And you know, having checked Finn’s links, every single one of them is to some crazy conspiracy theory type website, all of which claim to be the only place with the real facts (or wikipedia). Or even worse, his cites are to his own posts. You know, I can show you a bunch of website containing the “real facts” on the moon landing, evolution, the jewish conspiracy behind 9/11, and pretty much anything else.
I thought Finnagain was just a blowhard who couldn’t let something go, but it’s deeper than that. He’s actively a nutjob, earnestly arguing the obvious facts, just like the fact that the income tax amendment was never ratified by all the states and that the fringe on the flag indicated the New World Order is in power. If he believes all his own stuff, he’s headed for the loony bin; if he doesn’t he’s engaged in the type of lying he keeps yelling at others about.

Or, really surprise me and address the lies that I’ve cited, and quoted, that are clearly and unambiguous fictions that Carter uses to prop up his narrative. Explain how someone, who should know better, routinely and repeatedly makes the same sort of ‘factual errors’ that the basest bit of good faith research would clear up. Explain how all of those ‘factual errors’, without fail, serve to demonize Israel and distort the actual facts to make it look like Israel is a warmongering aggressor which has refused every chance at peace.
Explain, then, why Carter lies quite so often, why he takes Hamas at their word and has served as a spokesman for them, even while their own announcements at the exact same time falsified his claims. Explain why he distorts the facts or lies about them but repeats fictions as if true. Explain why all of them just-so-happen to support his narrative of “Israel evil Palestinians blameless and want peace.” Then explain why lying to support an agenda that shows you are obstinately dedicated to your opinions and prejudices against a nation is not the very denotation of “bigot”. Go for it. That is, if you have a point rather than ignorant spew and indignation.

-You show how Carter so continually makes ‘factual errors’ that are so very easy to correct. Some of which he knew weren’t true at the same time he said them. Exlain how they are honest, good faith mistakes and not lies.
-If you cannot do that, explain how his lies all, and without exception, go to prop up his narrative that Israel is a warmongering aggressor that wasn’t nothing to do with peace, and the lies do so innocently and by coincidence.
-If you cannot do that, explain why his agenda-driven lies, that evince a desire to repeat Hamas fictions even when he knows they are untrue and to lie about Israel in order to demonize them, don’t demonstrate that he is obstinately and intolerantly dedicated to his opinions and prejudices, and they are all against Israel, and thus he is bigoted against Israel and uses lies to support his bigotry.
Come on, this is not difficult. Support your argument. Mine fits together from facts that you are evidently unable or unwilling to rebut (because they’re accurate) and logic that is sound and valid and you are unable or unwilling to address, which is why you keep trying to change the subject.
At least try to argue honestly and intelligently.

You do realize that Elvis is wrong on the facts? That he’s arguing dishonestly (for days now he’s been unable to provide a simple quote that he claims actually exists), he’s lied about claims I made WRT Carter, and he’s simply trying to avoid the issue of what Carter’s lies are, and why Carter lies quite so often and always to support a certain narrative?
Do you give a damn, at all, about honesty, integrity, accuracy, truthfulness… or are you just showing some partisan colors and hopping to Elvis’ defense, regardless of his conduct, since he’s gnawing on my ankles?
As stated in the other thread, I assume that his motive is to do good, based on his religion. This is in part speculation; it is based on three factors:
His evidently sincere religiousity;
His consistent bias and distortion of basic facts; and
His recorded statements, such as in his interview with Golda.
Unfortunately, that religion accords a rather unique status to Israel - it is not to be judged as other nations are, but against a Biblical template: faults committed by Israelis (such as being excessively secular), according to Carter, are liable to call down the wrath of God - as he said to Golda Mier when he met her.
In short, his motives appear to be a mirror image to those of the Christian Zionists. This isn’t something unique to Christians BTW - some religious Jews feel exactly the same way about Israel: it can do no right in their eyes.
This has led him to exaggerate Israeli faults and to willfully blind to the faults of Israel’s opponents. Step by step, over the course of years, this has led him to have a rather distorted view of the facts - a factor not helped by the fact that there are many folks who, from motives entirely different, are willing to support and applaud his statements.
A formerly respected (by some) leader drifting into a distorted and deluded view of the facts to support preconceived notions isn’t a unique occurance in history.
