For people who like ridiculous heat in the MMP

It was Bob Marley Day at the the Hub, because everything be jammin’. But things were calm enough I could duck into Harris Teeter after my shift, without setting off the biohazard sensors. I also had a couple hours of thunderstorms this afternoon.

shoe, yay for Pretzel!

Sorry about your friend, Flyboy.

Jack, glad it wasn’t anybody you knrew. Awful for that person’s family, though.
But “Pulled Hot Buffalo Chicken Teriyaki You A New Asshole Sandwiches” sounds like my kind of sandwich.

I’ve heard this from more than one person… :anguished:

… if we ever build that Mumper Neighborhood, this is what the food trucks will trundle around.

I just tried to say the whole thing out loud and gave up after dissolving into giggles. Now Nikki is staring at me with that disapproving gaze cats have.

I don’t care. Friend of mine came by and we hugged, repeatedly she needed some Girl Talk time, and I was happy to oblige, because yayay human social interaction. Also in other news, boys are kinda gross, and wowwee do we both need to get laid. These are diametrically opposed conclusions. We know.

ETA omg it’s RAINING 'scuse me, imma go sit outside.

ETA II thunderboomers!

Howdy Y’all! Today we accomplished laundry and the makeage and eatage of tacos. OLÈ! The pace of life at da cave is a whirlwind! See Thel you ain’t the only one!

Bats awful about the person and the shark but glad it’s no one you know at least. Excellent sammich name!

Flyboy sorry about your co-irkers half-sister.

It’s been rainy off and on so part of the day we sat on the back porch enjoyin’ a couple of beerverages and watchin’ and listenin’ to it rain. We’re good at this retirement thing!

Thanks for the nice “Atta’girls” about Pretzel. I will post a non scary photo of her, that non-snek ppl will hopefully find non-threatening.

In the meantime, I still can’t stop laughing myself silly at pouring an entire bottle of Frank’s Red sauce into the slow cooker. @Jack_Batty I’m sorry. Bless your sweet little ol’ heart. In between giggles, I truly hope your butthole recovers.

Actually, it’s not bad. I’ve got two tubs sitting in the fridge that I think I’m going to use for some sort of burrito concoction. If it sails … I hit the food truck circuit.

I didn’t do anything today. I did cook up some little Cornish game hens and other stuff and cleaned after and I did change the bed and wash all the stuff but I didn’t do any irk irk.

I need to go to irk tomorrow and pick up the 15 contactless thermometers I purchased for the department and if I feel like being nice I can deliver them to various places that need them or I could just get mine and leave the rest at admin and let folks fend for themselves. I will ponder that one in the AM.

Tomorrow is maid day. Hubs has a doctor appt in Miami with the regular cardiologist. He has a buddy going with him. I thought I was gonna have to go but got out of it. He could go alone I suppose but it is nice to have someone to talk with for those 6 hours total of driving/riding.

Looks like we are in for some rain later this week, again. I say bring it.

Everyone have a great new week. Oh, today is Tuesday? Have a great rest of the week.

When I was young I liked the summer heat. When it was so hot it took your breath away a little when you stepped outside. The older I get the less I like it, just like I like the extreme cold less every year. The year we tied the all time high temp, 2006, 106 degrees, I was living in a house with no AC, just fans in the windows. I don’t recall being too miserable, just that it was so dang dry too. My lawn was just brown, dry , dead looking grass except for some extremely hardy weeds that managed to keep growing.

I learned something today:

Both of these sausages are made from pork livers and are typically combined with spices to give them additional flavor. … The main difference between liverwurst (a general term for liver sausage) and braunschweiger is the fact that braunschweiger is usually smoked and liverwurst is not.

OK, thunderage continues - enough to wake and frighten Roxy. I am about to wander to bed. I’s tahred.

The key to the minimal discomfort was the dryness. Try 106 with 70% humidity and window fans just wouldn’t cut it.

Yup. Poor ol’ Bezos, my data-mining “Ask Google” queries are an endless succession of “What’s the weather,” and “What’s the humidity,” and “What’s the humidity tomorrow,” broken up with occasional requests to run a timer or alarm.

It was 120F in Riyadh yesterday, only 103F here. But here we got the humidity.

i talked myself into walking to the store to get fresh produce. Two miles round trip of sunshine and low eighties temps after a 2.5 mile walk this morning, and I’m tired and very sweaty. I. Hate. Heat.

Hm, so my family was incorrect in calling braunsweiger “liver sausage.” Since nothing was ever labeled “liver sausage,” I’m guessing it’s pretty rare. MetalMouse is the first person I’ve heard calling it “Braunsweiger.” I guess in my Chicagoland neighborhood we thought “Braunsweiger” was the fancy name, like how the packages say “bologna,” but everyone says, “baloney.”

I need to take another shower, then figure out dinner.

I try to spread happiness, where ever I go.

Allie yells at me (she’s a Siamese mix). She’s been rather clingy the last few days, and seemed to be trying for injury when DH and I got home, what with ducking into my path as I was walking and getting a paw slightly stepped on (she’s not limping, so no apparent injury), and turned her head as I was petting her just right to get an eye poked a little (no damaged, I checked).

@FairyChatMom, in my area, Raley’s is a rather pricey grocery store.

I do NOT approve of triple-digit heat! I think over 80F is pushing it.

OMG, the callers today! Over 45 minutes with one guy because I couldn’t keep him on track to save our lives, and I found myself wondering what he might be on. Lots of ramblers. I get that people are getting a bit lonely from isolation, but just because that voice on the phone sounds pleasant and helpful does not mean the owner of said voice is your new BFF. She/he has other callers to help, too. BTW, if you think Youtube or Yahoo are web browsers, maybe you shouldn’t try to use websites without someone with a clue physically present to help you. There is only so much a voice on the phone can do in this situation.

Miniature Emperor catered tonight. The Pizza Portal is fun. Order from your phone, arrive, punch code into device, door opens to give you your food.

At 2220 it’s still 82 out, heat index 85, with a predicted low of 68. We didn’t get any rain, let alone thorms, and they’re now saying mostly cloudy tonight and mostly NOS tomorrow. I’ve long wished I could just crawl into a cool dark place and hibernate through the summer. However, Lady SCAdian and the housemate just returned with three A/Cs that a friend of the housemate was getting rid of, and one of them has been installed in the window on my side of the bed.

Bats, that sammich sounds like something my daughter would love. I remember the time she tried something Thai-ish and said, “It’s weird. It’s almost too hot for me to eat!”

Got caught up on The Whiteboard, Freefall, and Darths & Droids, and that’s about the only thing I accomplished today. Couldn’t concentrate on my ILL, so it will go back to the library only partially read. Next up are a Misty Lackey book with John and Mary Watson, masters of elemental magic, as secondary characters (Holmes is still in hiding, waiting for the rest of Moriarty’s gang to be picked up) and a book about the “Rochambelles”, an all-women group of ambulance drivers who served with the French 2nd Armoured Division in North Africa and Europe in WW II.

Those like me who hate heat would not like Baghdad today. Accuweather claims they hit 124F today.

Evening all. Performed nappage this afternoon, but the rain never showed up (never fear, there is 60-80% chance of rain through Friday). Mac-n-Cheese for dinner.

Nettie, just remember, the IQ average is 100…some above and some below…

Herald, you a fan of The Whiteboard too? I’m working my way through the Freefall archives, watching Florence develop is enjoyable. Sam however is getting somewhat boring, but I’m only at strip 2,288.

nellie, the Oscar Mayer package always said Braunsweiger in large letters and underneath it in smaller letters said ‘a liver sausage’. So I grew up knowing it by the big name. Hope your not aching too bad from all the walking.

Jack Bats, let us know how your food concoction works it’s way out…(wink, wink)

purp, glad you were able to get together with friend. Most of mine are long distance on Facebook (and here).

Thel/nellie, my mom and dad had each other, and dad went into long-term care (isn’t that what we call nursing homes now?) before he got bad, but I did sponsor a life alert for my uncle’s wife after he passed away. She was in her 80’s but still quite alert and always showed off how she checked in when I came to visit.

FCM, never expected you too, just having a bit of fun…

OK, need to look to getting ready for bed (who am I kidding, I land in the bed and turn out the light, 5-8 seconds tops). Take care all.

If I understand the theory of averages, average IQ is 100. Theoretically, half are above, half below. I am not meeting enough of the half above. Where are they hiding?

That’s why my toes curled with delight when I found SD and Mumpers. Now all I have to do is keep the iPad charged so I can get my MDA of SD & y’all. An IT hardware consult may be required for enough battery life. Fortunately I gave birth to one of those but he usually :rolls his eyes: when I ask him something. He lives a thousand miles away now but I can still feel those hazel eyes sprain themselves in their sockets, plus the huge sigh “mom…”. Forget it, I’ll just ask one of you.

As threatened, Chinese takeout feast for lunch. Leftover stashed for repeat treat tomorrow.

I will try to be more accomplished tomorrow, but no promises. My big goal for Hump Day is to put together in my room an antique cast iron nun’s bed that is sitting in pieces on my front porch. Bought it from a SIL’s convent when they downsized-it had been her’s as a novice in 1962. 30 years ago refinished it for my only daughter kidlet. Needless to say, she did not go on to become a nun (good thing or I would be short my only COMU), so now I get the bed AND the COMU. What a deal!

Good night. Sleep tight.

Well since it’s after midnight I want to be the first one to say Happy Birthday Swampy. I hope you have a great day!
