For Questionable Content fans...Comic #1059

They’re still figuring it out. One of the big controversies in the webcomic circles is if they have to be in a format that’s easily transferred to a dead-tree collected edition, or if they can do something more experimental and innovative.

Many of the big webcomics (and a surprising number of smaller ones) have print compilations of their online comics. I’ve collected all the available Narbonic and Girl Genius compilations published to date, and am probably going to start picking up the Order of the Stick books, too. OotS is interesting in particular because Rich Burlew has released a couple of “prequel” books to the series that aren’t available on-line.

It’s official. Dora is scaring me. (She looks really good in that last strip, though! Angry = hot for her, I suppose.)

I liked the aside about the Silmarillion. That nearly happened to me once.

I think Faye suddenly discovering her libido has flipped Dora’s jealousy switch. She was cool with Martin and Faye being best buds/roomies because Faye’s issues effectively desexualized her, so she wasn’t a threat to her relationship with Martin. Now she’s not only sexually active, but she’s sleeping with Sven, which in Dora’s mind means that she’ll sleep with anyone. Including (or especially) Martin.

The question now is, is she going to let the crazy spiral out of control until it sabotages her relationship with Martin, or is someong going to step in and give her the bitch-slap of sanity? And if it’s going to be the second route, who’s going to deliver it? Martin? Sven? Penelope? The allosaurus that ate Sara? One thing’s for sure: we won’t find out tomorrow. Friday’s strip is going to be another cliff-hanger.

Okay, seriously, someone has to start bitch slapping Dora. I hope Marten doesn’t listen to Steve–this “girl logic” thing is crap. Don’t indulge the crazy bitch!

Me wonders what Hanners is drinking there. Must be some nasty shit.

That is a pretty gross color, Phase42. I’m torn between thinking it’s some sort of Dreamsicle-flavored drink, and so appropriately colored, or something more virulent, like orange soda and Southern Comfort. And why is it in a wine glass? What wine is that color?

You know, I probably wouldn’t be taking girl-advice from Steve if I were Marty. This is based on half the comic, since I can’t get it to load any farther. Grrrr.

Well, Hanners didn’t like it much, judging from panel 3.

What Steve says is correct, but the crutch of the issue is as you stated above: should Marten indulge that crazy bitch?

Looks like a pretty good theory.

Which still doesn’t explain to me entirely why Dora freaked. Unless Dora thinks Faye was her friend to get next Sven, which is ridiculous.

No, but I can see where she’d get angry that Sven was poaching off her friends again, and transferring that anger to Faye. I’m not really defending her…she was being just a little irrational.

I guess now we get to see Dora’s “deep dark past” as well. There must be something more than sibling issues, or perhaps a worse example of same.

Hanners is cute when she puts her foot down, isn’t she?

Did she suddenly grow in Size and Presence?

It’s like being mauled by a kitten.

(This kitten, to be precise)

Dora hasn’t really impressed me much. Okay, so she was jealous of Sven growing up–but clearly Faye hasn’t only befriended her to get Sven’s lovin…she’s been friends with Dora for like, ever.

I personally was delighted to see some Pintsize and Winslow face time, interacting with the regular characters. It seems like its been a while since they’ve been around.

I think we’re seeing her mother’s side coming out - something I think Hanners keeps tightly under control

Who hasn’t gotten a low-paying job in a coffee shop where you have to interact with people you don’t like before even knowing about your boss’s brother, partaker of opportunistic vaginas, all as part of plan to present your own opportunistic vagina and to alienate one of your best friends?

Huh? Who hasn’t? Happens all the time, like jaywalking and petty theft. I do it on at least a weekly basis. Keeps things exciting, though I am running out of coffeehouses and country lyricists.
