The similarity between Congress and a keyboard: there’s a mere 1/4" space between the D and the R.
Was it ever really like that? Lots of Republicans have talked a good game about small government and fiscal responsibility, but in my lifetime I can’t remember anyone really trying to do it on a national level (except Bill Clinton, maybe).
I think there’s a very interesting case to be made for that sort of traditional conservatism. Someday, I’d like to hear someone make it.
Have you considered the Neo-Mugwumps?
Not a chance. They have done the same thing when Mark Foley got caught with the Congressional pages, and also when Larry Craig was caught in the airport restroom. Both times they labeled them as Democrats. There is no way this was an accident, it is SOP at Fox.
May I steal this?
I wouldn’t say Fox News has a lock on this. CNN has done it, too. And here. (When Liberman is identified as (D) Connecticut.) And some just plain stupid ones like Experts Agree: Al Qaeda Leader is Dead or Alive. I agree with Jon Stewart that they’re all full of shit.
I don’t think anyone suggested that Fox is the only one to have done this. But Fox has done it repeatedly, and I have yet to see them mislabel a Democrat as a Republican.
They’ve done it three times, right? I suppose that qualifies as “repeatedly”, but then what does CNN’s qualify as? Only several? Just a few? Anyway, I’d say one huge bold “Bush Resigns” trumps even a couple of errant parenthetical "D"s.
At least.
Of course you would.
Can you find more? I looked, and could find only three.
And of course you wouldn’t.
I don’t understand how this is even comparable. Identifying Lieberman as a Democrat is not that big a mostake. He used to be a Democrat, and he votes with them on organizational issues, which are actually more important than voting on bills (especially with the current president’s penchant for “signing statements”).
Fox incorrectly identifying people who have been caught committing sex crimes as Democrats is a whole different ball game.
According to a commenter on this over at Crooks and Liars, Fox did it to that famous Democrat Arlen Spector, another Pubbie who just doesn’t always play ball with the neojerks. I have no independent verification.
There’s also this, labeling Specter when he criticized Gonzalez.
Ninja’ed by samclem!
OK,four times, but I’m sure that is it, there couldn’t be any more…
Well, you see, “filthy disgusting liberal Democrat” is more of a state of mind than a political affiliation. Sure, Larry Craig is a Republican, but when he’s trying to find pole to suck in a toilet he’s a Democrat. Once he’s had a chance to wipe his chin and flee the scene he’s back to being a Republican.
So, you see, when he was doing something un-Godly he was being a Democrat and therefore can accurately be described as a Democrat when referring to him performing said act.
Holy shit - I think I just discovered how the ‘thoughts’ of someone like Carol “I have a wide stance when making a” Stream work. Fascinating.
-Joe
Eh, why stop at five?
Lamar Alexander.
This one may truly be just a mistake. It was in reference to Alexander running against the comeback kid, Trent Lott, for Minority Whip. Lott won at the last minute. I don’t have any intimate knowledge of the dynamics of the Pubbies at that poijnt.
Just to recount—HOW many times has Fox news put an R in front of an actual Democrat’s picture/name? Anyone?
CNN misidentified Osama as Obama. CNN shat all over Michael Moore’s Sicko, partly by hiding Cuba’s number with a graphic. And it made up a whole fairy tale just to increase its ratings. Of course, I’m sure the gang will say none of that is very serious.
I will give you Obama, but the other two are outside the scope of this OP. I am specifically addressing mis-labeled graphics here, so dragging in other instances of bias is neither here nor there.
Well, then the Sicko graphic has to count. It was misused to bolster Gupta’s argument.
Explain how that is mislabeled.
You misspelled “deliberately deceptive and fraudulent reporting”.
