Former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is sentenced to...

…and the judge says…

(Link to Detroit Free Press live blog from inside the courtroom as he receives his sentence for extortion, tax evasion, etc).

It seems she has said sentencing guidelines suggest 30 years to life, but she also says she’s not married to the guidelines.

Judge says, “Defense wants me to acknowledge his accomplishments as mayor. That is what he was elected to do. … He chose to waste his talents on personal aggrandizement and enrichment” when he had so much talent that coulld have benefited the city."

I predict a life sentence. Make an example of this clown.

“30 years to life”? What does that mean in terms of how many years he would actually be in prison?

Personally I doubt if it means anywhere near 30 years.

I think I read (sorry no cite) that federal sentences you typically serve 85% of the time sentenced, so if he gets the 30 years, it’ll be at least 25 and a half years.

28 years. Just what the prosecution asked for.

Maybe I misread the 30 years to life portion of the blogging. It appears she has now sentenced him to 28 years, which is what the prosecution asked for.

Judge just said "The governent has asked for a sentence of 28 years. I believe that is in fact what his sentence should be. "

I wonder if he thinks it was all worth it.

JUDGE DR. KLAHN:  Detroit!

KILPATRICK:  No. No! Noooooooooo . . .

He has our gratitude.

And, of course, Big Jim Slade will be there soon to break him out of prison.

Ddamn I love the Dope! Where else would so many people get that?

Suck on the big sweaty balls of Justice* you contemptible smirking fuck.

*Yes she has big balls, why do you think she wears those flowy robes, she need to give them room to breathe
