Guster + Dopers = A fabulous way to spend an evening, in my book. So sad that I’ll be in Pennsylvania this weekend, and unable to bless y’all with my presence. (No, please, wipe those tears away, I can’t stand to see you like this.)
As for any other Dopefest in the near future, the only bad weekend for me would be Labor Day, but I suspect that it’d also be bad for manny peoples other than myself. I have no problem with avoiding smokey bars. I could do Jersey, if absolutely necessary (depending on where in Jersey we’re talking about, it could be a bit of a drive).
I don’t suppose I could get you folks up into Connecticut, could I? Didn’t think so. Dammit.
OK all, where are we all meeting (so we can hang out together at the concert) and where the hell is the summerstage in Central Park? I’ve never gone there, but it seems to be at 72nd and Park. Is this about right? Does Wonko need more sleep?
It’s up to you, Wonk. When I reserved my ticket, Ticketmaster says the concert starts at 7:30. I had heard 7:00 from the band, so that’s confusing. But how about 7:15 somewhere near there?
7:15 is great- I’ve never been to the summerstage, so I don’t know any good landmarks, howabout we meet at the mother goose statue, it’s near the entrance (best I can figure out) and easy to find. If someone else has a better idea, let me know. I found a good map at http://www.centralpark.org .
Plus, I figure a mother goose statue should be easy to spot.
When you fellas are done with the show, call me on my cell, if you’re up for it, there’s a party in Carrol Gardens I’ll be attending. You’re more than welcome to come. (That’s an invitation to y’all). It’s across the street from the subway stop as well, so it’s easy to get to.
Guys: You might want to consider another meeting spot. Mother Goose is RIGHT outside the Summer Stage entrance – which is usually mobbed before/during the performance.
The Pilgrim Statue is not far away and out of the mob action. Just a suggestion.
El Viejo Yayo is located at 40 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217.
Train directions: The 2, 3, 4, 5, D or Q to Atlantic Ave. The N, R or B to Pacific Street. If you are not on the N, R or B follow the signs to those trains, then get out of the station. You will be on Pacific Street and 4th Ave. Walk one block over to Dean St, then one block up to 5th Ave. If you find yourself walking downhill, you are going in the wrong direction.
Wonko, this is a spanish restaurant. Any spanish restaurant worth its salsa has beer. In bottles.
