He can’t die. At worst, they’ll change his battery and reboot him. He may also need an updated BIOS.

Well, at least now we all very clearly get to see the true face of the board’s Left.
When he does something assholish and/or stupid, or is found out in having previously done something assholish and/or stupid, while he’s not experiencing a health crisis. I’d think there’d be lots of opportunities that qualify. (At the very least, I’d think one could Pit the guy without making his health crisis the ostensible topic of the Pitting.)
Heh. Did you know Senator Kennedy died? Remember the face of the board’s right?
While I hope, for the sake of our common humanity, that Cheney pulls through this crisis, that does not reflect a view on my part that he is worth being respected. He is a disgusting man, a disgusting politician, a disgusting human being.
Fuck him. I hope he dies in agony.
…Although I was amused by the comment from his earlier hospitalization:
“V.P. Dick Cheney has been admitted to the hospital, for suspected heart problems.”
“Impossible!”
“Why do you say that? That’s what you’d expect for a public figure complaining of heart problems.”
“But that implies that Cheney has a heart.”
I still can’t get over the fact the Rand FREEDOM Rover is a fan of the man who went above and beyond the call of duty to try to create the most coercive, authoritarian government this country has ever seen.
Kinda makes you wonder what bridge he lives under, don’t it?
I’m praying for a speedy recovery and return home. After all, we don’t want any health care workers shot in the face.
Judging from his homoerotic post, it appears it’s a physical attraction.
A comment that would have a bit more sting if those of the left didn’t on a fairly regular basis make it clear that we as a group utterly despise the man whenever his name comes up. I see it as no worse being happy about Cheney’s misfortune, as it is when people comment on how they find it satisfying when some serial killer gets cancer or something of the sort. Serial killers have a much lower body count, after all.
The Ayn Rand Memorial bridge.
So everybody is an asshole.
Possibly, though the “everybody” has not been demonstrated in this thread, nor, in fairness, was it demonstrated in the Kennedy threads. I suspect you missed my point.
When I saw the headline, my thought was “Huh. Hope he’s in a lot of pain and dies soon.”
I’ve never said or thought that about another human being. I feel guilty.
Okay, done now.
I hope he enjoys the care he’s getting off of my dime. I’m uninsurable with not anything nearly as ugly or costly as the health history he has. If there were any justice in the world, he would be a victim of recission like so many thousands of Americans have been and he’d be struggling to figure out how to pay for his care from all his Halliburton blood money.
Geez, at this point, having a “Cheney in the hospital” thread is like the free space on a Bingo card.
But I want him to live long enough for his legacy to be widely accepted as an evil one in American history.
I’m OK with him dying in pain and fear, and his negative legacy being shaped after he’s dead.
Right now, I’d hope he dies choking on Rand Rover’s penis, which seems to be what **Rand **really wants, but I fear Rand doesn’t have the goods to choke a chicken, much less an experienced swordswallower like Cheney (all those Bohemian Grove get-togethers, don’tchaknow).
I suppose the question is what is civilized behavior? A man is in the hospital. In polite society, without knowing anything else, we would be shocked to hear someone speak ill. Is there an exception, and if so, is this it? Neither Ted Kennedy or Dick Cheney were ever convicted of murdering someone, although both sides argue that there was probable cause for believing that, no indicting authority has ever indicted for murder. (Kennedy was indicted and pled guilty to leaving the scene of a crime.) The right and the left would argue that their respective boogeyman was the person who did the most damage to the Republic with their political career. Each side would argue that the bad guy was insincere.
I cannot fathom anyone arguing that Kennedy was anywhere as evil as Cheney, but then I face the fact that it must certainly exist and with sincerity.
It boils down to what is the nature of evil and has the life of that person amounted to making the world a better place or a worse place.
As strongly as I feel Cheney has done more damage to the country than any American in history, he isn’t even under indictment, much less convicted. So I’m not happy about his suffering, or his family’s worry. The only time I’ve ever felt that way about a famous figure in spite of myself was when Jesse Helms died. I thought he was a racist provoking hatred out of hatred and spite. I thought and still think truly un-Christian thoughts about that man.
Part of me thinks that Cheney has convinced himself that all of his wrongheadedness was the right thing, despite the fact that he profited tremendously from it.
Cheney is above the law; the fact that he hasn’t been convicted is meaningless since for all practical purposes, laws do not apply to him. And someone comparing one incident from Kennedy, to the mass death and suffering and torture Cheney helped cause is ridiculous. Even if Kennedy had eaten Mary Jo Kopechne alive on television, he would not be nearly as evil as Cheney.
I doubt that it has ever occurred to him that anything he did was wrong. Especially because he profited from it, not in spite of it; profit proves his virtuousness, proves his favor in the eyes of God.
