<cranks up the Oingo Boingo> It’s a dead man’s party…
Need help finding them?
Unrelated to either of those… I have a new winner in the “Most horrid excuse for a PC”
Drumroll…
My neighbor’s PC is so clogged up with whatever, and it’s so underpowered that it took half an hour just to get Housecall started, and its initial estimate for completion was eleven DAYS. After about 15 minutes, it re-calculated and was down to 9 hours. For comparison, this machine started with an estimate of two hours and soon re-calculated to 22 minutes.
At one point, I did something to trigger a screen refresh, and it was so weird to watch the thing paint line by line - took about 20 seconds to refresh the screen.
Not much to report, I have photos to share, but it is a beautiful morning on the emerald isle, and I am going out with my friend Cat to dig wildflowers to transplant in the yard, and to pick berries. As I am the gimp I get to have bear watch while she picks berries in the underbrush…you know, where the bears like to nap during the day. I am taking my camera, so if we don’t get eaten, I will be back sometime soon to share.
Been busy, having a good summer, taking a bit of a hiatus from the computer. But I knew this was an important week.
My love to all big hugs and kissies and everyone get ready for the first weekend in August!
Hooray for you, too, Spaz. And **rosie **too. I just haven’t been around and/or remembering all of the comments that I wanted to make.
No thanks, gotti. It’s taken me waaaay to long to get this far. I don’t want any of them back.
If you don’t get back soon, kai, we’re sending out a rescue team.
I am presently making a grocery list with every edible frozen President’s Choice product there is. Do you have PC in the States? It’s a sort of Trader Joe-ish line of foods. Anyway, so far it’s three types of pizza, mushroom lasagna, and frozen chicken and vegetable pies. Mr. Lissar and Attacks Husband get to make and freeze chicken cacciatore and butter chicken over the weekend. They don’t know yet. Oh, and Muppet, dulce de leche cheesecake is on sale.
You know, I should never be allowed to do the food shopping.
Dryer Man is here!! YAY!! He’s replacing the control board. He saw the burned-out element on the old board, so this should take care of things. Finally. Yay.
**FCD **and daughter just headed to Lowe’s. In my car. Funny how that happens. OK Sears Guy blocked FCD’s car in, but still - MY CAR!
I went downstairs with Dryer Man, and while he did whatever it is he does, I started gathering my tools for class tomorrow, and I checked on the stuff in my damp cabinet. It wasn’t all that damp - I had to spray down several pieces. Plus one cat lost its tail, so I had to reattach it. Hope it holds. Otherwise, my sister is getting a manx.
Dunno what to do for dinner tonight. We have corn on the cob. But we really need some sort of protein matter. Cheese? oh - wait - mac-n-cheese! That’s healthy, right? Mac-n-cheese-n-Amish Corn?? Yum!
Hi y’all! Mr Rebo said the interview was great! He got there early, and they talked about 45 minutes.
—Oh jeez— the phone just rang and we thought it might be them! It was another company.
Anyway, the guy had one more interview at 2:30 (it’s 3:30 right now) and he said he might send him to get his drug test today or Monday - like Mr Rebo was the one getting picked. It’s nerve-wracking waiting like this.
Mr Rebo has a qualification that (it seemed) the first interviewee didn’t have - an endorsement for delivering to the Port of Houston - it’s sort of new in the last year or so. It’s an anti-terrorist type requirement. The money’s ok, the hours are good, the commute is great…
I’m rambling. This is gonna be a long weekend if we don’t hear something by 5:00.
I didn’t know Bobbio was dead. I NEVER get these memos!
I am back from the Museum of Science and Industry with the family. We were supposed to go see the Harry Potter exhibit, but I thought TH had gotten the tix and he thought I had–we are both to blame for this cock up–we didn’t even check with one another. :smack: So, we just went to the museum.
never again. I LIKE children and it was too much. I have rarely seen so many poorly behaved, obnoxious kids in one place, complete with obnoxious parents. It is LOUD, hot and crowded–the layout of that place is Byzantine.
I will be making plans to go to the HP only evening show soon. It looks neat and while I’m not an insane HP fan, I’d rather see it then miss it.
Other than that, it’s been a day of nothing. I did some major gardening yesterday and my muscles are sore today.
Congrats, ABP on your loss! That is incredible and wonderful!
**Pie, **many congrats on your weight loss. That is something to be proud of and I know what hard work it is too.
Keeping my fingers crossed for Mr. Rebo.
I am sitting here enjoying a nice, frosty pina colada. I deserve it. I came home to an e-mail from the company I used to take me to and from the airport. It seems my credit card had declined. Well, DUH! It’s a government travel card and it’s only turned on while I’m on TDY. I was TDY from the 20th through the 24th. My card was turned off on the 26th. The shuttle company didn’t try to run my card until the 28th. So, I got that squared away with them. I was compensated on my travel voucher for the shuttle service, so I ended up using my personal card.
They are forwarding my complaint though. I told them that waiting to scan a card for eight days was not acceptable. A great many of us fed employees use their services, so it behooves them to get things right. I’ve never had a problem with them before, so I was shocked to see this.
I may be making a run to the butcher shop. A ribeye steak would be mighty tasty today.
Hee, that’s one of the funniest typos we’ve had in a while.
Yay! It’s kai!
Yeah, I can imagine the museum could be stressful. When I went a couple of years ago, it wasn’t too bad, but school had already started, so there weren’t too many kids.
Appendages crossed for Mr. Rebo.
Gotta go get a holster for the new phone…guess I’ll wander over to Target.
