equally wrong.
These people must be educated, not ridiculed. After all, that’s what these boards are all about: fighting ignorance. IMO a moderator should have established an e-mail dialog with Ladyrose to make sure she understood exactly what she was doing wrong. From her posts, it looks as if she still doesn’t know that she was violating copyright laws. This would require extra work for the mods, but it would have helped someone too.
I understand why everyone is pissed off. I get pissed off when someone doesn’t understand things that I explain to them too. But there’s no reason to be mean.
No offence Johnny, but the Mods have been having a “dialogue” with her, and it doesn’t seem to be having the effect desired. She’s also posted an “I’m sorry” thread where this was clearly explained, and she did it once again after that with the question and answer thread.
She gets the concept of Copyright Laws plainly enough from what I can see, she just doesn’t get that this isn’t just a message board policy that she’s repeatedly violated, but she’s also breaking laws with her actions as well.
It may seem like a minor infraction on a message board, but it can seriously hurt the authors of the works to have their work bandied about without credit. Some of these people make their living with their columns and little feel good poems.
FTR, I’m not trying to be mean, I’m trying to explain that while this pisses some people right off, myself included, that’s not the reason for her getting in trouble so often. Let’s be honest here, if it was shoplifting how many chances would she get to figure out that it’s stealing?
She’s leaving AGAIN?! Stay or go! Make up your mind! But stop posting that you’re leaving!
I agree, Johnny, though it seemed to be explained to her time and again that you musn’t post anyone else’s work in it’s entirety even with proper attribution. In her original “Hmph! I’m leaving thread!” (before the thread turned to “whoring”) a few people, like Steelerplan did make it clear that you should link to outside content with your own original comments in the OP.
It’s clear that she doesn’t understand that online content is still copyrighted even though the “camping story” OP showed an attempt at being more careful.
However, she also just does not seem to be paying attention to the SDMB rules and repeated cautions not to re-post entire works, which she kept on doing.
She was referred to the SDMB rules and guidelines, but still managed to post a jack-in-the-box. If she went over the rules and still needed sometihng clarified, there is a whole forum in which she could have asked, or she could have e-mailed a mod.
As Copa pointed out above, even a general OP (like the last one Copa linked to) was not original and contained no original material. It would have been easy enough to just write: “I found this interesting…<LINK>… I have these comments… What do you all think?”
Instead the feel-good OP was copied in its entirety from an outside source and re-posted here, and that just makes all of her OP’s suspect.
I was hoping that her “I’m sorry, I’ll be more careful” OP was a good sign (and I thought other Dopers should have been more gracious in accepting the apology), and I was actually glad to see her return with a fresh OP that looked to be her own.
My guess is that Ladyrose is not just a SDMB newbie, but is new to the 'net as well. Her gaffes are consistent with someone who is excited about this whole new world (hence the jack-in-the-box: a new discovery worth sharing!) She needs a course on netiquette and “acceptable use” that is beyond the scope of the SDMB, I’m afraid.
And after all the pre-whoring “just leave, you don’t need to announce it” responses of her first “goodbye” thread, you’d figured she wouldn’t have gone and done this one.
… I wrote “musn’t” ?
My experience with her is that she’s rude off of SDMB as well.
I IM’d her inviting her to Portland Dopefest, figuring she was new, she’d be shy yada yada. I got back an IM saying “I don’t do that kind of thing. I am older thn you.” Sheesh… I thought that too old stuff was left behind when we all left the playground.
For the record I am 38 and her info said early 50s( not to be rude and tell her age) Nice to know someone thinks I am too young!
Anyway I don’t think she’ll be missed. So lets all talk among ourselves…
She got a personal invite to a Dopefest and turned it down???!!! Howw…that’s…I just…OOOOOOOOOOHHH, now I’m too annoyed to be coherent. (not that I’m ordinarily coherent anyway.) Hell, I’d be ecstatic just to have one in my area that I could crash, much less get an invitation to.
