Happy swampy day!
T’was nice and sunny here earlier- not too hot, just pleasant, so I checked on the then went walkies for most of the afternoon. Had to fill up the car as well, for only the second time since March.
I am a fan of the chilli-type heat, if not the sun kind. I think the only time I’ve ever actually just had to give up was (pre-vegetarianism) halfway through a bowl of Tom Yam soup in Malaysia. It did taste pretty amazing until my tongue melted though. It’s one of the things I really miss moving down here from Bristol; the lack of hot spicy food. In fact, it’s actually ruining my chilli tolerance, as I’ve found when I go to a proper Indian place now.
We had the opposite issue with my Grandpa when he got one of those emergency buttons- I think the incident when he pressed and called my sorta-cousin at 2 in the freaking morning because he couldn’t find a pair of trousers he wanted to wear the next day was the most entertaining (if not for my sorta-cousin).
My parents had to take the mobility scooter off him as well, after the second time he’d been brought back by the police for driving it down the centre of a busy multi-lane road without a care in the world…
All it takes is one Grapist to spoil it for everyone else.
Happy Birthday, Swampy!!!
Now get offen my lawn, you young whippersnapper!
Hey! It Worked!
It’s another day in paradise. 79F, headed for 99F, or so ‘they’ say.
Don’t know what’s on the agenda for today. I’ve got a couple of outdoor projects, but I don’t feel like starting something that could take 2 or 3 hours out there.
Later.
Besides, the Marine dress uniform is more more impressive than a cassock and collar…boring. Doesn’t get much smarter looking than a marching Marine.
And we all are so glad they did:ring:!!
I learn something from you every time>Thank you you da best!
COMU=center of my universe (grand kid Harriet, circa July 2017, need I say she is above average?). Cribbed the acronym from other Mumper-think theirs is COTU, center of the universe.
Morning all Yeah, I know it is after noon-what of it? It’s dawn somewhere
*I know I didn’t do the quoting on these all right, but I’m trying. I have high ambitions, but my learning curve is steep. Extra credit for effort?
It’s pretty weird looking at pictures of my dad in his priest-in-training getup! And not just because he was so skinny back then - it’s the whole cassock and collar thing.
I made a run to Food Lion and the Amish market and the deli. We’re doing burgers for supper, so I needed buns and slaw, plus I got 'maters and cukes (which are now in cuke salad.) FCD wants steak fries for supper, so I got a bag of them, too. Our healthy side will be green beans-onions-mushrooms in oyster sauce.
So I don’t have to do anything else till suppertime! Yay!
Happy Swampy Day!
Went to the office for the weekly visit and finally had sushi after (counts on fingers) 5 months. Did I mention how much I like going to restaurants for lunch?
Supposedly the accuracy of weather forecasts have decreased because there are fewer planes flying and recording data. At least that’s my coworker says.
Had lots of thunderboomers yesterday. My coworker went to a pool party where the pool part had to be canceled. He was rather disappointed that he didn’t get to play with the new pool toys.
Dinner was fancy cheese and salad. Dessert is mincemeat slice. Why? Because it expired in June and it’s past time to use it up.
Might be a slug or two of alcohol in my future. Already can’t type, so I might as well have something to blame it on.
(Laptop is balanced on my knee and so typing is a bit difficult.)
Intriguing question. My big brother is a rocket scientist (actually a nuclear physicist, but close enough-I can’t even long divide) so I asked him. He’s also a volunteer NOAA weather observer in his spare time. I have the best, most fun big brother in the world.
“There is a significant element of truth. Airliners are equipped to accurately measure their geographic location, altitude, wind velocity (both speed and direction), density/pressure and humidity. These data are necessary to the airline to efficiently fly their route. The airlines generally provide those data to NOAA.”
So your coworker is right.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWAMPY!
SO GLAD YOU GOT YOURSELF BORNED!
(Wish I could do the big text thing. Doesn’t seem to work on my Mac, or else I’m an idiot. Also, that guy at the end is supposed to be dancing. Too much starch in his shorts, I guess.)
I got up early and walked 1.5 miles to the ta-ta tortilla press, as I had an appointment. Turned out there was some mix-up (their end), so I had to reschedule. I’m not unhappy. Nobody says, “Yippee! Mammogram day!” Then I got a phone call from a dear friend. So nice to catch up.
Thel, that poem would do for dogs, too. My dear departed lab would push me to the edge of the double bed. She’d sleep with her legs straight out. Years ago I had a dog who’d sleep on his back with all four legs in the air. Critters are strange, though not as strange as humans.
Hope you have a better night tonight and your mood improves. The news can be especially hard on us empathetic types. Watch some funny youtube videos. Michael McIntyre always cracks me up.
Sari, I have that box of orphaned cords, too. I’m afraid I’ll throw 'em out and six months later find I needed one for that thingamajig I want to use.
nut, your grandfather stories gave me a smile.
I wanted to be a nun for about 5 minutes. I was intrigued by the habit, but not as intrigued as I was by boys.
Howdy Y’all! Thanks again for the bday wishes. I feel so special! We had a late N.O.L./early sup (just got back actually) which I enjoyed muchly. I et some liver 'n onions which squicks OYKW out but I love, so win-win!
So true. I know that they think know we hoomans are strange. But they love us anyway, God bless 'em.
Geez, I send out data reminders, and now people are sending me irk!
Afternoon all. Made a trip to the Wal-Mart for a couple of items (100% mask compliance there) and ended up with another big (23 oz) jug of Cheese Balls. I don’t need them they aren’t good for me…and I’ll just have to hope one day they move them out of my sight . Cloudy but no rain yet, 88F.
Never wanted to be a priest as far as I can remember.
Boo, thanks for both the COMU reference and the weather prediction info from DieC. Weather Undergorund sez 90% chance tomorrow of heavy rain and tunder-boomers…we’ll see if they got it right.
FCM, thanks for having hamburgers, it reminded me to take my burger out of the freezer for tomorrow’s meal.
Nut, you all go ahead and eat that hot stuff, you can have my share since I’m the blandest eater in the Northern Hemisphere.
Sari, my collection is in a cabinet above the washer/dryer. I can usually find what I need, getting it untangled is another thing…
And for the record, I am 67 years, 3 months, and 9 days old, so you youngn’s better behave…
Take care all.
HAPPY BD TO SWAMPY!
DQ cake works for me! I’ll be by later this evening.

Oh, bother! *
Moooom , the tags for big text are < big> and < /big>. < small> and < /small> are the opposite. The “big” tags can only be used once, but “small” can be used moe than once to make even smaller type: once, twice, and again.
* Said Pooh.
I got my son to help me with the cords. He has better eyesight and does a better job of matching stuff up. I also found the cord, or a cord that fits, for my Bissell spot cleaner.
I kept a few of the generic leftovers, I put them each in their own baggie so they won’t get tangled. They are in a box with all the extra power strip and the adapters and all other things electrical.
Now the bag of electronics is ready to go. The dump will charge me $10, or I can wait for the free drop off in November. There’s a place up here that recycles and fixes old electronics, but whenever I call goes straight to VM. I’d rather take it there.
I forgot to tell y’all, I’m so proud of my little boy. Ripple caught a mouse all by himself yesterday. Usually he needs help from the cat, but he did it on his own. He strutted around the house like he was a king afterwards. My son and I both clapped our hands and told him how wonderfully clever he was and what a good boy. He got one of his favorite treats too, but that serves two purposes. One - to reward him, and two - so he will drop the dead mouse so we can dispose of it. Otherwise he’d keep tossing it air all over the house, with Echo on his heels trying to steal it.
Now if he could only catch a few bushy tailed tree rats.
Another Leo, eh? Happy birthday!
I am sooooo sleepy! I woke up in the night because I heard what I thought might be a cat in heat. A few minutes later, it happened again, and I realized it was a baby crying. It sounded like it was outside. I got up to look, but with my vision, I couldn’t see anything. Maybe a desperate parent was walking the baby outside? I couldn’t sleep for worrying about it.
I can’t take naps because they screw up my sleep schedule and it’s too late in the day for coffee.
sari - is there a Best Buy near you? You can recycle all sorts of electronic stuff there. I’m about to take an old phone and a dead tablet to our local store.
Supper was good. Dishes and cleanup is done. Chillage shall ensue, sorta. Daughter cleaned the carpet in their basement room and it probably won’t be dry till tomorrow, so they’re hanging with us. But Roxy has her tablet and it’s keeping her entertained, which helps.
For some reason, her dog likes to hang with me. Dunno what he’ll do when they move!
Time to claim a seat before they’re all gone…
There is, but they only take three things per family per day
I have a whole big black trash bag full of stuff, old phones, cameras, pagers, palm pilot, a printer, blueteeth?
